Oh and I love the tougeki lineup, too sick, I listed it on twitter when I saw it but I think the favorite teams, other than the madcatz teams will be: Fuudo/Itabashi Kazunoko/Ojisanboy MDR/Haitani MichaelTan/Yazu Nemo/Kyabetsu Momochi/Bonchan And Banana Hsien :D
I think Fuudo has a good shot to run the gauntlet though I mean, Fei/Gief is a pretty awesome team setup for the players they'll be up against at SBO. Obviously won't be easy but not out of the realm of possibility.

Do you know what you're doing wrong?
You can practice until you're blue in the face but if you don't know where you're screwing up then you wont get better. Figure out what your weaknesses are and work on them. If you haven't gotten better in 2 months its probably a total lack of good fundamentals and just concentrating on the wrong thing.
I know a lot of new players concentrate on landing combos when that wont do shit for you if you can't hit them in the first place. Learn footsies, learn how to block, learn how to properly tech. You will be shocked at how quickly you improve when you concentrate on being really good at something inane like blocking. People leave holes in their block stream that can only be exploited if you can block half decently.
After that you can start working on your combos and what not.
Oh yea, and don't start with Ibuki like I did >.> Man that learning curve. I'm happy I did it because it forced me to learn all the fundamentals and then advanced shit on top of that just to be decent but was it FRUSTRATING starting out.
I have just finally got this game and I am starting with Ibuki because I'm doing alright with her. Probably my best character is Zangief but I never feel I am learning anything when I play him. Can you offer me a good Ibuki guide. I find she has a lot of good moves and tools at her disposal, but her her low health forces me to capitalize which can be difficult.

The whole Vesper arcade tutorials on youtube are amazing. They work for all characters really well and gives you the basics you need to know. Goes over everything from blocking to plinking. It also goes over buffering, Super jump cancelling, and Crossovers that are all really important to know, but for Ibuki in particular they are ABSOLUTELY necessary to get good at her.
What worked for me was just learning the basics. First and foremost I learned how to block and tech because that wins you games on its own. Then I found out what footsies worked best where, what wiffed against what character and what didnt, how long a kunai took to come out ETC ETC. Just learned her basic moves and special moves inside and out. It was painstaking to learn what move beat what for every opponent but it was so worth it.
After that I started to learn her combos. Once I could execute her 1 frame link combos just about when I wanted to I added super jump cancelling into those combos so I could start to learn how to properly vortex. To lead up to this I learned how to crossover with her Kunai after a knockdown, which was far more precise than I expected it to be. I also taught myself not to get overly confused when I started to command dash all over the place. It's startlingly easy to forget where you are when you're zipping back and forth with H command dash and M command dash etc.
The Ibuki Vortex is one of the most annoying things to learn but it makes a huge mind fuck difference when you play against people. At this point, even though I was comfortable with commands in general, I lost it so often because you're really all over the place once you start the vortex. I can't count the number of times I was jabbed out of an awesome setup because my timing was off by like two frames.
After working at it enough I was able to do it somewhat decently. Now i'm in the process of reading other people. This is still a work in progress . It's really rewarding once you start to piece it together though.
All of these things however make for a character that is as far from newb friendly as you can get. There is enough thrown at you in the start without having to worry about the other shit Ibuki has at her disposal to make her competitive. The other thing about Ibuki, and this is just my opinion, is that she is a heavily offense oriented character. Like you said, she has low life and you tend to feel uncomfortable when you're forced on the defensive because if you block wrong once you might just find a third of your health missing. The two fold problem rears its ugly head here, a new player is almost always going to play defensive over offensive because it's more comfortable...you feel as if you're reacting instead of being proactive and if you are clueless that's generally a more comfortable place for people. Defensive play sucks for Ibuki and you suffer for it.
My other main is Sakura...and for me at least she was a lot less hectic for me to learn. She has 1 frame links up the ass but I don't have to worry about a lot of things I would when I play Ibuki. She seemed more relaxed to me anyway.
Hey all seasoned SF players i am trying to figure out this game in more detail.
And 2 of my friends are fairly highly ranked on xbox live, but i've only played on his live account so i dont know my rating yet. I am pretty ok at this game.
But alot of the time recently after feeling comfortable doing moves and combos to some extend i feel some of the time i am just randomly doing moves rather than thinking about it.
I dont really know how to "counter" or punish things really that much dont get me wrong i understand if someone jumps i know with ryu i can upper cut that kind of stuff. i know i can use fireballs vs people just to force a reaction. But i dont really understand what i should be doing in a more abstract sense.
My fav characters are ryu and juri and guile at the moment, I had a long set of games last night with my friends one of them was vega and i was juri and he sat in the corner charging and spaming out the same type of moves through the air then switching depeding on what i did was really frustrating to play against.
I was only able to beat him by just attacking like crazy and not countering anything really. As this other guy isnt that good he plays akuma and vega by spamming same sets of moves and its hard to know what you should do in these wierd situations. But even when i was attacking like crazy in the end i was kind of randomly choosing moves and hoping rather than knowing anything. And because i play sc2 and bw i like to know why i am doing something rather than randomly doing something.
^ I just take mental notes when playing a person. "He teched the last two throw, time to go for a counter hit." "He ate the last throw, next knockdown I'll fake a meaty and throw him again." "Last time I was at a big life disadvantage, he played really safe and didn't take risks or burn meter, time to rush him down as best I can and force him to use meter, possibly make a comeback." "He always pokes after he blocks a dash punch, time to headbutt immediately after the next blocked dash punch to blow up that poke."
A lot of stuff can be hard to figure out on the spot, but painfully obvious in a replay afterward. I can't tell you how many times I watched a replay of myself and thought "what the hell was I thinking there!?" Can be fun to do once in a while.

I recommend looking at both of your habits. If you start noticing a particular pattern, then you can figure out how to beat it. For instance, you say your friend likes doing wall jump shenanigans with Vega. So when you see him charge up approach him slowly and throw out a DP after he jumps off the wall.
Mike Ross used to be my favorite player, but when I saw the excellent adventures of mike ross and gootecks, gootecks became my favorite player. :p I just love his laugh, it's hilarious and contagious!

I actually really like Gustavo's Makoto lol, too bad that BananaKen and Hsien Chang aren't repping for the 5v5 for USA, since they're 2 of the best we have.
