This is really annoying, when I like to superspeed my way through peacetime. But these pirates force me to stop up all the time. Can I fix this somehow? Yes you can! I had the same problem with pirates, and it can be fixed in 2 ways I have found. 1. Have a small navy in docked around your colonies, you don't need a navy in each colony, just spread them out so there is a navy close to all colonies. 2. You can patrol with your navy, look for a button under the ship list in your selected navy saying "Start Patrol". This will eventually cause attrition so after 10 year you have to dock them for a month or 2. I personally went with number 1. I had the Azores (small island west of Portugal), Jamaica and most of the northern North America + some Asian countries. Station 2 ships in Azores, 2 docks in the north America, Jamaica and some docks in Asia and the pirate problem was for the most part fixed for me.

In any case, thanks for the advice. yes just let some ships, even one might be enough, stay in a harbor and it will keep pirates from spawning in a fairly big area around it

Either way, the game is soon about to end (1750 now. It ends about 1820 right?) and I'm thinking of taking over HRE. What are the odds of the AI saying no to your reforms? I'm at the one where you dissolve all casus bellis within the empire, and I'm not sure I wanna do it as that means I can't kill off my vasalls =/ Does anyone wanna know if there are conditions, such as high infamy (currently around 20 after taking a chunk of orleans) when doing the reforms?

Infamy does indeed influence diplomatic decisions and I would think that include HRE too

I'm perplexed as to what happened. I thought maybe my fleet engaged an enemy fleet and lost, but I don't recall seeing a "you lost this battle" message, plus I had the largest fleet in the game, twice that of the next country, and on average the ships were in pretty good health... they would have beaten any other fleet that came against them. I was shocked. Reloading wasn't an option so I continued to play. Rebuilding my entire fleet really set me back; it took me almost a decade to becoming a naval power again and I lost a lot of continental provinces during that time because I couldn't ferry enough troops to defend them. I also lost a decades worth of building provincial improvements. Oh well, maybe it's good that I was set back a bit. I was starting to get a little cocky, being able to just dominate everyone with my naval and land armies, haha.

I heard about sea attrition and am always careful to send my fleet back to a safe harbor to repair when I see it start to wear down. As soon as I got the message that I lost one of my ships due to attrition I started heading back to an ally port. But it never made it back.... it just... vanished! At the time I had the speed cranked at full for just a few seconds and was focused on land battles. I'm perplexed as to what happened. In these moments you have to find someone nearby who lets your armies enter his country, then you can park your ships in his harbor and they get repaired Scotland is annoying with the beta patch when you are at war they spawn 11000 soldiers in the highlands every year and you own army is starving everywhere .............

I just completed a playthrough as England in the new beta patch, what I did was to start over untill I got the attack Scotland mission, sold my provinces on the mainland to france and burgendy. Send a soldier to the island that scotland have, waited for their army to go there and used my navy to keep them trapped there! Then take most of scotland, and wait a few years for the rest

Thanks! what you can do is look in your steam folder for EU3 and there should be a launcher exe start it and you will get into the launcher menu there you can search for new updates and the game will download the new beta patch

Nor do I think there has been a beta patch after 5.1 release, it should be in the Tech Support forum on Paradoxplaza.

For some reason it says I have 1% morale, even though I have 4 stars in the ledger. And it only shows in combat, so there's no way of knowing :/ Ah well. Just finished the game and I got a little sad.. It's too bad you can't continue in some kind of free game mode where you get a chance to conquere the entire world. I started out small and under a union so I never got the chance. Atleast they could've made some sweet ending graphic of the expansion of your empire or something along those lines.. ah well. Awesome fucking game regardless ^__^
