BLinD-RawR is also playing PoE? News to me. ^^
But yeah 3 new classes revealed. People say Pathfinder is OP because some of the high end flasks are fairly good. I've never had Taste of Hate or Vinktar though, so I'm not really interested in it. The +2 totems on Hierophant looks interesting for me, although I've played plenty totem chars recently so that's most definitely not what I'm gonna do then.
Also FYI from Reddit there's a great pic collection for all revealed Ascendancy classes:

If you think about the damage numbers though, disregarding personal damage in favour of only totem damage of course, with ancestral bond you had 2 100%dmg totems, or 200% dmg. With the new passive, you have 3 70% dmg totems (210) or 4 60% dmg totems (240%) which is just not that far ahead of the old 200%. Plus you have to summon all 4 to get your DPS going, keep them alive, etc. Your initial damage on encountering a pack is going to be a lot lower unless your old totems have already expired.
Still strong, but I question how revolutionary it would be for totems. It also makes searing bond unuseable again I think (unless it somehow doesn't count for this).
Then again the ability to just summon all your totems and when one dies/expires it doesn't really ruin your dps (240->210) is very attractive in that sense. You get to buffer your dps with a LOT of totems to tank for you.

alternatively, don't take ancestral bond then you can still do damage as well

Possible stupid question - are the ascended classes locked to the base classes? I mean, can any class be a Berserker, for example?
If not, then I worry that it would very much remove a lot of the freedom the current skill tree system provides.
|
Pending what the scion class is (since hints point towards it being lacking a strict identity which could indicate some multi-class enabling), Yes ascendancy classes are locked to your character base. So ONLY a ranger can get those op flask rewards etc.
I believe the whole point was to make your base class relevant again, since these days 80% of builds are like MAXIMUM 5 points different between 2-4 classes. The class forums are hilarious because most builds are more optimal as a different class these days (fakener is scion not shadow etc).
GGG want classes to be distinct and different again, and that's part of what ascendancy will achieve (unless scion class is "lol pick whatever u want" then everybody will be scion again).
|
Well, honestly there'll still be plenty choices. Though for crit builds for example the base crit shadow thing looks way OP. And right now it's also 2-3 classes per build usually, with one being slightly superior and the other being 1-2 point worse but still work fine. I've been doing so many Scion builds recently for example... might just be me though.
I expect lots of monster HP changes though, the game is currently too fast imo and it would just get worse. Should balance it back to the point equally to when 20k dps was considered high or something.

Scion is just gonna be jewel slots, and the keystone/notable ones is going to be doubles effect of jewels or removes unique jewel limitation or +100 to each stat
That would be hilarious

That suggestion for scion doesn't explain why they won't create art for the class

Headhunter solo is ridiculous fun by the way. I never knew and only own a Headhunter on standard which I never used (LOL) because I found it at the end of that temp league QQ.
|
Were you aware that its a 120+++ ex item on standard?
lmao
anyway wish I could have done that race too xd oh well

anyway wish I could have done that race too xd oh well Yes I am. I'm probably dirt rich on Standard anyway... like many players that play temp leagues. ^^
The next one is at 3 a.m. on Sunday for me... Idk if my passion is enough for that.
|
Yeah I probably could get some currency on standard but I don't have enough motivation to even offload the items for currency on standard.
|
Oh hi blindrawr!
The hierophant subclass is perfect for my heartbound loop char i'll make in ascendancy. Just perfect. Free 20% penetration, free 20% aoe, free life leech.
+ probably the 12% mana => ES will be nice since i'll be CI

Wonder if the inquisitor with those +ele damage can make RF incinerate playable again, any thoughts?

I have 35ex pure on tsc, and can convert some items to probably get to 60. Anyone have a really quirky build that's still somewhat viable?
Coc discharge is less fun once you hit 93 and have basically everything you could ever want (minus the +1 curse ammy and + 1 gems 6l).
|
soooo new uniques...
Gloves are pretty meh, jewel is AMAZING (really strong with a relevant yet build-enabling drawback, not limit 1 thankfully), claw is interesting as block will be trivial to cap with that thing but ur gonna be kinda useless, and the ring means blood magic builds can FINALLY run auras (Blood magic RF here I come).
|
Well the gloves are a 5link with some life on it, whether that is a viable option will depend on their rarity. Together with the Hierophant templar class you can even get a 6link from the gloves.
As for the claw/shield. It might be interesting for some dual wield builds that intend to use it as a stat stick. I think Ice Crash qualifies for instance. I don't know how good that will turn out to be though.
