Well I finally got it installed, but several tool tips, mission descriptions and such are missing, and if I click on the ledger or the 'there are unbuilt structures in this province' tab, the game instantly crashes.

If you have 5.1 you need to apply the UI fix, it is available in the launcher.

What I've liked a lot in CK2 are the reset mods, that make every county in the map an OPM, and then you have to go on from there. Is there any similar such mod for EU3? I can't seem to find one, even though the idea is quite simple, really.

What UI fix? There's nothing about a UI fix in the launcer, and I've tried most everything reasonable with the launcher already, but I still have huge problems with crashes. Either at launch, game start, when I try to build something etc.

From a purely technical standpoint it probably is possible, but it would require creating a new TAG for each new country, which would slow the game down so much, probably making it unplayable.

There was "Shattered Europe" scenario for MiscMods AFAIK, that made every core at start of the game have an independent nation.
As for the launcher I was not precise, sorry.
It is the red box. Green box are the map fonts (you can find them in paradox forum in MEIOU subforum) and the other two are self explanatory.
I always clicked buttons 1,2,3 and 4 if I was changing anything, just to be safe... It takes some time to generate cache then, but SSD makes it 10 seconds

Oh yeah miscmods kind of does that. It's more like 3 cores / province or so iirc, but it's totally awesome. I'll have to play that again. Thanks.
Yeah I clicked all the red stuff on the launcher. I got confused when there was talk about applying UI fixes, but yeah, I just followed the installation instructions blindly basically, and it got all fucked up. Got a brand new computer for about 1500e that my friends assembled for me, so I doubt it crashes 'cause of bad specs.

I have been trying to play as Transylvania because of Dracula, but it is very hard to get beyond a 4 state province after absorbing Wallachia through puppeteering into a demanded annexation just outright annexing them. I once managed to make puppets out of both Naples, Sicilily and gained control over Greece, but lost the game because I became mired in debt to the point of no return.
Anybody have any tips? I play on the normal settings with divine wind and I'm not using any addons.

Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia (1431–1476), was a member of the House of Drăculești, a branch of the House of Basarab, also known by his patronymic name: Dracula. He was posthumously dubbed Vlad the Impaler (Romanian: Vlad Țepeș pronounced [ˈvlad ˈt͡sepeʃ]), and was a three-time Voivode of Wallachia

OH SNAP. XD
Well the Transylvanian royal lineage has a cooler surname, and Wallachia kinda starts out in an even shittier position as the closest 2 state minors are vassals of poland and Hungary + its christian and landlocked. Still thanks for the heads up. At least now I can play Crusader kings 2 as Wallachia without feeling bummed out that I cant make some kind of Transylvanian kingdom. As in Transylvanian in name.

how is this compared to the civilization games?

Way deeper, more complex and historical. It's much more a simulation-style game. It's an RTS, not a 4-x.

Cooler surname my ass vlad is a DRAGON.

I have not yet played as Transsylvania or Wallachia, but the standard gameplay tips still apply. Don't get too much infamy, don't ever get debt, rather mint then taking debt, but try to avoid too much inflation, too. If you ever go above 10% inflation you are almost certainly minting too much. Something up to 10% can be worth it as smaller nations for the first 100 years or so, but afterwards your inflation should pretty much always be at 0.
Don't ever fight the Golden Horde. If they appear, try to surrender and pay tribute rather then getting consumed by them. Only fight easy wars, be incredibly opportunistic. Keep your infamy kind of low, but ideally above 0. Don't make too many enemies, rather beat one into the dust. If fighting inside the empire for any reason, vassalize everything. Generally speaking, vassalisation is often superior to annexation, and it is much cheaper infamy-wise. If you notice either the ottomans getting beaten down by someone, or them beating someone down, you might want to jump in and grab a few provinces from the losing side.

Also, I should be studying. But I am playing MEIOU. AGAIN. Fucking addictive...

Hmm, I was certain Dracula is what means of the dragon, since his father was dracul (dragon) and he was dracula (of the dragon). I don't know where this draculesti thing comes from, never heard it mentioned before.

Ok, Transsylvania has the most retarded start in the game. You are a vassal, and the golden horde never accepts any form of tribute. You sliders suck major balls too, you can't even trade at all. So basically, you need to first get rid of the vassalisation by hungary without them slaughtering you, THEN you need to somehow convince the GH to accept tribute instead of just eating you, and if you have somehow managed to do that, you can start actually doing stuff.
