Hey I used the console to cheat when I was playing Austria (had been playing for so long and I refused to have it all wasted by the stupid Holy Roman Empire mechanic bullshit)

Anyway I managed to use the wrong console command and make my cities produce "Gold" instead of their usual iron/wheat/whatever, problem is they're not selling it, they're producing 1.4 - 1.6 in production but they're not trading it, even on the province which has a center of trade (which is still fully functional),
Anyone know why this is or if I can reverse this? All I wanted was some duncans, not ruining 5 provinces trade

So, pro tip. Make sure when you're starting a game to turn Lucky Nations to "None"

Holy crap this is so much better.

Lucky Nations set to Historical (the standard one) gives significant bonus' to major countries

Merchant Compete Chance +10%
Colonist Placement Chance +10%
Missionary Yearly Success Chance +1.5%
Leader Fire 1
Leader Shock 1
Government Tech Cost Modifier -2%
Land Tech Cost Modifier -2%
Naval Tech Cost Modifier -2%
Production Tech Cost Modifier -2%
Trade Tech Cost Modifier -2%
Spy Efficiency +5%
Stability Cost Modifier -50%

Starting at 1399 will always have Castile, Muscovy, Ottoman Empire, England, France, Austria, Portugal and Sweden as lucky nations with this on.

Don't play with lucky nations if you want to play your own game, Lucky nations is a handicap to make some specific nations just outright win

Also, whats the point of CoT's, even if i spam one with like 5 of my merchants.. which costs me atleast 50 gold to do... within a short time frame they just get pushed out by other merchants.. doesnt seem very worthwhile.. just losing money?

Play Holland. Quickest way to learn why CoTs are awesome.

Lucky nations makes the games way more fun. Otherwise the AI never builds up any massive empires. You can set it to random if you a less historical flavor.

I dont know how anyone can bear Historical. It just ends up with France, England, Ottomans and Spain winning.

France ALWAYS loses the 100 year war for me and gets annexed. Ottomans die alot as well. Playing as Prussia right now I managed to keep Austria in check and Iberia just munches up the new World. Lucky nations makes the game hard, without it the AI is a joke at building empires. I've never played random though, seems really fun. But no lucky nations at all? Ew

I don't understand why you cheat while playing.. -.-' Do you maphack in SC2 because you're tired of that stupid fog of war mechanic?

Cheating at first and then weening yourself off of cheating as you learn makes the game alot more...bearable.

I play as how the hell I want and what gives me the most enjoyment, I play singleplayer and nobody suffers from it but self rightouss people like yourself who think that I in my rights to play the game I bought the way I want to should be restrained with what you consider to be vanilla. The reason I get angry is because people who propegate that games should be played in a strict fashion usually don't realize that their taste is not always the 100% norm and that giving people the possibility to play/cheat a singleplayer game if they so choose to benefits noone but everyone who chooses to.

Secondly that was not the question and your answer was not the one sought for, though thanks for trying.

Also this, I'm playing on hard and it's my first time, it wouldn't had been a huge problem if not for me not being ready with the HRE event and I don't care if it's a part of the game I don't want to waste 4 hours of gameplay. This isn't dwarf fortress, it isn't fun to lose most of the time.

Is anyone else having major problems with lag? I can't even load my game now because it lags to much and I have a gaming rig which can play Farcry 2 on max settings, why can't I even access the "Saved Games" screen in this game?

ok Maj... but then what is better an infantry unit with 1 shock and 0 everything else... but has 1/0 moral

or an infantry unit with 0/0 attacks but has 1/1 moral??

The moral guy can stay in longer but does much less damage.. and the shock guy can do damage but runs away fast? Both seem kinda useless... those are the only kinds of infantry i can build right now..

Ps ive made a few posts having significant questions.. and all u guys have responded too is the cheating thing and lucky nations... comon help me out so i can enjoy this more i need to understand to enjoy!

Open the save file with notepad. Ctrl+F the names of province, change the trade good to whatever you want.

Gold is a fuckton better than most trade goods until lategame anyway. Most valueable product possible is Salt, but Iron can turn into Steel and Steel+Weapons Manufactory=Win.

The game will lag if you have even a mediocre video card. It's ridiculous how awful the coding is but vid card makes a huuuuge difference. I ran the game just fine and didn't realize it was so memory intensive until I went to a friends house who had the exact same computer save the video card and it lagged horribly. Paradox does an absolutely horrid job at optimizing their games but eh oh well.

The ONLY time I cheat is when my territory gets threatened by the HRE Emperor. If I could I would get a mod to get that shit out or if I knew how to disable it in the config files.

Also, England in my current game is about 15 different independent nations. wat.

Thank God for console commands!

Playing as the emperor I can't always just give territories back to their original owners no matter how much I want to so I have to take it for myself then sell it to them for free which I console command the infamy away cause it's bullshit that game mechanics don't allow that to begin with. Just want to return cores to my beloved HRE minors but no. Stupid game. Also I noticed an AI glitch in which they'll stack like 100k in a province and stand still so I'll console command to tag switch to prevent them from dying from attrition. There's no fun in winning a war if you're enemy is a moron.

I love snatching provinces back for the empire when you treacherous outsiders threaten my poor subjects.

Thanks for this thread. I don't know how I have managed to not notice this game earlier. It feels like pretty much everything I've wanted. Whenever I play Civilization I get bored after the early period since politics aren't good at all in those games and somehow they're just not so fun when you can't anymore be finding new lands to colonize. I love Total War series but I'm kinda weird when it comes to them in that I usually autoresolve the battles. I just want to play on the world map and doing the battles myself means having to wait longer until I can go on with my plans. Also Total War series are kinda lacking when it comes to the world map portion of the game.
I'm playing with Castille now and I'm wondering how critical is it to keep the stability high. Should I invest heavily in it even if it means slowing down my other investments a lot? I had stability 3 for some time but then I got a series of events quickly and they dropped my stability to zero (now it's 1). Now I'm thinking about attacking Portugal despite having a royal marriage with them. There will probably be severe consequenses but they're weak because of several rebellions and the rebellions gave me a Casus Belli (border friction).

You can cancel the Royal Marriage before you declare.

And yes, Stability is VERY important. Never declare without Casus Belli unless you are an extremely small nation that can Stab back super fast.

You could try to claim the throne or dissolve the Royal Marriage before attacking. Especially the latter shouldn't lose you any stability, irrc.
