It's not quite the Organization's fault Schotty's team fell apart. All the coaches were scalped and when you put together a team that good the salary cap will always rear its ugly head. I just can't believe Norv is still coasting on some playoff wins he got piggybacking on probably the second best roster of the decade (behind the scary Patriots). He has shown a consistent lack of gameplanning, discipline and is more or less a spineless hack who has legendarily lax practices.
Bottom 5 coach in the league.

He's a great offensive coordinator but a horrendous head coach.

I think he's an overrated OC, too. I could've probably coached those Cowboy's offenses.
Here's how:
"Emitt, run behind those 3 or 4 hall of fame linemen. Ok, can you do that 25-30 times a game while Aikman stares down and throws to his hall of fame receiver who pushes off on every play without getting called on it? Sweet, gonna go stare at all my money now."
I understand that the year he came over was the year it all turned around, but it's not like his offensive expertise ever really showed up and improved any of the other teams he ever came across(The fuckin 49ers, lol. To a lesser extent his first stint with the Chargers and the Dolphins, too). Seemed more like a really talented team just got their act together in Dallas. I know I'm probably understating what legitimate positive impact he had on them, but that was the only time he had a great offensive impact on a team from a coaching standpoint, so at best his offensive ideology used to be good and got dated really quickly.
He's pure garbage, fire him into the sun.

He didn't have nearly the impact in San Francisco, but one of Alex Smith's best years came under Norv. I recall the offensive numbers being significantly better than the year before he was the OC there.

True, but I also didn't actually assign blame for the crew falling apart. Two of the guys got offered HC jobs, and once that happened, it was all over. Hilariously, Cameron went 1-15 and was summarily dismissed following his only season with the Dolphins.

rivers has a dogshit line again this year, and mediocre talent at wideout.
also I wanna say Sproles had a lot to do with it but matthews is also very good out of the backfield. it's more line and meh wideouts than anything.

I saw that coming the second Nnamdi openly questioned him yesterday.
Actually, wait, I saw that coming the second I heard the Eagles named their offensive line coach the D coordinator...
Fun stat, unless you are Juan: Since the start of 2011, Eagles defense is 1st in the NFL in 3rd down pct in the first 3 quarters and 30th in the 4th quarter.

yeah that was a hilarious hire. i was amazed he wasnt canned in the offseason. they were that bad.
i was amazed he was around so long considering how fucking awful that line has been for maybe three-four years now.

I also get the feeling this just might be the end of the line for Andy Reid as well (unless the Eagles really turn this season around and make a serious playoff run).
Vick won't be coming back too if they fail to make the playoffs (again).
Can't believe they gave him so much guaranteed money when his only useful tool (his ability out of the pocket) has already vanished due to his age.

eh as much as i think holmgreen is overrated a bit, that is a very small window he was given to turn around a team that was dogshit. then again, his drafting was also pretty meh. was the 2010 draft his doing?? if so then he at least has haden to his name. if not, only richardson. i still think the weeden draft was dumb. he just turned 29. even if he reaches his potential, you have him for such a short amount of time
the eagles were fucking retarded to sign that deal w vick. So so sooo overrated. he was also protected in the plays they called and surprise, when people figured that out, he starts coughing up the ball like crazy
|
Don't let me get started on the eagles. Fuck that entire organization
|
Holmgren should have been fired the day that he drafted Weeden with a first round pick.
|
The wording is that Holmgren is retiring at the end of the season, not that he was fired.
Though whether or not it was his choice remains to be seen.

To be fair when they first picked up vick after prison, they got a first string-tier quarterback for less than a rookie contract.
Vick may not have the same legs as before, but he's still a strong QB, better than average first string QBs.
Also, fuck Norv Turner, and Charger's oline. It's hard to be a Chargers fan (and yes, i'm still butt hurt).

San Diego is in dire need of at least ONE successful professional sports team... sigh.

Or maybe those delicious carne asada burritos are rotting the brains of our General Managers. They sure aren't doing any favors for AJ Smith or the Padres GM.

This is also a very good theory. Thankfully I go to school out of SD, otherwise my performance would be far worse. All dat sunshine+carne asada burritos, doesn't make for a very good study environment.
