The game looked rather clunky with weird animations, almost like they basically took L4D and shoehorned CS weapons into it. Other than that it looked better than I expected but not something that will get me away from CS:S. It looked like a mix of COD and 1.6 and to be honest, if I wanted to play COD I'd play COD and if I wanted to play 1.6 I'd play 1.6, they both reached the pinnacle of their niches of the shooter genre imo and it's pointless to keep trying to copy it.

I dont actually like the visual style of the game for some reason. It looks so gritty and muddy whereas cs was almost surreal in how clean everything was.

Ah well the only thing that matters is how it plays. The 5v5 ONLY auto matchmaking system is by far the biggest part of this cs not the visuals or even the gameplay to a lesser extent. They can change all that after launch but if they make cs into an instant pug for all skills it will create a new scene overnight.

I am just sooooooo so so so thankful that it seems they understand the actual reason that 1.6 players rejected source.

It is not "oh they don't have good computers", my computer is ridiculously sick, it was never about not being able to handle sources graphics.

It was about not being able to cope with sources terrible gameplay compared to 1.6

I keep going back and forth on CS:GO. Last night it just looked like they were playing a re-skinned Source. It just didn't look like it was a very good game, the same way Source just isn't all that great an experience.

On the other hand if they are as open to change as they say they are then the finished product won't be that way at all. I guess we'll see

Wow! I love the graphics on this game so much, they stayed completely loyal to the CS franchise graphics instead of going way over-the-top with eye-candy that gets in the way of competitive play. I'm honestly really excited for this game now, CS has always been my favorite style of FPS in terms of mechanical feel and pathing.

With matchmaking I think everyone will love it even if they fuck stuff up along the way, which hopefully they will really listen and fix things as they go. Being able to hop on at any time and jump into a 5v5 that would be huge, can't see that failing at all. If they get that stuff right while trying to appeal to the 1.6 competitive guys slowly but surely this "could" be were CS goes. Gotta have faith bro, because unless your on ESEA the NA scene is deeaaad for 1.6 so this can't do anything but help.

I think it is important to remember at this point the game is still considered pre-alpha and a lot of tweaking to both the gameplay and visuals of the game are going to take place before we even get close to a retail release.

One thing the casters talked about at IEM was the new kit system and how they're droppable.

Instead of buying defuse kits, the CTs are randomly given 2 at the beginning of the round and you can drop it. Their solution was just to send one to each site and drop it in the middle of the site.

Makes sense and overcomes the "restriction" they put in, the problem is it's just too easy. Even though they used to be cheap, at least there was some tactical decision to be made, especially on pistol rounds. Now they're just going to be available, all the time.

Unless I'm missing some detail, it seems like a short sighted decision, to me.
