Because of the server system it isnt entirely true, but each individual server is relatively static even though they are prone to hackers and server resets which will reset the loot placement.

I assume it means its MMO like, every server is the same and you can log in to any server with your character in the same place with the same gear. The only difference between servers is player/zombie locations and populace, and difference in gear / vehicle locations and type. All of those things are true, but it might not be what it means :D

I been watching a few streams of people playing and it is irritating to see shots getting registered late or having to miss when it looked like a hit and so on. For a mainly FPS I would guess this would the most important to do.

Also pretty sure the desync issues are caused by the servers being ddos'd, they have no queue system for players joining so everyone joining and disconnecting at once when it takes too long is basically ddosing the server.

The mod is alpha, the game is not. Most of the bugs in DayZ are ARMA II bugs. It's unfortunate, but its how it is. I've gotten quite a ways, and dealt with a few bug that made me just want to throw the computer of my deck. First one was, at the top of a tower after finding my first rifle, I attempted to go prone without enough room to lay flat in the direction I was facing, which resulted in my being launched off the tower, to my death. Second one, after a crazy intense merry go round with someone in a market, where I was narrowly avoiding his vision by ducking behind other shelves before he saw, a zombie lumbered right through the glass into the building. And from there, began walking into the back where I was. I led it as far into the market as I could, and shot it once, dropping it. Of course, this alerted all nearby zombies, so I prepared myself for the fight (they all had to come through the back of the market to get me; a choke. Shotgun at the ready, breath quickening, I was read-- The zombies came through the closed doors and walls next to me, instantly knocked me unconscious, and I laid there, helpless to stop them. Pretty frustrating way to die, after such an intense moment, two, really. The zombie in the building wasn't so bad, it had cornered me in the back and I could defend myself easily, nor was the problem that the shot alerted nearby zombies...I think I could have handled them, if only barely (There was maybe 10 or so). The problem was that they came through the closed door AND the walls. Four of them, and knocked me unconscious with one of their first hits. It was so utterly frustrating.

Thanks! Yeah the beta patches are useful, reduce loading and a few bugs. I think they are linked a few pages back in the threads. Regarding CO patches just get the most up to date ones, steam does it automatically. However once you get the beta you have to launch it via a certain bat script for dayZ.

Thanks! You do need the beta patches, many servers use beta versions. However, only install the version you actually need (because some server requires it). I recently had the problem that I installed the latest beta patch and afterwards couldn't connect to any servers because Battleye complained about a bad version or something. They fixed that a few hours later though. You can get the beta patches here. Install the latest patch you need and follow the instructions in the readme file (add -mod=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion to the target of your shortcut or to the launch parameters in Steam, where you also added @DayZ). My full target now is "D:\Games\ARMA 2\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -mod=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion;@DayZ -nosplash. Also note that I run the game via the arma2oa.exe in the Expansion\beta folder. All this is explained in the readme file however.

Now, i can barely connect to a server, it spends 15 mins retrieving data, then theres a chance it just hangs out on trying to authenticate. When i do get in a server, there are just no zeds ? tried 5+ ![]() Is this normal when the servers get busy? Im guessing they are just extremely overloaded and malfunctioning, considering it was fine earlier today when everyone was at school / work

When you select a server from the server browser it shows you what version it is running in the bottom right, e.g. Required: 1.6.93666 For that server you'd have to install the beta patch 93666 or higher.
