Pretty similar experience as well. Hoping it gets better today.

Ater suffering poor performance in the pve zone I went head first into pvp, it was completely unplayable thanks to network lag (2 am gmt) - I'd keep dying over and over seldom even seeing attack animations or other players movements before dropping to 15% health.

I'd be hard pressed to believe this is how its gonna be on release.. wait and see I guess!

@Josh - Have you watched any of the other footage from GW2, from, say, the Yogscast or TB or whatever. I've seen most of their GW2 videos and they aren't experiencing the problems you describe. It's worth bearing that in mind. Of course there are gonna be lag issues in the first few hours of an open beta. We don't know how hard aNet are trying to push each server. We don't know if they've allowed more people in than they're currently ready for, or if more people have joined certain servers than they were expecting.

On the subject of event scaling, again, go watch some of the footage and see how it looks with different size groups. It's also worth remembering that the scaling could bug out a little bit when the servers are completely at their limits.

If you don't like the game, that's fine, get your money back. I'm just trying to communicate that the experiences you've described would only really be a 'deal-breaker' after a game's release. Also, that those experiences aren't shared by everyone, so maybe you just got a bit unlucky with lag spikes or whatever.

edit- I don't mean to say 'you're the only one with these issues; sucks to be you', but rather to go and have a look at what the game is like without these problems and compare the two. It was pretty much unplayable for me yesterday also, in the big PvE event areas, so I went off and started exploring some of the more quiet places and messed around with crafting for a bit, before i went to sleep. Maybe try something similar.

Was able to log in finally and played the first quest. Was a bit sluggish as someone mentioned before, but let's see how it feels in the release version and when I tweak the settings a bit. So far I like the game and I think I can have a lot of fun with it.

hey guys im playing with mates and im so confused right now. we are both on abbadons maul and stand next the same person to try and find each other but cannot see each other. are there stil districts like in gw1?

If you enter a zone or teleport to a waypoint you will be asked to enter one if the zone is full.

Be grateful, that bosses can one shot you! Most noob titles don't provide such challenges (which is only virtual anyway).

Some of the dynamic events are labled "group events", which means that they don't scale down to just one or 2 people. Maybe Josh stumbled into one of those?

Also, this game isn't just about calculating your dps and armor and just trading blows with mobs. You actually have to dodge and time your dodges so that you evade important stuff. Stacking and chaining conditions is important too. Even on small/low level mobs you have to be careful.

It's a beta test. If you're having issues, then report them through bug fixes or on the support forums etc. That's the whole purpose.

People who think beta tests are demos are morons. Yes this helps (if it goes well ) hype the game for them. But this is their first REAL large scale testing. They thought they were ready. They weren't. But the only game I've seen actually be ready was Rift (they actually failed at crashing their own servers). Even Blizzard with Diablo 3, a huge company who own the biggest MMO, compeletely dicked up their first large scale beta with pretty similar issues.

Yeah also its not just the fact its theyre first real large scale testing, but the game is using significantly amount of realtime code in the networking side. This isnt a mmo where you just target and push buttons. Your weapon hits whatever it hits. My knifes and arrows will hit several players / mobs if they happen to run by. Also you can dodge away from attacks.

So there is alot of realtime combat going on in this game. Its really an evolution of MMO.

Kessex Hills has been fixed apparently. I can't login at all atm because of error code 48 though, which I cannot find any information about.

Login for -everything- ArenaNet has been really non-functional for the last few hours. It was down an hour ago, came back up, and seems down again now.
