I don't get the realism mod either, you don't have to fast travel if you don't want to and lots of people carry compasses x.x on a completely hypocritical note I wish loading screens had a "press any button to continue" thing, because it loads too fast for me to read the text and gawk at the cool looking models. and i guess that shadow improvement thing looks cool and ill check it out. Still, most of the mods (That aren't bug fixes or obvious visual improvements) seem to be rather nit picky and stupid.

BTW, I don't know what's the reason, but I simply couldn't load the game when I had "rendermax" installed, and my map wasn't showing any texture when I installed "3D map". So I just uninstalled these 2, and it works perfectly. Thanks for a better gaming experience, and thx to everyone on skyrimnexus ![]()

+ Show Spoiler + Modname: Vurts Skyrim Flora Overhaul Source: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=141 Author: vurt What it does: Right now, treeeees! They look way cooler this way imo, you can select from a few different versions, too. Comment: I use "Subtle Green" and recommend bark 1 or 2, but check them for yourself. Installation is a bit effy atm, I just installed the first version, overwrote stuff and overwrote/deleted for the bark textures. Hmm.. for me all hotkey issues are fine since 1.1, did you try hovering over them after opening favorites with Q and pressing 1-8? I can understand mods for a game like this much further on, when everything has been done over and over (like with diablo 2), then you'd like stuff to get harder and require more teamwork. Right now, it feels like telling the developers: ok job you did there making that world and all, but we can all do a better job...in a few days. The answer to this is pretty simple: It's a Bethesda Game. Both Morrowind and Oblivion (not sure about Fallout 3, but I'd assume something similar) had HUGE modding communities. It usually starts with "hey, this texture looks kinda meh... gimme half an hour" and ends with "uh, so I thought I could make this or that better so I created a mod with 1GB content (Oscuros Oblivion Mod is kinda like that". Since the official construction kit isn't out yet the current "mods" are mostly texture reworks and .ini / d3d9.dll tweaks. Once the tools are out you can expect the fancy stuff to drop out. From what I remember about Oblivion in the first 3-4 weeks also most "teams" start assembling. Aka "hey, we want to completely overhaul the Flora. We need textures for trees & plants, maybe some new shadowmaps..... hey, can we get a guy to help us who's good with snow? Oh, fuck, let's ask this guy who tries to mod how alchemy works into the boat." =D On November 17 2011 04:00 Daikas wrote: Why are there two SkyrimPrefs.ini files? One in My Documents -> Skyrim and one in Steam Directory -> Skyrim. Does it matter which file I modify? Most of the tweaks say to do it in My Documents. I've checked that modifying one does not modify the other, so they're not pointing to the same file. Without Steam there are two, too and the one you have to mod is in Skyrim\Skyrim, not the one in Skyrim\ @Whoever asked which tools are being used: It seems a lot of the basic stuff is similar to Oblivion and some of the old tools still work. However, no one can get to the real fun stuff like AI behavior, scripting etc. ------------------- Need a short opinion on this one since I seriously can't decide myself: Which snowflakes do you guys like more? 1) http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=296 2) http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=363

The great great great things about this game, is that it's a singleplayer experience thats completely customized. So sure you might enjoy game as is, but there are tools out there for people to change the game in drastic ways or small ways. I don't get the realism mod either, I usually walk everywhere myself, but i'm sure later on as walking gets old I'll start using the fast travel options. Oblivion was pretty dull for me, I only spent about 40 hours with the vanilla experience until I found mods, I probably have 400+ hours on OOO and MMM, and Francescos, and tons of quest mods, etc that I've messed around with.

I don't even think the other one is a noticeable improvement. If you put those images next to each other and asked which one was the 'improved' version I wouldn't be able to tell you. Same with beautiful skyrim, many of those textures look the same or much worse even :/ In fact, many of the beautification projects out now are not improvements in my opinion. It's to be expected since the game just came out. I can't wait for when the real mods start rolling out. Better interior textures is excellent though. Looks much better than the vanilla, which is awful.

Just frustrates me when someone looks at me wrong and I can't bash his face in and then murder his associate to get rid of witnesses...Spent a long time on google and only found people talking about murdering children :-/. Alright, that is totally not disturbing whatsoever. Maybe there is a kindred soul out there that has made just the mod for you! I thought there was a console command to kill something, not sure if it works on questgivers, probably not.
