Also, is this a common problem for most people and is there a common solution? I have trouble pulling off some basic moves from the left-side. So let's say I'm playing Ibuki, when I hold my arcade stick, I can easily perform kunai's or my ultra I if it starts from the left and goes right. If I'm on the other side of my opponent, it's too awkward/uncomfortable to really pull off the mood from the right side to the left. The feeling is similar to as if I'm writing on my other hand or trying to bend my hand towards my body (it's limited and not fully capable). I don't know if I'm making it clear enough, I can get a picture of how I hold my stick if that helps.

And yes, some motions are more difficult or easy on certain sides - common one I hear people having issues with is DPs from 2-player side, though I typically have more issues with DP from 1P side instead =/

I usually have trouble doing anything involve half or quarter-circle moves from 1P side. It's really awkward and uncomfortable and maybe it's just how I'm holding my stick.

And yeah, if you're just starting out on a stick, everything will probably feel awkward when it comes to the stick itself - just find a good hand placement and things will just start clicking. Doing simple execution drills also help put it in muscle memory as well.

I personally find a lot of motions much easier FROM 2p side, yet I practice a lot from 1P side (due to training mode etc.) It's just pure practice and getting used to the motions. I've had my stick almost a year now, and even 4-6 months after I bought it I was still a bit uneasy. I played primarily SF4 with it, and when I would try marvel with friends I would be braindead and be totally awful and not used to it. Now a year later, I picked up Marvel again and the stick/motions are totally natural and I don't even need to think twice.

I am going to check this out! I get wrecked by anyone who plays defensively as I end up panicking and trying to quickly do some strong move ): It's a real bad habit.

The side problem is usually due to the habit of being player 1 or player 2 most of the time you play. I'm on my hand having problems playing from left to right side because I start as player 2 in ranked game. ( as i queue instead of creating lobby )

But after many many training sessions almost exclusively on 1P side, that side feels most natural :o

I figure I have Ibuki for offensive play, but I really want to play someone who's pretty defensive and patient Most charge characters are easy to play, though I think Balrog and Guile are both easier if you want a patient character. I would say Honda has to be aggressive in like 50% of his matchups. Good reactions are necessary to play any of these characters, and for Honda you also need the soulreads. Also his Hundred Hand Slap is kind of annoying to get out quickly with consistency, some people have trouble with it, especially on pad.

I'm talking a style like Ryu. My friend plays him all the time and he basically blocks everything and strikes with his Shoryuken.

Edit: Yeah Sagat would probably be a good choice too.
