It's the rarest Esh unique though. I don't think you will get it quickly. The Mirror and HoWA are definitely more common. It's probably as rare as Xoph's Blood, if you know how rare that feels

Skin of the Lords for sure was much rarer, and I believe blessings were also harder to find. I can't remember about the regular uniques, though I want to say everything drops less now?

Oh yeah I guess that's true, it does sound like a problem. Then again, the amulet is not mandatory but quite the dps boost. I imagine if I spec breach and specialize Esh it should be manageable still... Can't be THAT bad right? :/

It's kinda rough for him, he will miss league start. Then again, not undeserved considering how toxic he is acting at times and during the drama there.
I did a short practise run to Act3 Piety to test the trap gems, they all have their pros and cons. I think I will have to use Lightning Trap for Breach farming, the other two have too small AoE so I'd bet you get overwhelmed. Ice Trap might work as it offers some utility through freezing, it also felt the most consistent in clearing "strong box size" packs. Explosive Trap had the best damage but without a bunch of AoE it felt like the area was only good enough for really small packs.

I'm not surprised. I tuned into his stream once and couldn't bear it for more than 5 minutes.
I played Ice Trap in Ultimatum and it was pretty smooth and safe. It struggled a bit with stragglers in maps but that's about all the negatives I'm able to remember.

You should try it out. I’ve done that league with a group of 5-10 friends the past 3 seasons, and it’s really fun. We used to run our own private leagues with 15-20 people for a couple of years, but we can’t get that many people these days so conflux has been a good alternative.
The economy is really good considering the size. Just make sure to join the in-game conflux trade/global chats. The discord has WTB/WTS channels too.

1500 people economy should be decent indeed. But: I'm not that interested in trading much, I would sell / give away free stuff more than I'd try to get items myself. Only Ephemeral Edge and Voice of the Storm are items that I might not get after farming for a few days so I could see myself checking if they dropped for someone else.
Possibly also some Dense Fossils, but I'll try to get them myself.
edit: Joined, 480 / 600 so far. Been a while since I logged into my PoE account, apparently been playing since February 2013.  So over 10 years now... and still excited.

I just played a small private league in Crucible, the one with Steelmage. Small-mid sized league like that is amazing. The economy feels a lot better, you can do whatever you want and not feel like you're falling behind. Highly recommended

Still ping-pong-ing around various pie-in-the-sky nonsense builds (Saboteur Arcanist Brand/Triggerbot SRS? Occultist lvl1 Stormbind w/spellblade/battlemage?), it's like Christmas.
Anyone know what the best way to level a chaos/poison Occultist is these days? AFAK Poisonous Concotion was nerfed as a levelling option - how painful is levelling Caustic Arrow (mule CA + Mirage Archer from Tidal Island?) as a witch vs classic Blight/ED vs doing a Rolling Magma/Flame Wall/HFT into Arma Brand/Cremation? Need to figure how much is tree-agnostic vs a big respec.

My current plan is cold dot something into crit spark ascendant. Pretty much going the full phys taken -> ele conversion route and permaflasks via Pathfinder. Not sure if I'll just do cold dot ascendant or start elem/trickster and reroll later.

I want to play self-cast forbbiden rite with the Mahuxotl's Machination shield but that is not very league starter (the shield is kinda expensive) so I will start with poison blade vortex (I used to play it before the nerfs years ago, and I kinda miss it) and I will respect the character later. I will play pathfinder.

My plan is a Cold DoT Trickster which should give me a solid start for ssf.
Probably not the best Cold Dot ascendancy but should be competitive and i didnt try out a Trickster after the rework yet.
Also proly should be decent enough for Sanctum and Trial of the Ancestors.
No idea yet for my 2nd build...

I'm starting with a toxic rain pathfinder and I definitely want to make a manaforged arrows build too (probably on saboteur for the free 30% crd). Playing sc trade this time, last league I played a small hardcore gsf and it was a ton of fun.

well, Arma / Cremation is way faster than the options you listed. It's hyper smooth. One click clear pack, really good boss damage for acts + early maps. If you are fine with some risk you can do shield charge + haste in the campaign and its zooming. falls off in red maps
poisonous concoction is still good damage wise, but the flask sustain is pretty annoying. I played it a bit before transitioning to Toxic Rain. Need to take flask node + use 2-3 life flasks. If you're fine with that, its still strong until lvl 85 or 90.
For traditional Chaos DoT, the boss damage is super rough. Even when the build was strong, this was an issue, and it got various nerfs over the years directly/indirectly. The clear is good but not insane, esp with ED/C 2 button playstyle. Wouldn't recommend. Bane pop might be alright though
Caustic Arrow alone isn't really enough early, you'd have to supplement it with Toxic Rain. Then you're basically playing a slow PF with an awkward tree.
I'd do either Poison Conc or Arma brand. Something like Hexblast or Impending Doom is probably strong but I don't know how those builds work

There is one reason why the next league might not actually reach player numers higher than the peak so far. It's Baldurs Gate 3, a lot of players are not finished with it yet, and it's a great game. Sure it's a dfifferent player base, but there ARE lots of players that enjoy Diablo and PoE that enjoy Baldurs Gate 3.
We shall see.

I league started as Ascendant Cold DoT last league and boy oh boy that build felt amazing. I basically copied what Jungroan had been doing a some time ago and it was so cool to tech in ailment imunity with militant faith using natural instinct and the uber cortex jewel, lol. It just felt like there was always some cool thing to work towards. Really enjoyed that character. Cold DoT kind of is my default character for many things, though, so your mileage may vary. :>
I'll start Boneshatter Juggernaut this league, never really played melee before (aside from Boneshatter Slayer in Ruthless HC which I enjoyed until I died to exploding crystals pre-nerf haha). Gonna see if I feel like scaling it to lategame or just make a new char somewhat soonish into the league. Absolution Guardian also looked quite amazing with the triple aura tbh.
