what a nice present from the good folks at valve for christmas eh ? granted it doesnt affect me much ( being silver 4 XD) and iv only ever seen 1 person i suspected of cheating so far in ~100ish hours just curious to any guys at higher ranks, how much affect has the banwave had? from reddit posts and such it seems like eagle plus seems to have plenty, and global is meant to be infested XD

It's huge, I checked my recent history quickly at LE/LEM level and there are 3 guys that got banned. Hackers are sadly pretty common after DMG, and awfully common at SMFC/GE levels.
|
holy fuck it makes my blood boil to see people with ak rank and silver flairs in reddit say that they think one short clip is blatant cheating
it's also sort of funny because i'm sure that a lot of those people's judgement is clouded by them betting against orbit and being upset over losing their skins

i can't play competitive with my friend because he won a match yesterday and today another
now we have to wait 20h to play again, this system is so fucking annoying
also, we went to a casual and there was a guy hacking

Yeah unfortunately I don't think the new "smurfing rules" are doing much. The hackers/smurfers all have more than just 2 accounts since the game was practically given away for free on Day 1 of the holiday auctions. The only people that are truly hurt by these new cooldown rules are the ones like you who genuinely want to play the game.
I myself have half a dozen accounts with CSGO on them. I use only two, 1 is my main and the other is a backup in case I get banned in competitive for a week.

Wait, I thought it only prevented you from getting more than 2 wins a day being counted towards receiving a rank? If you're both unranked nothing is stopping you from playing together, is there?

I get a hacker in 1 out of 3-4 games at DMG. Since I usually play with a friend, that's 1 hacker for every 23-31 clean players, roughly 3-4%. They always have a friend so they can't get kicked, and sometimes the friend is hacking too. I've heard estimates as high as 25% for global elite, though that would mean an average of 2-3 hackers in every game, which is not the case from the streams I've watched. It seems to be closer to 10%, which is still really high.

How can you say there are that many hackers at DMG?

A lot of LEM+ smurfs in DMG, but not many hackers.

I'm basing it on the last 200 or so games I've played. I watch demos of all the matches in which I suspect a guy is cheating, rather than assuming. They tend to give themselves away by having really bad aim, spray control, and crosshair placement but almost never get surprised (looking somewhere other than where the enemy comes from). When moving around they'll also tend to do things like not check dangerous angles/positions and aim low. A lot of the wallers also appear to be incredible awpers because they hold an angle and just watch the guy as he's coming and click when he peeks. New steam accounts, few hours played, no other games, etc suggest smurfing or cheating. Smurfs are much more likely to have other games on their smurf accounts, though.
Obvious aimbots and the like are extremely rare at DMG, though. Only ever encountered 3.

But even then, 200 games isn't that much in the grand scale of counter strike and DMG is only a decent skill level but overall not even that good. (I'm a DMG). I'd bet most of the time you're wrong about the person cheating. It's just an easy scapegoat for people to use for why they lose and aren't in a higher skill group.

You can't play anymore competitive games after your account has 2 wins until the cooldown has been resolved. So yeah they can play together but as long as one person's account is maxed out on wins for the day, then they can't queue a competitive match together.

I was only drawing inferences about DMG games from my DMG games. 200 games isn't much in the grand scale but it certainly is a large enough sample. I explained the methods by which I decide someone is cheating or not; rather than saying I'm usually wrong, point out any problems with them or other important criteria I missed.
I know some of the people you're talking about, who blame everything but their own skill for their ranking, and I am not one of those. I know hacking hurts everyone who doesn't hack or play regularly with a hacker, and if a hacker is banned his match history (and the resulting changes in skill rating) are erased anyway.

That sucks. I thought it allowed you to play but they wouldn't be counted as wins for placement.

I'd say his assessment matches my experience in DMG, with approx. 200 wins of my own to add to the anecdotal sample pool.
In addition to the how I "determine if someone is a cheater" conversation, hearing "I used to play main/p/etc 1.6" is the easiest way. Cross reference that with their crosshair placement. You will not find one player that was legitimately 1.6 cevo or cal m+ that doesn't know where to keep their crosshairs. In fact, I'd say crosshair placement is one of the easiest giveaways for me (or I tend to bank on it when making my assessment) since I'd argue it's one of the primary skills that distinguishes between objectively good and bad players.

i 100% guarantee you are just bad at spotting cheats and call it on anyone who has any gamesense at all
800 wins at LEM level btw, havn't even used the report feature in weeks.

Lots of cheaters last 3 days, one even vac banned during game, volvo needs to do something about it. Nearly unplayable around MG.

Around mg.. I hope you're joking..
I'm hovering mg1-mge, only played against 1 guy that seemed fishy, and even then it could've just been a guy who is just better.

I agree. 300 wins at GN4 and I think I've played against only 3 blatant hackers. 1 guy was juan deagling everyone every round, the other two were just walling and sniping everyone crossing mid in de_dust2. Plenty of smurfs though.

Impressive. I wish I could make a 100% guarantee on such little information. Given that people call me a hacker fairly often simply because I have better game sense and sound positioning than people of my rank (I have very inconsistent aim since i'm sorta new to CS), I am aware of this possibility and have already accounted for it. Feel free to criticize the methods I listed in an earlier post, but don't take a probabilistic assumption about me and make a guarantee out of it.
