It is encouraging for sure, but the numbers won't lie and for sure will be the deciding factor.
The devs might have the most amazing ideas and passion, but if there is no budget because the warlock expo didnt sell well, probably 3.0 will be the last hurrah.
To me this feels like a good push to get back to d2r which, as an estimate, ive played for just about as much time as i had played the classic version so the value for money to me it is worth it given the number of hours played already and what might result from this.
Ah, thanks for the correction. Yeah that makes sense, judging from the reactions I'm seeing in various D2 communities it seems to be pretty well received, I'd imagine Blizz made a pretty good chunk of money from it already from both the DLC itself and new people that are buying the D2R + DLC bundle on both Bnet and especially Steam.

there will be more changes for sure though because apparently theyve disabled mosaic for the new ladder because they wanted to rework it.
it was absolutely busted but i liked it that way. i thought it was cool to have at least 1 build that could literally obliterate everything. hopefully they dont nerf it to death. id be ok with increasing the cost of the build though. Ah yes that for sure. I was more referring to new classes or even act 6. Regular ladders and the usual changes im still expecting. i dont think well ever get an act 6, or a complete act 4. theres no way they add anything to d2r that impacts the lore simply because d3 and d4 exist.
Out of curiosity, what do you mean by a complete act 4?
4 and 5 feel rather complete to me :D

Act 4 has like half the content of the others. Changing act 4 would be a very stupid thing to do though.

Well as a kid it always felt that going down there and being a short and hard battle made sense and that stick with me eversince so I've never really thought about it in the sense of it being half of the others :D
But thank you, its clear now what you meant!

Didn't have "Diablo 2 gets a new class" on my bingo card. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

game can't even launch on blizzard launcher, and they are refusing the refund Gonna write up a complaint letter. It works fine on steam.

That's strange to hear. No issues with me or my friends/family who are playing it on the Blizzard launcher. Any chance it works on a different computer or after uninstalling/reinstalling the launcher?

Known bug. People seem to be getting around it by reinstalling d2r all together.

Didn't know about the rumors. Base game was always like you had these 3 acts and then fight Diablo. Act 3 was hard as hell with very annoying enemies while Act 4 was kind of a fast breeze until Diablo boss fight. Childhood memories

Glad it worked.
I haven't experience that bug myself but i saw before people talking about.
The chronicle reset bug is identified now and is being worked on as well. Careful when getting new grail items from item racks, identifying a new one will reset your list until the bug is fixed.
On the subject of bugs, the walking like a horse animation on Amazons with Histeria equiped is actually amazing :D gagnam style walking amazon is funny.

Anyone potentially interested in a ladder reset playthrough?
|
Oh I missed that message. I played a bit last night but reset was at 1am so only played about 1h30 to do act 1 and 2 normal.
I woke up to see people already entering 90's as usual. Still fun to see the difference a sorc and a barb can make in a party :D

I may get the new D2 on PS5, have a new TV QLED and it is pretty sick, been becoming a casual console player lately lol

So has anyone experience with the new class? Wondering if paying that much money for an additional class is worth it.
|
from what ive seen, the class looks broken. doesnt really feel like a d2 class simply because it doesnt seem to be bad at anything. every other class has bad skills or bad builds that are just unplayable until you get specific items, whereas it doesnt seem like you could go wrong with the warlock no matter what you do.
personally im waiting for a sale, but i dont plan on buying it simply for warlock alone. i always find myself coming back to d2 once every few years and when i playthrough the game again i would want the other qol and endgame changes too. the warlock addition is just a bonus for me

Well they've talked about skills that are not usable a bit and essentially they wanted to avoid having unusable skills or paths.
In a sense that why create or incorporate a build/skill path that you know nobody will find fun or ever play it because it is simply broken/too weak?
So they tried to have something for every play style to have fun, that is why he can have different play styles.
Regarding builds not needing gear to be effective, people are exagerating a bit and are using 2 builds that have bugs, echoing strikes being the most evident case. Once the bugs are fixed a lot of people will 180 and start crying about the "nerfs" is my prediction.
It doesn't mean there arent some things a bit overtuned that will need some tweaking (like vitality to health ratio or bind demon not being fully effective with just one point), but not right broken in comparison to other stuff in the game. Best warlock builds fall behind a mosaic assassin, a javazon and a properly used sorc. He is somewhat on par with hammerdin.
And you can go wrong for sure :D specially once the bugs get fixed that are now propeling people past hell much easier than they should.
Also dont forget sunder charms are now different and much much much much more rare, so people will have to relearn how to handle immunities.
Im still mid my run with him, finishing NM now. For me he sits below a sorc and a javazon in fun, clear speed and farming wise, but he feels somewhat safer because he is tankier. Def find him more fun than a barb or a paladin and probably as fun as a poison necro for me personally, so far.
Just my 2 cents obviously and if you are unsure do indeed wait for a sale we dont know how long will it take blizzard to fix those bugs and put him in line so waiting is not a bad strat.

Thanks for the info you two. Will prolly hold on to my money for now then and wait till it's a bit cheaper, 20$ is a bit steep for a single class and a few QoL fixes/items.
