probably not=[ its not being pushed as hard as the other fps games like cod or bf and its only ps3 so its numbers will be slashed again.
i really hope its awesome though and grabs more players after launch

It certainly wont be as large as Cod and BF, CCP is a small developer. In terms of eve investment I would say that I think the eventual demand will be there. Though note that it will be some time before CCP will cede over production to the players, expect everything to be seeded directly from npc corps for at least the first year. Eve runs off of about 350kish player base, I would be amazed if dust got to that number in the short term.
Small player base isn't a bad thing mind you. Eve Universe is very much a social political thing as it is about the stand alone game.
I would expect in the coming months for the advertisements to ramp up on the web, though I doubt we'd see a TV spot unless sony pushes it.

Nice to find this thread.
I've been reading and watching a lot of video's about Dust 514 as of late and plan on getting the game. I've skimmed through the Eve Online thread here on the forums, but due to having never played Eve Online, the vast majority of it means nothing to me. That being said I'd be extremely interested in working with the TL Eve Online crew/Corp as a PS3 Dust 514 player. From what I gather you guys are fairly organized through the forum, do you utilize another site or just in-game means to cooridnate etc?
As for myself I'm 29 and have been visiting TL.net since I was probably 15 or so when I first started playing the original SC, and through SC2. I play PS3 regularly and was a big fan of MAG which is a bigger FPS game which required more coordination among players imo.
At any rate if there is to be a TL Dust 514 division of the Eve Online Corp (if thats whe way to state it) I'd be extremely interested in participating. Given that I've never been an Eve Online player if anyone gets a BETA code that doesn't have a PS3 I'd love and appreciate the hook up. Let me know where and how I can assist

Well, FPS was never my cup of tea, but I hope Dust 514 manages to obtain dedicated, consistent player community. The possibilities really are too intriguing to let this game end as a fad.

Eve chat/mail is confirmed to be linked in Dust, which is where we do most of our coordinating anyways. I'll save your PM and msg you when the game gets going. Funny you should mention MAG, Ill have to hunt down some articles but the gist from what I've read is the more active early bird recruiting has come from a number of prominent MAG guilds.
Edit: Oh right also forgot, Eve/Dust corps are gettting the ability to make hidden forum boards on the main Eve online forums, not sure if we'll use it though.

We can just make a hidden TL board right?
I've got a PS3, depending on how well I take ot it (I don't care a ton for console shooters -_-) I might take up arms for the Hatchery!

I play Eve (not so much, as late; after my last corporation moved on to other things I've been having trouble getting motivated) and have thought about Dust 514. It looks interesting - and as for its impact on Eve... Well, all of the things needed to run personally owned structures are developed on planets. With Dust, rather than sending a fleet in to hammer at the structures building new supercapital ships, there's the opportunity to severly hamper their ability to use the planets available to them to create the fuels that allow those structures to run. Not sure if that will have any impact without a lot of coordination, intelligence, and the usual amount of backstabby fun, but just a thought.
I'll have to check out the Beta, once I get my TV situation fixed so I can get my PS3 running once more.

I didn't know if I was suppose to talk about that publicly
Edit: Current Rumors, March 15 is the new beta start date rumor after Hilmar (guy in charge of CCP) responded to some twitter pestering from dust news sites with the tag #D514S153 153 being 15 March [2012] since in iceland its usually day month year.
Also, personal dust beta status page goes up tomorrow.

Kwark will smack us both if we weren't supposed to. :p
I'm excited to give it a go, definitely ready to lead the TL Ground forces charge to battle!

I remember looking into this game a few months ago and thinking it sounded interesting, but I absolutely suck at shooters with gamepads. If I can plug in a keyboard and mouse I'll definitely give it a shot... I've got a PS3 but it's for rock band :D

I thought I read in one of the OP's articles that no KB/mouse integration T_________T
That kinda breaks the game for me, I could be wrong about that though...like 80% sure I read it somewhere.

All thats really been said openly about control schemes
Will CCP be making sure the Sharpshooter/Move will be fully competitive with DS3 users?
We are dedicated to making a smooth integration for the SONY Move. But we also want to allow choices for the players. Some may prefer DS3, while others may go with Move and still others might want to use keyboard and mouse. We will be providing more details on this later on.
at least hints that they want to offer it.

Thanks! I will hold out some hope for it Spent about 4 hours playing Counter-Strike with friends today but it'd be neat if there were PERMANENT CONSEQUENCES...

So it's going to be with micro-transactions, this is probably a smart move considering they are somewhat of an 'indie' dev.
So gonna buy me a ps3 now ;o

How has this news not pissed off the entire PC Eve playerbase? Since the the two games are supposed to be somewhat connected...
