historical mamluks were slaves who took over after the caliphate broke apart. So technically they are no arabs. In the game you have to take the countries on the arab peninsula to form arabia. | ||

You'll have serious trouble dealing with mamluks and neighbouring muslim nations, but once you get the third kind of cavalry you'll all of a sudden deal with them without problems at all and can focus everything on the western countries Rome's really fun to play, but difficult in the way that you'll have the eastern tech group, making your military pretty shit, but it'll take a good while until you're behind enough in tech to westernize. Edit. The best part about playing Rome is easily that you'll have lot's of conquest missions, and once you have everything you need, you'll get cores over the Italy area and the balkans. In addition you'll get an awesome looking country with special decisions that are quite interesting. | ||

Got some nice missions and decisions as you said :p Though I wasn't that hard, hardest part was taking care of the Mamluks and getting Rome :p I decided to help Lithuania make Jaggelion to spice things up ! | ||

Generally speaking eastern units are worse than western units at equal tech levels. You might be able to find some exceptions though.
