Got my 7L maim chest, but still using a 2H sword setup on tree, will need to redo a lot of it before switching to dual 1H.
Is precision aura required for this build?

The crit boost is nice at any rank though. Free ~5% dps for me, for almost no mana reservation at level 1. It's worth it for the crit alone even if you craft hits can't be evaded. I'd be surprised if no crit craft hurt resale value TOO much, considering Slayer is so insanely popular right now. The best meta stuff with the Elder bases and such rarely craft crit as far as I can tell, but again that's probably just due to the popularity of Slayer right now. Without Overwhelm I'd have to imagine base crit outweights chance to deal double damage.

Low lvl precision makes sense. I run blood magic on leap slam, and -15 mana cost on the chest for cyclone, so reserving most of my mana pool is ok. It should be possible to get a couple levels in precision without having to run enlighten.

Today's project is going to be actually picking a map to farm and buying in bulk. I'm fairly happy with where my gear's at for now, and I got the shaper and uber elder stuff out of my system for the most part. I cba to redo my atlas to actually sustain so I'm just gonna buy a shit ton of some mid-tier map I like and brainlessly mash alch and go for a while. I should probably do a few merc labs for useful enchants at some point too zzzz

I highly recommend the gloves though, they doubled my mapping speed and made stuff like shaper slam/elder balls much easier to dodge. This alone beats any marginal improvement in dps by a mile and isn't something PoB can account for.

There are way more valuable affixes that can go on gloves like weapon range craft, attack speed, etc. Kaom's other downside is the lack of resists, which is why I chose not to go down that route this league.

I could also fix it by getting a rare helm instead of Devotos, which I knew I'd probably need to do at some point anyway. Insanity gloves with range + life/res helm is probably overall better than Devoto's + life/res gloves. Could do the same with Kaom's too, sacrifice a bit of life for smoother resists + a bunch more slots to level gems in I guess $$$$ Alternatively I could have a few pieces more geared toward mapping when I don't need as much damage and then swap in mark of the Elder + curse ring + etc. for damage on T16/bosses. I'll see how I feel when I start mapping again instead of pushing Guardians.

With the insanity craft, I still notice a big difference in speed. Out of all PoE chars I played, the clearspeed with these gloves can only be matched by my legacy QotF build. Devoto's move speed bonus is less important once you start using leap slam as the main movement source. The reason people use this is if you don't have enough dps to instantly clear trash mobs with a single spin of cyclone, and needed to move while in cyclone, then the added bonus movement speed is very useful. I've reached a point where the play style became leap into a group of mobs, spin once for clear, then followed by leap again, it's insanely fast. I think starkonja's is worth considering until you get gg rare helm, no resists but lots of life. You do get a drop in dps from the loss of attack speed though if you decide to move to a rare helm. There are also a bunch of ppl running around with abyssus for mapping, seems to be a cheap source of DPS for low level content.

You can also make a lot of exalts crafting foils, I haven't figured out the most efficient way to do it yet, but the guy I bought mine from said he sells like 10 of them a day with 10+ex each. I guess this is what happens when a single build dominates the whole patch.

When I PoB it out myself, replacing stuff for impale support + 1 impale cluster is around 30-40% more damage. The calculation I'm using is: (Impale Chance%) * (Amt of Impale Stacks * 10) * (Impale Effect) (1.00)*(5*10)*(1.83) = 91.5 --> 91% more damage Because I had to take out melee phys damage support for Impale support and took out some crit nodes for impale, it's more like 40% more damage, but it's still a huge increase. The DW PoB I'm using is at 13.4 attacks per second so getting impale stacks isn't a problem. Are these calcs right? Are the 50-60% of people not using impale just crazy?

Why wouldn't impale be good for crit builds?

As you mentioned - it's a ton of extra damage for not a lot of investment vs mobs that need multiple hits

That said, I'm pretty sure the math works out for Impale being really good even with crit.
