Races were more fun for me, even though i am a total scrub and can't play that much, I could get a few points and maybe grab the first or second reward. Maybe they can tweak the private league mechanic enough and enable more modes, leaderboards, special rewards etc. and enable the community in this regard. | ||

The gist of it is to use storm brand - added lightning - controlled destr. - onslaught conductivity (selfcast on bosses) brand recall - arcane surge herald of thunder flame dash - faster casting lightning spire trap - controlled destr- added lightning damage - elemental focus shield charge - faster attacks And instead of using town portals he logs out to character select screen and logs back in everytime he finished a quest and needs to change areas or get quest rewards. You gotta plan ahead for what currency you'll need to buy your gems as well, and depending on what's available, what craft you're likely to use. This is less a problem in leagues because you'll be doing all your labs and are likely to open a currency chest at some point, or trade in guild chat . I did about a dozen practice run as well, as Storm Brand is pretty fun. Getting under 2h for A5 Kitava with skill points + lab almost felt like good old races. I somehow doubt GGG is gonna nerf Brands enough that it's not still a top 3 leveling skill. | ||

I'm thinking it's very likely both of them will stay great, maybe they won't even get nerfed and just other spells buffed. | ||

Edit: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2323815 That's a good/thorough guide; there's also a couple of people's rough notes from some thi23he/Ziz runs: * Inquisitor * Elementalist #1 * Elementalist #2 Storm Brand's pretty powerful - I tried leveling an Templar to ~L36 taking a life-based RF tree with only ~7 points detoured into brand-related nodes before respeccing/transitioning after Deshret/normal lab, and it was pretty smooth (just wish I'd realised you're supposed to mule a Shadow to town for Explosive Trap for pre-Lightning Spire Single trap single-target for Templar, though). A big part of leveling quickly is knowing ahead of time what link setups you'll need. Casters can use the same weapon for the entire game, and you can modify your filter for the specific 4L colors you'll need. You gotta plan ahead for what currency you'll need to buy your gems as well, and depending on what's available, what craft you're likely to use. Yeah, setting up your filter to highlight the colour/links you'll need is great for speeding up levelling, and I find moving Chance Orb highlighting up to Alchemy tier helps out at league-start for purchasing both gems and maps from Zana. Edit: Oh shit, atlas is out! Fungal Hollows at T1 is (reasonably) great; back when it was T3 had thought about farming up a set of Emperor of Purity instead of Humility in Blood Aqueducts/Channel. Moon Temple at T10, Tower down to T13, Waste Pool at T15 ... hmmmn. | ||

I need to be better at scanning the vendors for MS boots and links when I'm back to town; might put a post-it not on my monitor for league-start. | ||

As for ms boots, many people have a macro that basically writes "mov" into the search field, and this is legal because it's all client-side. Still only saves you a couple seconds each time, but makes those unlucky runs feel a bit better. | ||

What the fuck is that note, like... really? If ES doesn't get nerfed in any other way and life casters don't get spell life leech, then I'm 100% sure I'll be either doing a LL Occultist or Hybrid Life/ES Occultist. As will many others. | ||
