Don't block Smough's attacks, you can't... If you doing it solo, just focus on killing Ornstein first because he will always be faster and chasing you down. Ornstein is weak against lighting, if you got the lighting spear at the beginning of Anor Londo, then it will be easy to kill Smough.

I prefer END first for equip load. 40 is the "soft cap" for most (all?) stats. Then you can up your STR/DEX to get more dps out of your weapon depending on how it scales. Look up all the strength weapons that have B to S scaling and decide which you gonna use. Get enough str/dex or pump more str later on after you got 40 in END and VIT. I would recommend Black Knight Giant Axe.

If you made Quelagg's furrysword before the fight, just use it for Ornstein first then switch to the lighting spear for Smough. Btw, go 2H whenever you get a chance to hit them. I used to do 1H attacks so I can use shield to block but you can't block shit against them and it takes too long to kill boss, 2H is my preferred way now. Just don't get hit, roll then counter.

BKGA has B scaling in STR. YOu need 38 STR to wield it, just get 38 first then pump more in STR in NG, NG+.

Also, when you're selecting a weapon, on the stats, you'll see a damage and then a +damage amount. The +XXX is the amount from scaling. So if you have an axe (just example) that does 300 damage and scales D with strength, you might see: 300..... +100 If it scaled S with strength, then it might be: 300..... +350 Numbers totally made up, but hopefully it helps.

(though tbh minus the obnoxious sign-in every time I open the game, I haven't had any issues). Awesome sales is the only way to guarantee that this happens. Many people complained about the port, so far I still have yet to see why, but all that negative talk probably didn't do the sales much good.

I'm new to this whole actual character building stuff, I got 30 VIT and some STR and END but I really have no idea where to go from there. Almost all of the str weapons are really good, it's mostly just preference of what moveset you want. The Black Knight Greataxe as some have mentioned is one of the best weapons in the game (if there were such a thing as a "best" weapon in dark souls, they're all really balanced) because of it's relatively quick attack speed, staggering ability, damage, and especially the very useful moveset that it has. Demon's greataxe is another fun axe. Zweihander is good for long reach. I've been running the black knight sword since I luckily got it off the first black knight in the game, though I only have minimum stats for it and it still 2 shots everything. Str builds are some of the most fun, because then you can just take your pick of whatever weapon you want to have fun with at the time and they'll almost always be very good.

They drop it all the time. The slimes outside the bonfire are also a good place to farm titanite if your weapons are under upgraded. Somebody posted about the final new area being good for it(chasm of the abyss), and damn is it ever good. You literally farm black humanity sprites for humanities, and they drop them all the time, along with twin humanities. Got 99 humanities in less than in hour. They don't give you much in the way of souls though.

edit: also, am i the only one getting hit by long weapons and i'm being hit like 1.5 hitboxes away? it seems they're super OP with the lag that comes with people not opening up their ports and i get in some real laggy fights sometimes. about 1/10 people i either get hit by 2h weapons from way further than the hitbox, or i get backstabbed when the guy clearly wasn't anywhere near behind me >.> other than that i like invading though

It probably didn't sell amazingly, I find it pretty hard to coop in the PC version compared to the 360 version, which is sad considering the amount of time since dark souls was released on console.

Steam rarely (if ever) release sales numbers. If the developer haven't said anything there's no real way of knowing. I think a lot of people are waiting for it to go on sale as well (it being a bit older game with a suspect port being a strong factor of that). I also think this can be a game that gains a lot by word of mouth. If the port issues aren't too damaging I think it has potential to rake in some money in the long run.

Which is a shame because I like using that terrible spell. The faith spells are cool but worse than the others, although Wrath of God is probably its saving grace. I still like to throw out some Emit Forces though. I might switch it out from WoG, Emit, Sunlit Blade to WoG, Anti-magic coat spell, Sunlit Blade. Although I'm going to do NG+ pretty soon I think so I can get Darkmoon Blade. Still though, I'm level 90 at the moment with 40 dex 30 faith. My endurance is really low but I like my current equip so I don't really need to spend points on it. I could bump up my faith but because it's hard to actually land hits apart from a WoG, seems a bit pointless. It might be nice for a little extra damage on the weapon buffs and for my Darkmoon bow so I'll have to see. Waaaaaa I don't want to get rid of Emit Force.
