But you could open the chests while killing.

Also true. I think I usually didn't lol, might depend on skill you were using. With Cyclone and the other stuff I played I feel like I tended to open the monolith, tag as much as possible, timer run out, kill everything first, vacuum up after. Player preference.
More than anything it's all about how rewarding it is imo. Even if the league mechanic really slows gameplay down and looting is a lot of backtracking and such, it will still probably feel ok if the loot is sick $$$$. I think that's where some of the other recent (pre-Legion) leagues probably missed the mark.

The summoner gems look really interesting, and the Necromancer Ascendancy gets changed too. There have to be some more significant changes to make me not roll a summoner in Blight.
I loved playing TDs in Wc3, so I'm excited to see how the Blight league mechanic will be in PoE. From the looks of it you probably don't wanna use a melee build that requires targeting, since that seems pretty stressful with how the league looks to me atm. Also doesn't instantly look perfect for ED & vaal skills which is good.

You are not wrong but new crafting methods allow people that did a lot of crafting to do more of it and still enjoy it. But thats not the main point. If crafting wouldnt change I would still enjoy it. But having no endgame _at all_ is frustrating. Personally I have not killed uber elder or atziri in HC but the day I do, there is literally nothing that motivates me really.
I play to do content etc, sometimes grind is nice but unfortunately I am more into bossing and/or crafting compared to "I enjoy making and trying builds"

I thought I remembered that there was a new source of flat minion life added in 3.7 (like Mon'tregul's Grasp), but now I can't find what it was. Am I imagining things?

% rather than flat, but are you thinking of the Aukuna's Will gloves?

Raised Zombies have (80-100)% increased maximum Life

Maybe that's what I was thinking of, thanks.
Trying to come up with an idea for a popcorn Zombie build with some of the new stuff. So far, thinking:
- Zombies with new Infernal Legion gem
- Mon'tregul's
- Maligaro's Lens so they heal me when they die
- Minion Instability
- Fortress Covenant so they die faster
- Aukuna's Will
- A buttload of minion life
Haven't decided if I should try to get fancy and make it a Heartbound Loop nonsense build, or if I should just self-cast the Zombies.

i feel like everybody is theorycrafting some kind of popcorn minion build
i kinda wanna but it's a bit too obvious. I'm sure somebody is going to find a good one and post it to reddit though.

I think Maligaro's Lens is kinda meh. I don't think you wanna be that close to them when they die and its like a few pixels radius if I remember correctly.
Since I seem to be a little alone on the matter "no end game" - What is your motivation to play in case you already did the content or have done it in league? Are you crafting? Are you just doing multiple builds and bring them to red maps? Maybe I can find some suggestions here :D

Imo at the very least half the fun is making my own build on PoB and seeing how far it progresses, ideally I'm aiming for a char that is fun to play (aka pretty lazy in my case), that is able to play red maps and the league content well. And of course I try to choose different skills, at the very least something I haven't used in like 2-3 leagues. That said I've created a ton of builds already so in most cases the builds I end up doing don't differentiate a lot with other comparable builds on poe.ninja.
That said, it's still too early for me to start the PoB game, not much info out yet. Plus it doesn't help that a lot changes will be done to passive tree apparently, with 17? new notables being added in addition to the Ascendancy changes.

I think the new mines look fun. Thinking about knockback just to see monsters fly around.
|
With the new gems that alter minion behavior, are there any strong spectre choices that were previously not viable due to their poor AI?
|
Frenzy feed should make them aggressive and attack a lot more.
|
I meant like specific monsters to raise as spectres that were previously too dumb to be viable
|
depending on how Infernal Legion scales, I think itll be really cool. pops when minions die is just a bonus.
Elementalist for golem immunity, have one bodyguard golem and one agressive, and some other minions for consistency (SRS?)

SSF! Restriction is the mother of invention - gives you a reason to farm certain otherwise uninteresting locations for certain drops/divination cards, finesse certain crafts and workarounds that people in trade league can brute force with currency. I've done a decent amount of updating/correcting the wiki by gathering drop locations/frequencies for things.

Well, I'd imagine a decent amount of melee spectres - IIRC the current Slave Driver build used to use Vaal Fallen? - would be given a ton more time-on-target. I can't remember the behaviour of Kitava's Heralds as spectres but they could be fun is Feeding Frenzy causes them to goomba stomp around aggressively. Curious to know if there's any difference with golems between Feeding Frenzy behaviour and Primordial Might behaviour.

So the golems wouldn't take any damage, seems smart. The important thing is if it would scale with increase to golem damage on the jewels or only on fire and minion damage

I think the only reason for SSF for me would be to test my own builds and to enjoy slower progression. On the other hand I think SSF is kinda "FeelsBadMan" - when I drop an exalt I am sure I will not slam an item because thats usually just not what I do. I mean of course in trade league that is - in SSF there is no other use besides having a certain craft for it. To me I beliebe slower progression can feel nice but if it starts to feel like its restricting you simply for the sake of restricting you, thats not fun anymore.
I am not a big fan of workarounds I guess :D

Are you just doing multiple builds and bring them to red maps? Maybe I can find some suggestions here :D personally, I have a few goals each league. nothing unique but yeah:
1. go fast Day 1 - with good play, can usually be top 500, be an early mapper. Sometimes can be one of the first farming atziri or breachlords but I don't do that as much because of the risk of death. It's fun to make lots of money when economy is new 2. reach T15/16 maps and making a build that can farm them fast - this can take a while depending on budget, esp if doing 8mod sextant maps 3. kill uber elder - usually takes me 2-3 weeks cus I slow down
to me, that's plenty of endgame. After I kill uelder my motivation goes way down and I'm usually done though. I did the level 100 grind once and I'm not about that life anymore. I think it's ok to enjoy the game a lot for 1-4 weeks then be done with it, don't need to infinitely grind.
Doing the same thing in a new league feels mostly fresh to me. Considering the league mechanics lately dominate money making and mapping strategies lately, the gameplay changes a decent amt. I also do a new, never played before build for almost every char; pushing uelder with Hoag feels way diff than with cyclone
other things you can pursue are: deep delves (need to be early, can be crazy bank), early HH, meme build

WCS Montreal starts exactly with league - I start with groupstage 2 so thats exactly 10PM my time (league start). So I basically lose first 3 days. Being rich in hardcore can be done within a few weeks still but its still missing out. Uber elder is what I miss. Tried him this season died > already had 36 challenges though so no motivation to replicate my HoA build with HoA enchant even - unaffordable too in HC. Or not even unaffordable but not available either sometimes.
I think I will try to go to deep delve and enjoy some builds :S
