Kickers are just gonna kick the ball if I was ST coach if I'd just tell my players if you hear the whistle snap it anyways and let him take the kick, what they gonna do? Semi sure there is no penalty that can occur if a time out was called lol, and if I was a kicker i'd like a test kick.

Run down the last 30 seconds, use the top 3 defense to ensure the Falcons don't make it past midfield. Matt Ryan was playing horribly, so this should happen right?? #sarcasm What really happens: Give up 40 frikin yards in 15 seconds, give the kicker a practice kick which failed, and then lose 30-28 -________- ....great, now i have to actually seriously consider rooting for the Niners next week.

Tell me about it, Broncos with the 2nd defense in the NFL yesterday surrendering 3 long TD passes.

The only team of note that they beat were the week 2 Broncos while losing to the Saints, Panthers, and Bucs. There is no precedent to say that Atlanta will do well against the 49'rs; they just haven't shown it yet. If they do well, it'll be by pulling something out of their ass. There's a reason everyone rated them so poorly during the regular season. Seattle gave up an average of 15 points this year, best in the league; the Falcons scored 30, which is more than any other team scored against them all season. In both games Seattle played the 49ers, the 49ers only scored 13. I think that's a good recent indication that the Falcons offense is good. On defense, the Falcons finished 5th in points against even though they do give up lots of yards. When Peyton Manning / Tom Brady win with a 4th quarter comeback, they're praised for excellent play, poise, etc. When the Falcons do it, it's pulling something out of their asses. I've watched every Falcons game this season, and this is just the way they win. It's not pretty on the scoreboard at the end, but a win is a win and you shouldn't write the Falcons off just because they don't smash their opponents every week.

Obviously shit happens, and anyone can win (or I should say, anyone can lose) a football game. However, the Falcons have been really fortuitous this year with their schedule and some end-of-game breaks (this game and the Panthers game come to mind immediately). The people who run statistics on the teams (like Football Insiders) rank the Falcons outside of the top ten. In short, the Falcons are probably overachieving by getting as far as they have. The Niners will clearly be the best team that the Falcons have faced this year. This doesn't mean that they won't beat the Niners, but surely their fortunes are going to turn at some point. Then again, I've been pulling against the Falcons in most of their big games, and have usually been disappointed at the result. EDIT: I just looked. The Falcons played two playoff teams all year during the regular season. They beat the Broncos at home in week 2 and the Redskins on the road in Week 5.
