That's a good point. Stun immunity or avoidance / high recovery rate is a must with CI.

I think going Wither over Flameblast for your channeled skill in CwC Firestorm is a waste; the DPS from casting a Flameblast at the same time as your Firestorm almost certainly outweighs the DPS you gain from Wither on every trash pack (definitely every rare) and I think it's probably even more damage on bosses. Mana sustain is the only wrinkle.

It also negates a lot of the perils of self-cast Flameblast, since you have Firestorms stunning trash while you channel and reflect gets neutered a fair bit.

You might die to ele reflect on maps even with 70% chaos conversion though, it gets real spooky for me even with level 18 gems, Mind over Matter, and Elementalist reflect reduction. Only 4.7K life though (still using a Tabula).

Mana sustain is really big for Infernal Mantle though. Investment to have enough mana regen to never be on low mana could be a bit much.

You also forget that Wither slows down enemies a lot. And this guy like me uses Temporal Chains for a double slow.

The slow would probably be even better with Xoph's and CwDT Vortex. I'm just not in love with hoop jumping for the 75% chaos conversion and hoping to scale the poison damage. If it were 100% chaos conversion, the build would be a lot more palatable to me though I would still be unsure about giving up the massive raw damage Flameblast as your channeling skill provides since it benefits from literally everything Firestorm does (even the poison if you chaos convert).

One other minor wrinkle is that it's pretty much impossible to push Wither to a "cast twice for the minimal amount of time and proc level 20 Cast while Channeled" level of cast speed since its base cast time is 0.28 and you need to get to 0.18, but cast speed feels gross to get lots of points in for CwC. Flameblast starts with 0.20, making it more manageable on gear alone (in fact, you may need to avoid cast speed on your gear to stay above 0.18).

Yes there is hoop jumping involved but you kill stuff faster than with fire damage and ignite immune are not a problem.
Map clearing is a problem it seems, I will try to improve on the build with my character :D (thinking about using 2x Vortex Totems instead of Arctic Breath now for map clearing while switching main skill into this Wither+Firestorm for boss fights)

Edit: Alternative is to have two Firestorm totems in addition for map clearing. I might even overkill the map with all the firestorm :D
Vortex has advantage of getting my helmet cold bonus to give bonus damage and since first hit is fire because of pyre and chaos as a result, degen is cold as pyre does not convert that and slows down everyone in range for poison to finish them off (and with those gloves Vortex totem should also Temporal chains everyone it hits).

I really prefer the HC economy and try to play at least 1 HC char every league

But if there's one thing i can't stand about PoE it's levelling

I mean there's also the "die to new content i've never seen before. don't have to level from scratch" etc. I dont' have a ton of experience with ultra-lategame stuff liek shaper, uber, etc so it's nice being able to experiment with stuff like that without it meaning a dead character if I screw up.

most of the builds i'd "test" require vastly different thigns from what I have available on standard although it's true that I have the raw currency to fund more or less any build. The issue is if I did it, I might not still have the currency xd.

+1 i cant believe i agree with snoman to something, i feel exactly the same.I mean they are adding new content all the time and when the game ended to dominus maybe its ok 3 difficulties,but the cycle from leveling to endgame has become too big plus the new content is even more unforgiving everytime.A lot of streamers left HC like yoji and krip played SC i think last league.GGG should give motives to players to go to HC.

What do you guys think should be the 6th link for an Oro's Flickerstrike Elementalist? Currently using Flickerstrike-Multistrike-Melee Splash-Weapon Elemental Damage-Fire Penetration.

Stuff I've considered:
  • Crit stuff: I'm using Elemental Overload (and have no problem keeping it up), so this is a no-go unless I do a rebuild.
  • Added Fire Damage: Unlike Cold/Lightning, this works by converting Physical, so it doesn't work with Oro's
  • Added Cold/Lightning: I have a lot of %Increased Elemental Damage, I have the Elementalist golem nodes and am running an Ice Golem for accuracy/crit anyway, I'm using Weapon Elemental Damage, I might run Elemental Weakness as my third curse once I'm rich enough...but these would miss out on my %Increased Fire Damage (which I also have plenty of), Fire Penetration, and Flammability.
  • Faster Attacks: I feel like I already attack fast enough with full Frenzy charges, but this would help me ramp up faster. Could be good.
  • Additional Accuracy: Frees me from having to get accuracy on gear. Not sure if there are better options.
  • Culling Strike: I believe the %increased damage double-dips on ignites, which is nice, but the cull is wasted since Oro's already culls. Not sure.


Any thoughts or advice?

I mean faster attacks is the simplest damage increase. "Fast enough" is like "Enough DPS". It doesn't really exist.

Otherwise theres fortify or lifeleech for survivability

Yeah good point. I was thinking that faster attacks becomes less efficient as you get more attack speed (since it's an increased mod), but looking into it most of my attack speed bonuses are more multipliers (Frenzy charges and Multistrike), so that makes increased attack speed look better.

I've already got 4% leech and perma-fortify from other sources (and Fortify's damage bonus is sadly phys-only ), so I think Faster Attacks is probably the way to go.

concentrated effect might be an option, otherwise i'd agree with the added lightning/ cold. maybe life leech if you feel like it could help. not sure how well melee dmg on full life would work.
