I miss when trade chat was a legitimate method of trade. Back when xyz was just starting and people posted these massive spoilered forum posts advertising 60 life single res gear lmao.
ZiggyD is trying something similar to "old" poe trade. He has a private league where no magic/rares drop, so you have to craft, and no trade index sites allowed (honor system). all trade through trade chat or discord.
I kind of liked the sense of discovery I suppose? Like I remember randomly finding a really good dagger (Invalesco's crit shadow build heh) for like 5c on trade chat. It was a real steal and the memory still sticks with me. The tedium and luck required is definitely not worth it though haha. And I still get memorable item / trade interactions on occasion with the modern system
Yo. I need a crafting guru or two. So I got a bunch of moneys right now and thought fuck it, maybe craft yourself a good staff. Like... maybe standard fortify + multimod or so. So I bought a nice 86 elder staff. Then I threw away 900 fuses on a 44% quality item and got nothing.
THEN I was pissed and just bought a 6L 86 elder staff, which i should`ve done first anyway, because trying to link any shit was always a net loss for me....
THEN i scoured that thing, threw a SINGLE transmute at it, and got flaring. Just flaring. Nothing else. And now i have no idea what to do ...
The only point of Elder 2H base is to roll the fortify mod and you should continue alt spam until you get it.
If you rolled one useful mod only, you can augment it for the chance of a second one before regal/annul. For super rare mods, there's a technique with beast imprint or crafting pre/suffixes cannot be changed and scouring to keep an affix, but it costs multiple exalts for each re-roll and probably shouldn't be applied to keep any single mod.
The expected number of fusings for a 6L is about 1000, and you can guarantee a 6L with 1500 at the crafting bench.

Is it actually ~1K fuse with max or near max quality today (think 48 is max nowadays?) . Thought it would go even lower that that with high quality. But yeah, in the end its pretty much rng anyway and you have to be able to live with losing all your fuses, no matter how many you throw at it.The 1.5K fuse craft is rarely cheaper than buying a linked one (in this case the 1.5K would`ve been around 1 ex more expensive).
I'll prob just try to get a 2nd decent mod. Would just feel bad to roll over a flaring, but you`re right. in the end, fortify should be the goal here.

Can't find any "big data" >30% quality-ish posts, but from when SlipperyJim spent 50k fusings on 0%, 20% & 30% quality items:
0% gear - 34 6-links (1,470 average)
20% gear - 44 6-links (1,136 average)
30% gear - 50 6-links with ~5200 fusings left (859 fusings average)

I dont think you can get more "big data" in the world of poe than what SlipperyJim provides. That guy is nuts. But yeah, good to see that i got the sad end of the rng stick again
(I'm also 1K alts in right now . I know why I dont do this shit before I`m mostly done with the league anyway Oo)
Yeah I really love the kind of dumb shit that Empy and SlipperyJim do. When it comes to how expensive things can be and how much RNG pervades PoE, it's really hard to get good data on a lot of things. But even dumb shit like 10k stacked decks or Vaaling different slots/uniques or whatever are both fun and informative for making your own wagers and price comparisons down the road.
Those 6L numbers are interesting for example. I wonder if the "1k fusings" number people always use was at 20% qual then (probably), and even still I feel like 1.1k average across almost 50,000 fusings is worth noting rather than the traditional 1k estimate. 100 fusings is a decent amount when you're pricing or buying a 6L vs gambling your own lol
Finally hit 36/40, though I'd been "saving up" a couple (hadn't run a temple with the throne etc, ground out timeless zones etc). Had semi-abandoned 6Ling my Elder Judgement Staff when I was 1889 fuses in after finally getting Vagan to cough up the last unveil for Hits Can't Be Evaded; decided to alt-spam craft a Shaped Assassin's Mark ring via multimod and put the craft on my multimod non-Elder weapon. Lo and behold, right before I decided to run Uber Elder, thought I'd throw some of the ~100ish fuses I'd earned since emptying my stockpile onto the staff and hit the 6L in 69 (lol) for a grand total of 1958 (my body armour took ~1700ish, both at ~46% qual - oh well, probably what I deserved after 6Ling something in less than 100 fuses last league). Almost out of exalts - think that's 16 of the 18 I've found this league gone to multi-mod crafting, heh, though the last big crafts I didn't get much use out of considering I'm probably done / burned out for the rest of the league. I think whatever I aim for next league, it'll be something that I'm not having to grind out rare unveils / bases / div cards for, eesh (or I turn to the dark side / trade league). 5/8 King's Heart, 3/8 The Scavenger ... the latter really shouldn't be as rare as it is.
Pretty sure if you multimod it and then scour it it will go straight to white. I don't think there's a way to remove individual multimods/crafts, only craft over them. Unless I'm misinterpreting what you mean.
O I meant using the remove crafted mods option from the bench that costs 1 scour. Once multi-modded, it is the only option left on the bench, but I'm not sure if doing that will turn it into blue or not, never tried it before.

Oh damn didn't know that existed. I've never tried to UN-multimod something lol. Sick.
I went with Life, 20% dmg, and a dual res. There's also the option of 5% attack speed suffix, which gave more dmg compared to the 20% dmg when simulating on PoB, but my res were low.
I'm roughly half way to farming a headhunter, I have 50 raw ex, plus probably 15 ex worth of stuff I still have to sell. Trying to decide if I should bother, but farming emblems with a proper HH temporal chains build does look kinda fun. It's basically that, or I quit the league because i don't have anything else I want to try, and I hate leveling up characters even twinked
At some point i'll trty out a TS deadeye, only my second league and don't want to kill myself
