I mean, I don't get to merciless that fast. And without trading you are forced into a pretty select subset of builds to be reliably fast. Plus 70 is where most of my theoretical builds are just getting going, not an end point 
And solo isn't really fun for me in the first place.

Any time friday or earlier saturday etc. Its not a huge deal because a 5-day race is going to occur primarily during work days anyway but from friday afternoon to wednesday afternoon is the ideal setup. Yes timezones but starting saturday afternoon here isn't friday afternoon anywhere so :/
I'm not like mad or anything, just commenting that this isn't ideal for me so I likely won't be playing these races.

I'll sign your opinion on it being not optimal, and it's also a rather boring race. I'm OK with solo, but still would have liked some mods like more exiles or whatever. Or a shorter, maybe 1 day, endless ledge race or something.

I got a beta invite after not having played since a few weeks after release (1.0).. decided to sell my invite. I don't get why people cannot wait a few more weeks.
Game looks like fun, I may pick it up again then. But I'll take it slow this time.

I'm going to play the 5-day and see where I get, will be in hardcore one and don't know how much time I can devote, but if I'm doing shit and nowhere near top 35 I can make 70 I'm sure and then go do the same in the SC one. If others are going to be doing the event as well we can maybe hang out in teamspeak to keep from getting too bored just playing solo :D.

+ Show Spoiler +So in Merciless Act 4 was a minor let down in terms of difficulty. Piety and Dominus felt stronger than what I faced in Act 4 in terms of bosses. Sure Voll is scary when he hits you but he is very kiteable. Daresso was just face-tank rightclick and Kaom can hurt tho with a Ruby and two Granites he is pretty easy compared to Dominus...
All in all it feels very good to be able to level to 70 just by progressing through the content. Highest level area so far is 69.

Ground Slam does around 13k dps (w/o rallying cry) now in a 4-Link and I'm playing around with sweep atm cause a 17% quality one dropped and the %base dmg increase needs to be tested with it imo - currently at 11k without rally.
Tested Sweep with the Knockback->Sucktion gloves (thanks to pohx who lend me his). It was pretty sucky or well underwhelming. Maybe with a passive tree specced into Knockback(-range) it can be more fun.

Is it confirmed that this is all of the content in Act 4? Or is it still only 65% that's available? Do we get to fight The Beast once all the content is released?
Humble brag about my situation, after finding Windripper in the 1month, I managed to farm enough currency to buy Mjolner, then found a guy in trade chat posting "WTT Shavs for Mjolner", so I instantly took that deal (about 7-10ex in my favor). Now I have found a buyer for my Windripper in Standard, which will allow me to buy Mjolner back. I have Voll's Devotion from last league, so I will have all the most expensive pieces to play the "budget" version of Lowlife Mjolner. Not bad for only 6 months back in the game. I'm going to follow this build http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1181110. Anyone with experience with Lowlife or Mjolner builds care to comment on the build guide? The goal is to farm Atziri and then Uber BEFORE the xpac / new leagues come out.

It is confirmed, that only 65% of act will be shown in beta. It is also confirmed, that what we have seen right now is not even that 65%.

A couple of things to clear up before the race:
If you enter a new western forest instance through the waypoint, is it possible to tell which way leads towards alira + blackguard dudes as opposed to the entrace.
Can all corrupted zones drop any vaal skill, or do some vaal skills only start dropping past a certain area level?
And is spending time on masters quests even worth it for such a short league?

Do you have a tree for it or a guide? Although i guess the tree should be quite straightforward.

Without any knowledge of a crit fire trap tree I'd do something like this, which is of course too many points but you don't need all of it for it too work I guess. Also not sure if EE is worth it, but I'd think so. Maybe use freezing pulse for generating power charges (with PCoC) and spreading EE or something.
If for HC probably more life and less dmg, for SC it should be OK-ish.
