Curious to see what happens with the Howard-Bey hit, because that was a totally different animal.

Agreed, was watching that game from Denver and that hit totally left a bad taste in my mouth. Can't expect to knock a guy's helmet halfway across the field and get away with it. Have no idea what the fuck he was thinking, that hit will get you fined every time, especially if it's on a quarterback.

The sad thing is that no matter what happens-- even if the real refs are back tomorrow-- this whole season will be about the refereeing. "See how much better/worse than the replacements this is!" etc. The focus will now permanently be on the officiating instead of the game. It won't be oh look what X player did, but oh look what the officials are allowing. Mark my words that if either Seattle or Green Bay get into (or miss) the playoffs by 1 game. People will be even more incensed.

Yet ratings and profits are higher than they have ever been in spite of all this. That's what I'm saying, in the short term because we have a spectacle ongoing, but judging by the mass reaction to this, people are really having it affect their view of the league as a whole which isn't wholly going to just go away once the regular refs come back. And it makes sense that it would get people going in the context of all the other things that people have already been uneasy about and attributing to NFL greed and not caring about fans to now have this farce unfolding in plain sight and driven by an utterly unexplainable greed move by the league. What is absolutely essential for the league though is to get the refs back like now, so that this will be remembered as a weird early-season occurrence and not something that basically killed a season, which it will in people's minds if it goes on much longer.

Only way I can get access legally (Denmark) to the NFL content I want is a $270 game pass. I was seriously considering getting it. I just at the last minute decided not to, since I'm a pretty broke university student. I was actually gonna get with my first real paycheck this comming first of month, however that is off the table. DAMN would I have been pissed, if had put in the cash for this circus. I think the league has done a great job, exposing foreigners to NFL. Atleast a lot of people I know have picked it up over the last 5 years or so. However, this is really putting the sports integrity right back down the drain. Its really sad though. NFL have actually become a big part of my life. I spent a ton of time watching and listening to NFL material. This is ruining my greatest hobby! So frustrating

Kinda felt like Jennings had to defend himself cause he knew the refs wouldn't. I guess there is a reason why Browner was the most penalized player in the NFL in 2011

I conceded last night that the refs probably made the wrong call and talked to my friends about that, but they brought up other points and now I'm not so sure again. 1. Possession. Do you need 2 hands for possession? Does it need to be brought into your chest for it to count as possession? Do you have to be touching the ground and does the order in which people touch the ground matter in this case? 2. Contested pass. Does it have to be 50/50 or is it just as long as it isn't 100/0 that it counts as contested? Edit: oh and my boss showed me this link too http://www.thebiglead.com/index.php/2012/09/25/golden-tate-catch-frame-by-frame-look-and-the-nfl-rule-book/
