Free 2 play fps most popular fps in Korea and quickly becoming the most popular fps in all of Asia. Too bad Europe and America won't jump on board. I love this game compared to CSS. Around 12-15,000 players online at peak times.

I played this for about 2 months before switching to CS because SA is just a little bit to easy but then again the people who play are mostly nice (the ones that speak English which were kinda rare but either way most are cool). Just learn to use the TRG and save your money for it, that and the AK are my personal fav's on SA since they just get the job done so effortlessly. Clan support for SA is sick too its so easy, I got in a clan one night and by the next morning had already helped them win 2 clan wars lol. Not saying I was all that great if I played versus truly skilled people who had been serious into it for years but still its very fast paced like SC so if you play SC you will fit well. CS is far more difficult though so much more worthy of free time, gotta love a good challenge. :D Still though great pick its a fantastic game (and free!!).

It's such a challenging game and you can improve so much at SC2 just by playing it and realising the importance of macro/timings. The campaign is also BADASS. I played BW when I had to use a crappy laptop, it was good fun (and challenging!) to run through the campaign again.
Diablo 2 is amazing too, as is WC3. In fact you could even probably play WoW on low settings (remember how old a game it is, it really doesn't need a great computer) if you want to risk addiction :D
I used to play this sim-city esque game called Pharaoh too, that was cool and quite different from the above. I believe there was a roman version as well called... Caesar? Not sure.
Have fun playing retro games everyone ^^
Ohh, man you just reminded me how much fun I had with Pharaoh and Caesar 2/3 totally reinstalling those games, they were epic. I remember playing Caesar and pissing off Rome by refusing to pay tribute for a few years then having to deal with like 6 armies of legionaries raping all my prefects, and burning down my city because I never built any real military, lol i was a dumb kid.
Chess titans and minesweepers ( for offline play) Minecraft and Broodwar are also ridiculously good games as well. Can you play WC3 online/dota with those specs?
Try Deus Ex. First-person shooter, single-player, with an interesting sci-fi storyline and RPG elements. Has a lot of options for how to complete missions, like a much more advanced and prettier version of Goldeneye (for N64). Your PC is more than powerful enough to handle it. Also it costs ~$10 for a digital download, through Steam or D2Drive or whatever.
http://www.freeciv.net/ online civilisation, runs 100% in browser, everyone should know what civ is about
http://www.freecol.org/ colonization clone, try to colonize america as the dutch (french, englishman or spaniard) I think best described as: Like civ, but quite different
OpenTTD is an open source simulation game based upon the popular Microprose game "Transport Tycoon Deluxe", written by Chris Sawyer. It attempts to mimic the original game as closely as possible while extending it with new features.
Before the 1.0 release it needed the data files of the original TTD, but now it works completely on its own. If you know and loved the original TTD then this may consume your life :D
Fantastic contraption, its a web browser physics based puzzle game where you build stuff to get objects to designated area. http://fantasticcontraption.com/
Also Zuma deluxe is quite addicting
And speaking of popcap games this is awesome too Zombies vs plants
If you enjoy sidescrollershooters Jets n guns gold
(has pretty kickass soundtrack too)
If you like to have more mindless shooting action with upgrades and levels and shops and all that Alien shooter 2
you might have to turn the lighting effects off though
Good platformer that one can also play in 2player mode Jazz jackrabbit 2
Not sure if you can run World of goo but if you can definetly a fun game
Of course then there are the classics like: DooM 1/2 Half life 1/2 sim cities theme hospital quake and q2 Fallout 1 and 2 (tactics was fun but not as great IMO) Planescape torment arcanum Vampire the masquerade bloodlines Civilization series HoMM (heroes of might and magic) Adom (ancient domains of mystery) Vampire the masquerade: bloodlines Age of empires 2 Age of mythology Command & Conquer series Blood Tropico
I highly recommend Killing Floor. It's a team based game where you survive waves of zombies/genetic experiments. You are a team of 6. You pick from siz classes ranging from Sharpshooter, Firebug and Berserker. After each wave you have one minute to restock at the trader and make a new defense somewhere on the map. It's very fun and the community is generally very helpful. It helps that the team behind it is small and very dedicated and the game is $20 with frequent sales on steam.

as far as bnet goes yes. However if you're anywhere near the top for ELL(MMR) you will run into a dumb amount of hackers, also search times can be horrendous. (20-0 can leave your cpu on overnight come back and still be searching for a game).
However if you're anywhere near a casual level of play I would recommend it, should have a good experience.

I bought it yesterday, and still pretty confused by the mechanics and whatnot.. I haven't been able to beat an easy computer yet! :3 It's fun though. I really enjoy the style of everything and the graphics look great to me.
Plenty of mentions for Heroes of Might and Magic (mainly for #3), I'd second that. My personal favorite is 4, which many people disliked, but is way underrated imo. It was lacking in creatures and the art was worse, but the heroes themselves are way more fun to play with since you can actually fight with them (I just love massing them). Also, the music is still amazing, as usual.
I was playing HoMM 4 just two weeks ago, and it's still as great / addictive as ever. Do check the series out when you can! You can easily Youtube some of the music, honestly, that alone might convince you...
