For the game, really nice so far. Just finished Act1 (playing sorc) some good and bas so far Good: - graphic are pretty good even on my toaster - Story is nice - Boss are awesome, only one that i didn't really like. I would maybe like that, if you pass 50% of is health and you die, the boss come back at 50% HP. and if he is at like 60% and you die, he come back at 100%, but it's not a big deal. - the way the gems are collected is nice. Bad (not that bad but not great) - Some rare are just crazy strong. I had 1 type of rare that is so far the hardest thing i seen in PoE2 - probably because of my toaster PC but the grass in one zone was glitchy - Not a fan of, you die in a zone and all the mobs are back/ressurected.

The only complaint I have so far is the reload on Merc's crossbow skills. Not only is it annoyingly slow, but when you dodge roll it cancels the reloading animation. So you run empty on bolts, character starts to reload manually, you obviously dodge roll to avoid damage, the dodge roll cancels the reload animation, you finish the dodge roll and start reloading again... a very vicious circle. If anything, dodge roll should help you reload, gameplay-wise because of the fluidity. Nades are fun and the physics are such a joy to see. Grenades bounce off shields & walls, and can be bodyblocked by bigger enemies. From the crossbow skills I prefer using Frag Rounds (basically turns Xbows into a shotgun) and High Velocity Rounds (Sniper-like penetrating rounds). I tried the other non-elemental bolts like Armour-shredding, but I decided to leave Armour-shredding to my gas grenades with support gems. They shred armour like crazy anyway. I wanna try some elemental xbow skills next, like incendiary rounds or the ice ones, but I need to find more uncut support gems first.

I'm a bit mixed overall. Gear is definitely feeling like hot garbage with minimal opportunities to improve it so far. I was expecting a lot more out of the dead-end chests and 'high value' optional stuff. Passive tree so far feels a lot worse than POE1 with huge swaths of travel nodes to get anywhere. Contrary to early reports, I only found a single exalt in act 1 & 2. Not sure if they changed it or I'm just unlucky. Feels like runes are intended to fix early resists, but it's pretty hard to find/make a usable piece of gear with rune slots and other wanted status. I've only found 2 currencies to add a rune slot so far. Channeling spells feel more usable than POE1, but the ramp time and continual slowdown make them still feel rather clunky in comparison. Maybe they'll feel better with more investment. So far investing in cast speed has felt like a waste of points; I basically can't tell the difference. Mana costs have really ramped out of control already - not really looking forward to lategame spell caster problems. Respec costs are also a lot worse than I'd expected. Not sure about where it'll end up at maps, but it's about 5x where I'd want it to be in campaign. Combat is also a bit mixed. It's nice being able to retain some control during casting and dodge roll out of a cast as needed. The lack of any mobility skills and phasing makes combat often feel very clunky. There are times when enemies just spawn out of thin air around you and you simply don't have any options but to spam your damage abilities and potions and hope to clear a path. Feels pretty unfun to play around that. Dodge roll sometimes gets really glitchy trying to path around a handful of enemies and just slams into them when there's plenty of open room to go around. The main latency-like issues I've experienced are getting stutter-stepped into a previous position due to enemy movement colliding with the player. I've been trying WASD since start and, like everything else, I'm finding it a bit mixed. It's nice being able to move around while aiming in other directions. Keybinds are really hard to make use of with WASD. There's just a lot of buttons you can't press easily when continually moving your fingers between WASD keys. I've been relying a lot more on my alternate mouse buttons to compensate. Hoping things smooth out a bit as levels and gear improve.

Edit: Apparently, PoE veterans/streamers/YouTubers are recommending to just run through the giant maps and go from quest objective to quest objective, making the game very linear because exploration is apparently not that rewarding. Basically, fetch quests and occasional boss battles are the names of the game, making this an Action RPG without much Action.

Almost feels bugged how so many things drop literally nothing including gold.

Of course, this is a stark contrast to PoE, which we naturally compare it to. However, if you try to ignore your experience from PoE, PoE2 doesn't seem bad at all imho. I'm getting upgrades from a combination of drops, shop and crafting currency. The pace is also good so that they feel like upgrades and won't let you outpace the game difficulty curve. I have some gripes with the game but drops are certainly not part of them.

