Updating to DayZ Version 1.7.1.X (and similar, and higher) - Includes Installing ArmA2 Beta Patch
----------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: You must follow ALL 3 sections to ensure your DayZ runs properly on new / updated servers.
----------------------------------------------------------------
I. Updating DayZ Version
1. Download the latest DayZ files (via torrent):
http://cdn.armafiles.info/latest.torrent2. Go into the folder you downloaded after it's complete, and copy those 14 (at the time of this writing) files, and paste them to your ArmA2: OA dayz folder.
3. They should go in the "@dayz\addons\" directory.
NOTE: I recommend also creating a duplicate of the files in a folder called v1.7.1.X (or whatever version) should you need to downgrade ever
Now DayZ is up-to-date.
----------------------------------------------------------------
II. Installing/Updating ArmA2 Beta Patch
1. Download the latest ArmA2 Beta Patch:
http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php (it's the one at the very top in green)
2. Go into the Expansion folder in your AmrA2: OA directory. Delete the folder that says "beta" (should you have one)
3. Unzip and run the .exe (application).
4. It should pop up a message box or 2, just hit OK and it'll install fairly quickly.
5. Now, in your ArmA2: OA folder, it'll have an .exe (application) called "ArmA2OA.exe" (in the same place your @dayz folder is)
6. Make a new folder next to that .exe, name it something like "origin exe", "old exe", or something similar
7. Copy the "ArmA2OA.exe" into that new folder (to preserve the old exe, in case something goes wrong).
NOTE: If you've already copied the original file, do not copy the .exe again, as it'll copy the beta .exe from a previous copy.
8. Now copy & paste the .exe (application) found in Expansion\beta into the ArmA2: OA directory.
Your beta patch is now up-to-date.
----------------------------------------------------------------
III. Launch Options and Ensuring playability.
IF YOU'RE RUNNING STEAM (assuming you have Beta installed):
1. Right Click on ArmA2: OA in steam, go to properties.
2. Click on Set Launch Options.
3. Paste the following (without quotes): "-nosplash -mod=@dayz -skipIntro -noPause -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion"
4. Hit OK.
5. Run DayZ as usual.
IF YOU'RE NOT RUNNING STEAM:
NOTE: It should be very similar, but instead of going to properties/launch options, it'll be amended to the end of your target on your shortcut.
What do I mean?
Make a shortcut to the AmrA2OA (or whatever) exe, right click, and look at the target. It shows where it goes.
At the end of the quotes, add the following (without quotes): "-nosplash -mod=@dayz -skipIntro -noPause -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion"
