sounds great. been watching vids the whole night. next question: what do you think of that stick? i know its some cheap-ass shit but for beginners its ok i believe? arcade stick
i could buy it for 31€. really good price imo. i thought about using that stick for practicing and one day upgrade it with those good buttons/stick from sanwa? the look doesnt matter to me for now.
oh and: do i need Games for Windows or is it actually possible to play with STEAM only? i like steam more.
and thx for the amazon deal! its only 8€ here too for the boxversion

Probably fewer top players on PC, but that shouldn't be an issue unless you are dedicating yourself to it 24/7. You'll find games easily. Using a keyboard is also infinitely easier than using an xbox controller, even as a grappler with an analog stick
Not to mention 1button ultra macros...
Edit: then again you could use the xim 360 for the same effect on xbox

Fairly sure you'll need GFWL no matter what version you buy (certainly for Steam version), unless there's some way around it that I don't know of.

A couple of opinions on SRK mention that the buttons are really bad, and that the best use of the stick is for the circuit board, which comes dual modded (compatible with both 360 and PS3).
From what I've heard, modding a stick like that isn't particularly hard, but it does take some effort. You can take a look at this tutorial if you want an idea of what'll be ahead:

The consensus seems to be that one's first stick should be a quality product. I'm not sure what it's like in Germany, but used sticks tend to be fairly cheap on craigslist and SRK's trading subforum. See if you can find something decent at a reasonable price first.

See if you can get a cheap Madcatz SE stick from ebay etc. and mod it with Sanwa parts.

Try to find a stick with a Japanese joystick at least; the buttons are very easy to replace if you want to change those out, but the stick itself is fairly expensive and laborious. Hori's low end models have Japanese sticks and cheapo buttons, that may be a good place to start. Personally I've always cared more about the feel of the stick than the buttons anyway.

that hobby will be expensive for sure lol but thx for your advices.

But I can understand that it's a big step for people who aren't sure whether they're seriously going to play fighting games. While i'm really happy with my Madcatz TE, I don't really play enough to justify coughing up $150. But oh well...

is there any place that does free leagues or tournaments for lower level players?

Is there a German scene? Otherwise you have to play online a bit which is sufficient for a hobby I guess. I am always jealous of the US community. T_T

I used to play pretty seriously, but I mained Ryu and stopped shortly after AE came out which nerfed Ryu out of S-Tier and the top tier character became Yun and Fei long and C.Viper, and I only like playing zoning characters. I have a madcatz TE arcade fightstick im not using, its this one if anyones interested + Show Spoiler +

Ryu S-tier what?
Anyway, 2012 is really balanced, you should consider coming back. Almost every character is very strong.

yeah I tried to redeem the key through steam and origin, but it didn't work. I had to use GFWL and I must say I am not a fan. lol
