I just feel sorry for MM team since they reworked perfectly fine map cause some people thought it didn't look good, no wonder they couldn't fix bugs then

But vanilla map is terrible once you've used glorious DAO.

Couldn't care less about graphics, I even play CK1 every now and again. Kinda surprised magna mundi wasnt being done on same engine as ck2 though.
A game where the first thing you do is scout with a “worker”. Does that make any sense? Who scouts with a “worker”? That’s like sending out the janitor to perform recon, what general would do that? Retarded game.

I am ripping my hair out trying to figure out how to play this multiplayer with my friend.

I literally want to snap necks. This is far more difficult than it should be. Can anyone give us some help, because every thing we've looked up online has been useless, or just over our heads.

How do I set up and play a multiplayer game of EU3: Divine Wind?

It has nothing to do with graphics, but borders and provinces and rebalancing them.

Most importantly, you need to have the same version of the game. You can see this by comparing the checksum which appears in the lower left of the screen in the main menu. This checksum changes after resigning a game, so you might need to do that once to gain the same checksum.

Of course, if you are behind a router, you might need to forward some ports to your pc. Which those are, and how to forwards ports with your router, can usually be found through a google search. Sometimes, Firewalls lead to problems, too.

Then, one of you needs to host the game, and find out his public IP address. This can be done by googling "What is my IP". The other then needs to join that game by putting that IP into the promp he gets after clicking "join internet game".

If everything went correctly, you should now both be in the lobby and able to choose your countries.

I'm the one Kimaker is trying to play with.

We've managed to connect to each other via Hamachi, but we're still having problems. We constantly get desync errors, followed by crashes, often within only a month or two. We've both tried hosting, and don't have firewalls.

It's good that you're using Hamachi, and that you can connect to one another's games. I also hope you're running v5.1 of Divine Wind.

There will always be desync errors and disconnects. Unfortunately, Paradox Interactive isn't a large studio and will very likely never be able to improve the coding so it doesn't happen. Best thing I can suggest is that you tone down the game speed. Try playing at 3, and see if it helps. Also, I find that sometimes the game just needs a bit of time before it gets used to the flow of the game. So, when you're starting a new game, I'd advise you do so at speed 2 for a week, then speed 3 for a month at least. If you haven't encountered problems, take it up to 4. I wouldn't advise running the game on multiplayer at speed 5.

Yeah I just must stress that this is not something normal. I've played with people cross continent without disconnects. You will need to play at a slower speed though. I'd say try building up from 1 and see how fast you can play without disconnecting. While playing cross continent, speed 4 almost worked (iirc, this was about a year ago).
There's a lot of info as well on the paradox forums that are available if you haven't pirated the game.

I don't believe we ever went above 3, though we did immediately start doing things (wars and such). We'll see how long we can put up with speed 1.

I'll check out the forums if speed 1 either doesn't help or is too unbearably slow.

Desync errors are kinda funny though. First time it happened, I ignored it because nothing seemed different at first. Then we noticed that I saw a Polish army absolutely crush a Ryazan army, while Kimaker saw Poland barely win. On my end, Poland had almost triple as many soldiers survive as on Kimaker's, and according to the history, we were both off.

I really would like to play a Multiplayer Game in EU3 but I feel it is impossible. I bought a copy for my friend at the steam summer sales but we cant even play 5 minutes in Lan without a crash our a sync error...
If you ever play a session again, I would like to join. Maybe it will work for a while

I'm up for it, assuming you have EU3: Chronicles. That's the version with all the expansions.

Send me your steam id, and I'll be sure to invite you next time we try.

Hi guys sorry for grave digging but i am trying to setup a multiplayer game with ma friends. We cant connect directly trough the ip, but we connect just fine using hamachi. We enter the game, select nations, the game starts (we get quests and see the game screen). But when the host hits unpause button the other player drops from the game (almost instantly, after like 1 day or even faster). The droped player has his game closed and he is back to desktop.

We are both using 5.1 Divine Wind (BJLT). I looked for the answer on paradox forum, some players reoprted similiar isues but i never saw the definite solution. So i decided to ask here since some of You are experienced eu3 multiplayer users. Thanks in advance.

I'm experienced enough after some hundreds of hours on it, but can't really help you.

I know this game can have a lot of difficulty when you use hamachi, like constant desync or drop. But the first day drop is something I haven't heard yet. I imagine you have both tried to host the game. Sometimes, you just need to install once again the game, to "clean" it. It happened with some other paradox games to me, and EU3 for some friends.

Out of pure boredom I decided to try MEIOU and I am enjoying it thoroughly. It has some bugs here and there, but overall it's a blast. More historical accuracy, better HRE (even though it is being slapped by France), more flavour and bigger challenge overall. Plus the new core system is brilliant.

I recommend it wholeheartedly, but only if you can look past few bugs and are quite experienced player. This is no vanilla or D&T

What are these MEIOU and Magna Mundi? I've been kind of reluctant to download them as it's damn near impossible to find descriptions of what's the mods are actually about.
I've bought the game, so there are no problems with paradox plaza, but these mods have entire sub forums, so it's kind of tricky to navigate.

