You can also try some FE Hacks that up the difficulty though, but can sometimes be completely unfair and downright evil...
that's the same i found by googling fire emblem 5 is supposed to be the hardest one. i wanted a direct answer tho, so, thank you!
i've never been a fan of hacks...
thank you for your reply

Shadow Dragon pissed me off later on because it got laughably easy. It was a mistake to keep all the stats of enemies the same as they were in the original, yet increase the stat cap for your units to 30. Everyone becomes stupidly weak. Obviously, playing on the hardest difficult is a good option, but I'm just saying that normal was waaaay too easy to be called "normal". They built up Camus to be some ridiculous badass and my Cain/Abel just roflstomped him easily. Oh yea. Not saying that it was the best or anything and it did get really easy after a bit. I only played it that much cause it was portable and I was on the bus alot. My favorite would have to be FE5 cause of difficulty.
Yeah, portability helps a ton. I had a lot of fun trying to slog through the highest difficulty mode, but never quite got too far. Does anyone know if the enemy stats in the highest difficulty actually go above 30? I might go back for the challenge if that's the case.

The Greil Mercenaries are kinda overpowered but Micaiah's party vastly underpowered due to low levels.
What is really funny to me is that I took into the tower 5 Dawn People just because they are so good if they are leveled. It would have been 6 but I got majorly RNG screwed with Nolan. His strength was lower than Laura's(I always BEXP her)

Fire emblem is awesome.
I bought the first english Fire Emblem for the GBA on little more then the box art and my god did i love that game. But when i played it it was pretty young and not used to games fucking you over.
How could i possibly know that super strong paladin character was leeching exp wich made my party so weak that they literally could not clear the game (final map was a bitch).
Later i replayed it and managed to clear it after realising that the paladin sucked. But those devs are really fucking rude. Not only does every fire emblem have a damn pre-classed character like this Marcus, but in every game they also suck major balls so every bit of exp they steal is wasted. Purely designed to fuck over new players no doubt.
Still, i can't help but love the series and i have played every translated fire emblem. I still love the Swordmaster and Assasin classes, especially their crit animations. The only thing i don't like is how the sprites from the GBA games are way cooler then all the other games.
The Wii and DS graphics are just ugly imo whilst the sprites from the GBA breathed style.

Easily one of my favorite games ever

Didnt know about this either, but once i learned about the Jeigan character i usually just kept them at the start of the map and didnt even move them.
I think the only exception was Seth from FE8(despite that being one of the easier games) he was pretty legit

This is easily my favourite GBA series, FE8 was my first GBA game ever. I played FE7 next but I never got around to playing FE6. I played this series alot but i don't remember what "RNG" means

Random number generated.
Basically means that the stats your character receives are random, altough slightly hinted towards certain outcomes.
This makes some characters generally grow better then others but at the same time it creates situations where through sheer luck some characters end up sucking because they keep getting the wrong stats.

I only played The Sacred Stones (FE8), but it's one of my favorite games.

It's how they shit on you with the starting promoted character.
Good stats with like 10% chance to level a stat and basically fuck you over if you use them.
I've had some terrible luck with some of the starting characters too though(Lyn @ Fe7 a time or two..)

Stop this. All these epic nostalgia threads keeps remembering me how good the old games were
I loved that game so much on the GBA. Damn, good old times, so many great games that I keep forgetting about them
|
Ive played 2 of them for gba? The level up system is dumb. You can get unlucky and keep leveling will little stat gains. In this sense, you could have characters 3 levels higher with lower stats. Otherwise a great game with nice character classes.
After reading more posts, I take it this is the main problem with the game. It should be fixed.

My first Fire Emblem was Path of Radiance and I loved it. Borrowed Radiant Dawn and played FE7 and 8 on emulators afterwards but didn't finish them. Great series as far as I'm concerned even if I have little experience with it.

I love Fire Emblem so much. One of my favourite game series. I've beaten FE7 so many times. I've only played from FE6 onward though (inc. the DS remake of 1). 6 is pretty damn hard but so satisfying when you beat a chapter. I even downloaded an emulator on my phone so I can play Fire Emblem 6-8 whenever I want :D
|
Finally, a thread for this. :D
Played 6-8 for the GBA, and 11 and 12 for the DS. Haven't gotten around to 9 or 10 since no one I know has a Gamecube/Wii.
I think 6 was the hardest for the ones I've played, followed by Lunatic Reverse for 12 and Hector Hard mode for 7. Reason why I didn't put Lunatic Reverse for 12 at top was because of the "My Character feature". If you knew what class to start as and when to class change, you have an instant "I Win" button at your disposal.
|
Also played FE6 - FE8. Beat all of them a few times I think. Hiding Marcus at the start so he didn't leech exp was so ridiculous xD
|
Played a silly amount of time on the GBA series back in the day. I haven't played any of the DS GC or Wii ones though because I didn't bother buying any of those systems. Its a shame because I really liked them. They were very hard especially if you tried to get a "perfect" game and not let anyone die.... man I nearly threw my GBA a few times over that one -_-;
|
Only played FE8, it was pretty fun game but somehow I found it hard- which embarrasses me as general consensus seem to be that FE8 is one of the easiest from the series. Never had chance to try out others =/
Nevertheless lol at this
[Fire Emblem series] are all incredibly fun games that for some reason always fly under the radar. Yeah? Check Yggdra Union (series).

Haha @ people who got screwed over by Marcus. The funniest thing is that they troll you in the Sacred Stones by actually giving the "Jeigan" character (Seth) actually good stat growths. He still saps XP early on, but if you actually level him up, he's pretty good.
Oh, and Hesmyrr, definitely check out FE4 and FE5 - you can get a SNES emulator and find them pretty easily - no guilt because they've never been released in the US, either (And they both have english patches that are easily found) FE6 and FE7 are also perfectly within reach if you don't have qualms with pirating them (FE6 wasn't even released in the US either, also having an english patch, so I don't see pirating it as a big deal, but a used copy of FE7 should be nice and cheap).

Which series do you recommend? I don't think I will have time to play them all when I have time to do so.
