I thought I had a firm grasp on frame data, but after looking some things over im second guessing myself. For example i use Adon and his c. lk is +5 on hit, and can combo into cl. sMk which has 6 frames of start up. I thought that if a move is say +5 on hit, that any move that has 5 or less frames of startup would combo, but i guess i was wrong.

Why does this combo?

I don't have the game in front of me now, but that shouldn't combo. Your understanding of frame data is correct though. Adon cl.mk shouldn't be comboable by anything except cl.lp and maybe cl.mp at point blank range on certain characters?

Well I suppose the frame data on eventhubs / shoryuken is incorrect, because I'm positive this combos and it doesn't even feel like a one frame link either, i can do it most of the time without plinking. Thanks

Wow Soulstice is right, Adon's cl.mk really does combo from cr.lk. It also combos from cr.lp which is also +5 on hit. I went to training mode and made sure to turn off counter hit and put the dummy on autoblock. Looks like you can do j.mk, cr.lk, cl.mk xx hk rising jaguar for 290dmg if the j.mk lands in front of the opponent. If j.mk crosses up, you'll be too far to get cl.mk so far.mk will come out instead. Maybe on some characters it might work, I only tested it on Blanka and Sakura.

That's pretty interesting. I did look at the Adon forum on SRK and found this post:

Some players and me think that now the start-up of the close mk is 5 frames now, which means forget the close hp as a frame trap.


The same thread also suggests that the j.hk damage is the old value, which suggests that the frame data wasn't updated (or at least not researched beyond regurgitating Capcom's change list) after AE 2012.

I think it might've been changed to 5 frame. Most of the frame data on SRK Wiki / Eventhubs is from super / ae without being updated for ae/2012.

Thanks for the heads up, cross up lk leaves you close enough for the cl. mk on all characters but its a bit hard to combo off of than j. mk.
Edit: Although crossup mk actually will leave you close enough on Blanka

money match between myself and a guy from edmonton here. he challenged me, what was i gonna do, say no? :D

overall im not too happy with this match. watching i feel like its pretty evident i havent touched sakura in a month or so. during the first couple rounds especially i have some executional flubs that always make me really angry. my goal in this match was to stay the FUCK away from makoto because in AE this was actually a pretty bad matchup for sakura. makoto was the only character that had a higher stun potential than sakura, and sakura had no real way to keep her out.

makoto isnt very tough now i dont think. i had to play a little random to keep him from locking me down. i also cant believe i actually threw the fireball that let him take one of the sets T________T

my sakura a lil rusty but i guess she's still more solid than my cammy. imma just play both at the tournament this weekend.

anyway, please watch the video and critique my gameplay thanks! always looking to plug holes, don't tell me to practice execution or i will fuckin slap you

Why so many air tatsu? Trying to bait a fukaige? If anything I feel Makoto would be the one character I wouldn't try baiting with an air tatsu. At the angles you were trying that it still looked like Fukaige would have nailed you. I mean I do that vs other characters with orthodox dp's but I've also done that vs Makoto/Cammy and it doesn't pan out the same way.

Other than that nothing else I notice thast worth critique besides one that shall nto be mentioned.

Random but probably since I haven't touched this game in months, it's fun to me again. Heh wonder how long it'll last thou

- You are jumping a lot (aside from mixups).
- The Makoto player is obviously afraid of your pressure, throwing a lot of desperation ultras.
- Once you get a bit of a lead, doesn't hurt to go in hard, as Makoto doesn't have much to break your momentum. If she gets a knockdown on you, just get out of there. Don't think I really saw any option selects or anything like that from the Makoto player, so it shouldn't be too hard to get out.
- Makoto player is clearly baiting for your hadoukens. Watch his meter. My friend plays Akuma and once he gets ultra, I have to be really really careful :p (he baits jabs and throw techs with demons =_____= )
- When you are mixing him up, he did a bunch of desperation EX moves (mostly chops). Might be able to bait those and force him to block instead. Then start going for walk-up throws, etc.

Other than that, solid play, imo :D

Oh thats a thing specific to this guy, he thinks makoto cant be challenged air to sir so random air tatsus are just arrogant fishing for the corner carry. Its not a normal part of my game unless im vs guile or someone whose anti airs can be destroyed

I had no intention of challenging his fukiage with air tatsus cuz that shit does not go wellvexcept in fringe cases where the extende air time eats fukiages active frames. Air tatsu destroys makotos air to air normals, thats all. The kara tatsus where I fly over his head from closer range, im incorrectly readingn his axe kick patterns. You can hit her on your way up, for, again, near full corner carry

SBO Qualifiers at Super Arcade will be starting in about 5 minutes. The format appears to be 3v3 teams, even though I prefer a singles tournament where the winner can pick his two partners for Tougeki, but this should produce some great matches nonetheless.