Both Mods are increasing difficulty. Each decision/idea/slider has more factors and its not as straight forward as vanilla. MEIOU is very good, but I didnt like the slower pace on max speed. Magna Mundi is alot harder and has working version for EU3:DW now. Try those two if you want new challenge.
For starters there is Death and Taxes which altered gameplay a little bit but not as much as the other two.

Its the same game, you just get a few more numbers with everything. Totally worth it, if you need new challenges or want to replay without doing the exact thing over and over again.

Installing is very easy, just unpack into the MOD folder, start launcher and select whatever you wanna play.

Miscmods is the best mod if you want the "vanilla experience" but with more balanced gameplay and more countries mixed in too. DAO_Miscmods if want the D&T map without the D&T bullshit.

AzeriEU3 is a mod I have little experience with, but it's based off of an AAR and it's much more fast paced. MUCH more fast paced. Troops are recruited as fast as Mercs, no one starts with forts in the beginning (but you still require a ~1 month siege time), and there's just a plethora of changes that I think are really for the better, but again, it's essentially a complete overhaul of the game.

Death and Taxes I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a challenge of an ysort. And this isn't the ravings of a mad fanboy, I gave it a good 30-40 hours of gameplay back when it was new, a few months ago and very recently. If you just want to paint the map and fuck around, go for it, but it's not balanced at all. It gives you massive, MASSIVE, MASSIVE bonus'. In fairness, it also gives it to the AI but guess what -- the AI is retarded and doesn't use them to the full effect. So it's really just you becoming absurdly overpowered. You get free core missions all the time, it's impossible to not own almost all of Europe by 1550 but it's still fun as fuck.

+ Show Spoiler [More D&T ranting] +
Hell, in the last time I played it a couple weeks ago I started as Brandenburg and my very first mission starting was a conquer mission on Pommeria where I get free cores on all the territory in it too. Sliders are even more polarized in D&T and dare I say, even more overpowered. Some of the new nations made are also just completely broken. I don't want to make this sound like it's BAD, I played 30-40 hours of this mod for a reason -- it's fun in its own right, but even in EU3 terms, it's easymode as heck. When I formed the Jagiellon Empire in 1500 I went from a 30 ducat a year profit to 1200 ducat a year profit a few months back in my Poland game, and I still had cores on half of Europe left to take.

Let me give more hard examples of my above claim though. Unlawful territory only gives 5 RR instead of 10, Cleansing of Heresy allows annexing, Westernizing only needs a 10 level gap instead of 20, another example of a just broken empire is Byzantines -> Latin Empire which gives +10 quality, land, innovative, +3 innovative and +2 centralized. The Latin Empire gets their own gov't type that gives Imperialism CB, universal Holy War (usually you need a neighboring province I believe as well), revolt risk -3, stability cost +25%, +0.25 magistrates/yr, +0.5 morale of armies (half as much as the NI). Granted they also get a reduction to navy morale. And that last paragraph was just the first 1/10th of the changelog, and only the most outstanding things. But again, it's still a very fun mod if you want to fuck around with more unique nations and making great empires. But don't expect any challenge. At all. Also apparently they removed starting everyone with free T1 buildings, I still had them in my version a few weeks back but I dunno. Someone can confirm/deny that.

MEIOU I never played so I won't give an opinion, but Magna Mundi is a HAAAARD mod. HAAAAAAAAARD. However if you got Divine Wind and want a completely new experience that also gives a nice little challenge, I'd definitely recommend AzeriEU3. I've been having loads of fun with that lately.

/end excessive rant

Also, I may be doing another AAR sometime in the future (never got to finishing my Papal States one a while back ). Either this, Vicky 2, or HoI3. Unsure which one yet, but yeah, will definitely be posting that in the blog section so keep an eye out ^^

The one thing that MEIOU does right is the core system IMO. Basic core time is set to 300 years. There is a two-level event chain that "cores" a province. Low RR and WE, high stab, same culture, religion, having courthouse or army in the province and similar stuff cut the basic 250 year MTTH of each event. Also no cultural unity event or decision. With higher WE limits enjoy your revolts.

And core giving missions are rare. Like one-in-200-years rare. Basically the only way to get cores fast is to form a nation.

Expanding is much harder if you factor that burn BB methods are sparse. No embassy, no bonus from prestige. Basically only the ruler ADM and diplomat. Hell, even the subjugation mission not only does not reduce BB by 2 but also only gives 1BB for vassalization. And don't even think to monopolize the college of cardinals, it's impossible

Also i just realized that I'm playing with lucky nations on. That would explain the rate at which France is blobbing. I guess I have to build my economy (tech is already catching up despite eastern malus) while vassalizing the shit of rich HRE cities. Yes, it is that cool, there are Freie Reichsstädte, duchies, counties, margraviates. Also HRE borders are wonderfully irregural.

Its a shame that Austria isn't able to Imperial-Ban the shit out of France in my game. Well, being in constant war with either me or France isn't helping I guess

Do I need that "4gb fix" thingy as well?

Honestly the install instructions are the most hairy I've ever seen...

Yeah, that is a bit messy. From my understading you can run the game without it, but there are so many calculations each month that it can lag the game. Haven't tried it though.
