I think all the T9s are quite bad. If you must shape one, Coves is the best imo. Good density, so so layout. However this hurts sextanting Shore and Tropical Island. if you aren't mass sextanting, I would definitely pick this. I think the Crypt layout is too poopy. I also find the boss questionable; you can't curse him (well, you shouldn't), he Has a powerful slam, and the curse auras on the ground are pretty annoying Personally, I have no T9's shaped. My only T14 is Volcano. It has a nice layout, decent density, and most importantly drops steel rings and kaom's heart cards. I often skip the boss though. I considered adding Springs (decent layout, Easy boss) and Maze (opal rings), but decided not to

It can be kinda expensive and is squishy, but the clear is crazy. Cutedog's guide here - his gear is super insane, you don't need that much + Show Spoiler + I spent last evening tinkering around in PoB trying to bastardize a version of this build that's more affordable and slightly more survivable, and planned out the leveling. Having fun so far. VPS is fun to tap once in a while, even at lower levels. Pretty excited to actually map with it.

I thought they dropped on all once you got to high enough level maps?!

Started leveling up cold damage passives, and i kinda like it. Any suggestions for skills and passives and general tips would be greatly appreciated :D Sorry to say but you missed the version of the game where elemental witch is good. With witch people go Occultist and focus on chaos damage or Necromancer and focus on summons.

Then if you do go on the forum and copy a build that has stats and posts to back it up for your second build. And it might make the whole game more fun it he at least try to play something decent. I can already imagine the frustration about playing an elemental witch. He will neither have HP or DPS and it will not be fun at all.

Sure, something like Freeze Pulse Elementalist is objectively bad, but I'd be surprised if it can't be viable and fun to play for someone new to PoE all the way into at least low red maps. If you want a 'good build' to start out with then there are certainly better options but I wouldn't say that's the only way to start playing the game even though it's the one I'd usually recommend. If you're the type of guy who enjoys going into things blind and you're sure that you'll give it another run with something 'strong' eventually, then by all means try and figure some things out on your own. If you're sure that you'd never touch the game again if you run into a brick wall then pick something that is considered tried and tested.

Just play whatever and do the Acts. Enjoy it. The passive tree can be fun if you just walk around to stuff that sounds good without min/maxing lol. When you do find those big nodes once in a while, you can really feel it. Just don't slouch on defense! It's tempting to just hit all the nodes that sync with the type of damage you're doing, but life% and other defenses/regen go a long long way.

![]() I bought a sprinkler and started a new build. This guide was the only one I found, there are some debate about whether Iron Grip is good or not, is there another one I should look at for more info on the tree?

And zerker seems a bit broken, sure, but that doesnt directly mean another class is bad? Dammit always phrasing like questions lol. Looked at a couple of rain of fire builds the other day. Both seemed quite beginner friendly, one with mom+minions, one with vaal pact and blasphemy warlords, no required uniques.

It has most increased elemental damage bonuses of any class and it has best elemental penetration (which also worked well with double dipping)that let you skip on Pen gem. And Elementalist already had some nerfs from previous patches. You could now go crit Elementalist but that character is still better as Inquisitor, Assassin or Scion. Double dipping Elementalist let you skip crit and still have good DPS, now you can only do something like that with a Berserker while in truth we are back to crit builds meta.
