There's some wiggle room - let's say you were rolling 2H mace, but then found a GG axe. You can probably respec easily. But if you are playing summoner, then find a Tremor Rod - you probably don't have enough regrets / respec points to shift your entire tree to mines. Not to mention you are probably a Necromancer, when you would prefer to be a Saboteur or a Scion. You could pick a build that has some inherent flexibility, like generic spell Elementalist, but it makes more sense to focus on a specific build. E: asked a friend who plays SSF - apparently you can get enough regrets to do big respecs, but it takes planning ahead. He said he did Trickster ED contagion for a while (good mapping early) then respecced into Sabo Mines when he had the gear to do so | ||

Going SSF as well, helps to know what you want to do and it helps if there are no unrealistic gear requirements. Even a crappy, very common unique item can be a pain to find. What you said about melee is right for Mace/Axe builds especially, Sword and Staff builds are pathing quite different usually. But either of those could be respecced effortlessly indeed, if one wants to do so. You get a lot of respec points from quests and if you don't waste them your Regret Orb amount grows quite quickly. If I was playing trade league this time around, maybe I would go for a Stormfire Ignite Penance Elementalist. Seems interesting and potentially very strong. | ||

I am quite inexperienced at poe. Last time I played was back when the game had the diabloesque 3x repeat on higher difficulty. What do you guys think is the strategy to go for in a league, if one has little time to invest? I'm thinking single character that scales well into lategame, or easy respec to transition from early maps to bosskiller. My goal would ne to kill shaper (never did before) or whatever new boss the league has to offer on a limited te budget. | ||
