True. There was this tension in breaches trying to get the boss to spawn and not rip in the process. And bailing out could be pretty risky.

Harbingers are very low stakes compared to that.

Harbingers are scarier to me than most map bosses in high red maps. They're scarier than Breaches for sure.

Also, the Harbinger itself is worth on average ~0.5c and the monsters it spawns can drop items as normal - including maps. There's no way skipping them is correct unless you kill the packs so slowly you can't force the Harbinger to chain cast the summon.

Their main problem isn't that stuff. It's that they're not fun.

There have been far worse leagues if you ask me. Torment was super dull if you weren't abusing with reverse knockback Cycloner. Talisman I never had joy with, it was basically just new meh Amulets and the Rigwald fight who was really hard to get to. Rampage was just awful, you get forced to go fast and get some movement speed and effects, and that was it. Warbands league was a cool idea, but the implementation was sooo bad and they never fixed it. I was also not at all a fan of the Tempest league, but at least it had corrupting Tempests sometimes. Still, I hate the majority of them.

If you ask me Harbinger is a mid quality league in comparison to what we have seen before. Which is fine to me considering what 3.0 added, GGG had its hands full with other stuff which they didn't manage to fully complete either. Next league will hopefully be more exciting again for Endgame, and as far as I remember they said it's when they wanna mix up the Atlas so I'm sure it will be better.

I really liked tempest league but the best was obviously the league I think we had before Essence (cant remember the name) where we had all the mods combined. Beyond, tempest, onslaught, Nemesis etc.
That was the most rippy league we´ve ever had.

I thought people didn't start doing that until later with Torment as a map mod.

Anyway with ghosts having been an evergreen mechanic for so long and also the drops getting nerfed pretty hard, Torment seems duller than it was. But it was and is a strong mechanic (hence being evergreened). Shepherding a ghost into a boss is always the highlight of my play session when it happens. I love mechanics that can interact with each other in unpredictable ways.

the damage reduction on newly summoned harbinger mobs is kinda annoying - white mobs are okay, but the rares can be surprisingly tanky sometimes. i end up having to run in circles for a second or two sometimes to wait for it to decay.

also, is it me or are breaches like stupid rare? im at level 80 and have seen two total.

I did about 8 breaches by lvl 87... I always run into them in very narrow corridors and can't move around fast enough to kill everything in the circle when it spawns across multiple rooms.

I've been saving up for a Kaom's, only to see the price go up by 10c every other day...

Also I constantly run into breaches. Easily at least 10. I think I've died instantly to every single one but 2,and one of those someone else was tanking for me.

I found the breaches quite easy with my GC build. The trick is to lay down mines first and blink away after activation, after that everything dies before they even get close to me. The challenge is how to kill all the mobs quickly when you can't run in a perfect circle due to all the obstacles. Only got lucky once where it spawned in the middle of an open field.

As a complete noob to this game, I found the quickest way to make chaos is by doing the un-identified chaos recipe that yields 2 per set. With this method I can reliably farm up about 30c a night speed running yellow maps.

I've been wasting chance orbs on glorious plate before looking up the odds, it is a huge waste of time/resources lol

Why doesn't this game have an auction house? This whole whispering system creates a lot of price friction, and pricing items really low without the intention of selling them is kinda BS.

not saying i want reversion to that, but i do miss them for some things

I'm of the opinion that GGG have a good grasp on what would happen to their game if they implemented a frictionless auction house and that the ease of gear acquisition from an auction house would have undesirable consequences.

Right now the AH system already exists, but sits outside the game as poe.trade. All I'm suggesting is to move this feature in game so the seller doesn't need to be in game for the trade to happen. It also prevents players from manipulating prices by making sales automatic.

Again, you've busily been explaining why what we have is functionally NOT an auction house, even if conceptually it has a lot of the aspects.

Turning it into a fully functional auction house requires acceptance of what that does to the market and game in general, which GGG will not do. They already believe that the gap between trading and non-trading players is too large in terms of character power level and are more likely to attempt ways to weaken trading than easing it.

Both of my builds had no problems with breaches up go t10 (highest maps that I got to run so far).
Now I am leveling my 3rd one, sunder character with VP.. I doubt that one will have any problems as well :D

btw I agree with holydaking. it's not an amazing league but fighting the harbs is mildly fun. the endgame map is fun too (but they nerfed the drops... why..?) I also really, really like annulment orbs, harb orbs, and horizon orbs. You have to include them as part of the expansion and I think they add a lot

Gave the game a shot after trying (and failing) multiple times before. Just didn't really understand the entire vendoring system (the recipes etc), how to get which currency and what that currency is worth in the first place, all those things.

This game is really, really not beginner friendly for someone who usually plays racing games "competitively", and the rest just more or less casually. But, i managed decent so far (i think), lvl 37 or something, just finished my first Labyrinth (only took me like 2.5 hours oO), enjoying the game.

Also, gonna buy essence/quad/currency tab. Especially currency in a normal bank tab drives me mad, so much shit everywhere (since i collect everything, no idea what's coming in handy at what point, if ever). Also made my first "big" mistake already, chose the wrong bandit and now have to somehow farm 20 orbs of rugrats, that'll be fun. ^^

Just now trying to set up a decent loot filter (Greengroove/leveling, any good?). Pretty chill actually, the game. Liking it now, trying to slowly edge into it.
