i like the game so far, just got out of the first area, but i think i need to go to the church after the dungeon...those skeletons kill me in like 3 hits and take like 30 to die lol You are probably going the wrong way, from the firelink shrine face the npc there, and then look right, you should be able to find a path that goes up rather than towards the cemetery. yeah i figured that.
also, another problem i have. my god damn mouse pointer is always visible

Looks damn good if you let modders have a go at it. I wonder how this effects performance though.

I haven't really noticed 30 FPS it seems fine to me.

You do understand FromSoft has other things to do? Like develop other games? They can't just sit there and put this on the back burner, release it maybe 2-3 years down the line (because that's how long it would take for them to upgrade the textures, redo the animations to sync them up properly to 60 fps, among various other things people are demanding), and expect a great return. They would be investing too much money and time in something that isn't going to pan out.
The fact that the game is on PC at all is a miracle in itself. Be happy with that.
This backlash from Dark Souls is exactly why quite a few developers are straying away from PC development. The PC community for some odd reason has this sense of self entitlement, especially on a company that has ZERO PC experience. Let's say From Soft took the time to port Dark Souls the way everyone wanted. High res textures, proper syncing of animations, blah blah blah. Takes probably an extra year, if not more. They release the game, and hardly anyone buys it because the hype has died down, and everyone says "you should have released it earlier." They push the game release date up, cut a few features out because they simply don't have enough time, and all of a sudden "wow what a shitty fucking port."

I don't mind that people hold high standards and keep the devs honest, but cmon guys... I'm just happy they released it on pc and I don't have to consider buying a console now.
"Aren't you thankful?" :D

Some guy fixed the locked resolution in 20 minutes, which would be even quicker if he had actually had the source code. The locked resolution, as well as most of the other issues, are the result of laziness and ignorance.

I see. that's a shame about the WL games thing, oh well. do you turn off the AA and the motion filter for the patch, or just the AA?

I got this today, it seems pretty cool so far. I use my xbox controller to play it, so I can't comment on KB/mouse controls. It appears to be a pretty in depth RPG, which I like. It's also hard as fuck! I like that, too.

A word of warning, apparently if the game drops below 30 FPS at all it locks to 15 FPS .
|
I have a feeling the beautiful modding nerds will figure out how to make it run better.

i enjoy this big time thus far. getting fucked up in a game was never so much fun.

Man I was invaded already lol

what's everyone's binds for the PC? oddly it won't let me set weapon swapping to 1-9 and it doesn't actually show if the mouse clicks are normal/heavy attacks.

No, people shouldn't be happy just because a company decides to port a game to pc no matter what, that's a horrible consumer pov (people are actually paying for this you know, they are not giving out the game as a handout). That will only lead to even worse ports coming out if consumers just bend over and take it from behind. There are plenty of reasons why companies stay away from the pc market, and it has little to do with "entitled pc gamers." You seem to think a gaming company needs to be cuddled with so we don't scary them away from the big scary pc market. Come on...
Also it doesn't take 2-3 years to add proper menus, settings, controls, and hd textures (which is what most people want), other companies have done so, experience or not. If a pc gaming company makes a crappy console port I'd have no problem with people complaining about it, why shouldn't they? Go play a game that's known to be a good port and compare it to it's console counter part and tell me it's just about "cutting a few features."
I never expected this to be a full featured port for a lot of the reasons you have mentioned, but your excuses for the developer and misplaced anger at pc gamers aren't doing anyone favors.

I guess I'll give the modders a good headstart before I decide whether I really want this or not.
I mean even if they turn it into a good experience I don't really knoe if I want to give the company money for a mess like that.
|
Looks like it runs at 30 FPS vsync (friend is playing across the room) and it assumes it has PS3 resources because the game will downgrade itself to 15 FPS if too much happens. Hardware is way more than the game needs BTW.

The game isn't a mess and its a great game. The resolution isn't locked there isn't any noticeable lag and the developers will be adding in more features to make it better. The game looks just fine IMO you people are making things seem like theres a shit ton of problems when its just fine and very enjoyable. The game is a fantastic experience, I am playing with 5 friends who have never played Dark Souls and they all enjoy it so far and like it.
Don't be so dramatic and make it seem like all these few problems is a huge deal.
Edit: The Developers said before that they will be working on updating the game to fix a few of the problems, I have been still having a blast.