Really not enjoying it at all. Every fight being this long tedious experience of doing the same thing for 5 minutes is just not enjoyable.

Every fight being this long tedious experience of doing the same thing for 5 minutes is just not enjoyable. That's ok. I somewhat have this experience in boss fights. They are just taking too long in my opinion, especially when they have multiple phases. GGG even went so far to have some bosses go back to full life for the next phase when you had already beaten them to 25 %. Everytime I see this in a game, I feel the violent urge to send death threads to the dev responsible. Kidding of course, but it is bad game design in my opinion and just annoying to deal with if you die and you have to go through all of the previous shit again just to get a try at the last phase. Anyways, because the two games are so different, I'm really glad they decided to keep them as separate entities so everyone is free to enjoy their favourite or the good of both worlds.

I tough we were supposed to use currency to make our gears but currency drop is abysmal ![]() im lvl 25 and only got 4 rare item on me (using staff so no shield). on a better note, the ascendency trial isn't too bad, the sanctum like trial is easier then I was expecting. But the chest at the end are just useless. Bronze chest = white or blue item. Opened 1 silver chest just to get 2 blue jewel, and opened 1 gold chest to get 1 crapy rare helm =[

I'm enjoying myself for now but I'm fairly certain that is because its new. I question how many will prefer PoE 2 over 1 once the honeymoon period ends.

I think the general consensus is that if you are a PoE 1 player: You'll hate this (at least in the state it is right now) If you're new to ARPGs or coming from other games that aren't PoE, you'll love it.

Coming from Diablo 1, 2, 3, and 4, I definitely don't love PoE2. Maybe players will love PoE2 if they're coming from Dark Souls / games that focus more on boss rushes/marathons, as this fits their preferred genre a bit better. And I'm very happy for them!

What grinds my gears (ha) a bit is that there seems to be a general expectation in terms of campaign speed that took PoE years of both power levels but also player skills to achieve. Give it some time and I'm pretty sure campaign will be just a few hours slower in total than the current PoE 1 campaign. Gotta git gud first. The item progression feels really nice to me personally, picking up rares is nice, magic items can be upgrades early on and exalting gear during levelling (and being excited for it to roll +stats) is kinda funny. In other news basic guild functions seem to work now so keep throwing out those IGNs so we can invite everyone again, should be able to get some extra slots and stashtabs with a few point donations as well. What could they possible add? Its almost like they did a remake, which probably ends up being Path of Exile 1 in the end Agreed, this really feels like they went back to their drawing boards from 15 years ago (back when PoE was announced as a "gritty hardcore arpg") and decided to revisit that vision - just with a much more massive budget and experience.

I think that if they jack up some drop rates just a little bit more everything would feel better. I'm enjoying myself otherwise, grenadier merc is working well so far. WASD feels way better than I thought it would. I don't know if I can donate points for stash tabs for the guild but if you need I will send, at the very least we can pool together some good gear among ourselves.

I started looking at some streams now that I've seen the acts myself and it seems like there's a pretty heavy majority of people that are unhappy with the lack of loot. I think it's all compounding on itself: slow fights made slower by bad gear, gear that's worse because low drops of items/currency, passive tree that's weaker because of huge swaths of travel nodes, and skill balance that's very uneven. Another thought I've been having is there's way way way too few skills and supports. If you wanted to do fire spells, for example, there's barely a handful to choose from. I have several skills with open support slots because there aren't supports available and I'm still on mostly 3-links. I dunno what's going to happen at 6 links with so few options to choose from. There are also some supports that are bugged and not working on certain skills. Right now it feels like even if I could choose duplicate supports I wouldn't want to spam the same one on every skill, but there are several cases where I want to use the same support 2 or 3 times across the build. I think they overcompensated with this change. Maybe a year from now with another 100 supports it'll feel better, but right now there's just not enough. A full gem loadout (with no extra item skills) will fit 45 supports which must now be unique. I think they'd need 500 supports before that feels right.
