I have a compass and I use an out of game map but holy crap waypoints are so much nicer. Not sure I've had a map on the TL server so if waypoints are disabled or something then yeah I'd rather have a compass.

I know this might suck for convenience. But I think we should disable waypoints on the server.
More realistic and orienteering becomes a real necessity. I had more fun without WPs.

I never use waypoints because i dont think iv ever needed them but I dont care if other people use them.

Mmm not sure how I feel about this. I use waypoints alot. I could probably adjust though.
I'd say keep the way points.

Its a zombie survival game, not a navigation exercise. Does make it a lot harder but it just means you have to keep stopping all the time to check your position etc.

Makes it hard to even determine WHERE you are when you're not near a coast or town, especially at night.
Also, HOW THE FUCK do I use my rangefinder?
B just brings me to normal looking binos.

I managed to solve that issue and finally got ingame, but my FPS was completely shit (I can play SC2 on max, yet I had like 10 FPS on lowest settings in Day Z... Giving up for the night (note, it was also night on the server, and the sky was like black and white and the textures seemed very low, I failed to take a picture as print-screen didn't seem to work...).
Any ideas? Try playing when its day time since when its night time, its literally really night the texture is really bad when its night. Dark as hell but also mess around with your video. Like taking off the motion blur thing and stuff. Tried that now, the game is really blurry for me (no matter what graphic setting) and when I look around it feels really sluggish still (as if my character is drunk, basically I have low FPS). Still no ideas :/? make sure you have AA off, postprocessing off, blur off, and 3d res set to 100%. it should be crisp as hell. if by blurry you only mean low FPS, that's just the game. it's rather poorly optimized.

Still no ideas :/? I know what your problem is! I'm here to save the day! This pissed me off for a bit too, what you need to do is change the 3D resolution in your graphics settings to the same as your normal resolution. Also try putting shadows off and playing around with it a bit. Key thing is remembering to make sure the 3D resolution is right Edit: what draken said too
Okay so I changed my 3D resolution and I guess it solved the problem, but I still think the aim is abit "sluggish" when I look around, is it like this for everybody or is there still something wrong? Basically if you compare the aiming and looking around to FPS games like CS, Battlefield, COD etc it feels like there's a "delay" kind of...
Anyone that can relate ?
EDIT: Oh, 1 more thing... if I change my graphic settings to normal/low/lowest my 3D resolution changes automatically, if I then change my 3D resolution back to 100%, the graphics automatically go back to High :/...

Some things I think this game should have are:
1. Zombies to drop actually good items on a very RARE occasion. Maybe 1 out of every 100/200 zombies will drop something that you go "Fuck yeah!" when you get it to encourage more zombie killing.
2. Notes. Just be able to randomly leave notes around the map would be awesome in my opinion. Like post a sticky note on a tree over a dead body saying "And here lieth sweet Player 1, I hardly knew him." Not counting the notes on the map of course, notes actually in game would feel a lot more personal and neat imo.
Thoughts?

I got 2 M9 SD mags from zombies i killed in one night, that made me go "Fuck yeah" considering at the time i only had one clip left and no military spawns were being nice to me :3

Wow this game is so impossibly weird to learn, trying to find guides but all links from this front page are dead.
Once I die when I press respawn it just says Player was killed and nothing happens. I don't understand how to respawn except for relogging a server lol.
Also how do you climb over fences? Can't find an answer on that.

I created an updated list of links here a few pages back, it just hasn't been incorporated into the OP yet.
When you die and you get the "You are dead" screen or whatever it says, just go to abort, disconnect, and then reconnect. You don't have to disconnect all the way out of the server, just to the lobby.
V will climb over short fences.

To respawn you have to go back to the server screen where it displays the names of the people in the server and hit "ok" again.
You can vault over small fences with "v" edit- get down! Snipers!

Helicopter pilot zombies at Crash sites have a chance to drop NVG'S.

How do you take screenshots of the game? When I try print screen it takes a pic of my desktop. Btw... I'm Katastrophe.. just spawned.. please dont kill me ~_~
PS: Thanks to Valenius on teamspeak for babysitting me for 30 minutes helping me along.

Do you guys carry multiple primary weapons for use? Like a sniper and an assault rifle and switch between them while running around depending on the situation/where you are? Seems like it would be helpful to scout a town/airfield for a few with the sniper then move in with a rifle but 1) that takes up so much room in your inventory and 2) I haven't tried but I imagine it's a pain to do the switch with moving guns and ammo around.
