Been playing PTR a bit.
I have an idea to go bladesin focused on deadly strike and enhanced damage.
Shako (Cham)
Nats Claw (Lo)
Phoenix shield
Fortitude armor
TGods
Laying of hands
Gore riders
Highlords
Wisp
BK
+3 Bladeshield +2 Plagues x2 (weapon switch prebuff) *ideally I’d want +6 bladeshield magic claws, but lol
Full trap GCs
Skill points would be everything into blade shield and synergies. One point into MA tree and Shadow Tree.
Rotation: Phoenix strike(x3) > dragon flight > Phoenix strike > dragon flight.
Merc would prolly be something like Plague/Silence sword, Treachery, Andy helm on an A5 merc for Might and Cleansing aura.
Gonna play test and see how it goes.
edit: Build didnt turn out the way I expected. Bladeshield tick damage has long intervals. I fooled around with Blade Fury and it was okay. Blade Sentinel was okayish too. Overall im disappointed lol. Build suffers greatly if you dont have ITD. I had to put a Jah in my Barctucs cause there wasnt a Nats wep available

Yeah the blade skills are just kind of awkward to use with their timings.
I think fire Sorc and Fire druids/Shamans are probably the real winners this patch in terms of new PvM builds.

Fire Druid is nice. Doesn’t straight up compete with wind Druid, but it gets the job done.
Phoenix monarch is definitely a must on the build. Ravenlore or Jalals (I personally find the phys damage from volcano and Armageddon the true damage dealers) so going -fire resist or infinity isn’t necessary. I don’t particularly like how Infinity is required for a lot of builds to be viable. So I’m a huge advocate of this particular build.
Gameplay is fun I guess? It’s refreshing at least. Keep Arma up and spam volcano and molten boulder in between. A lot less clunky if u use quick cast keybinds. For some stupid reason blizzard still hasn’t fixed “stand still” casting when u hold down alt. Kinda annoying cause you end up “attack moving” to a mob when ur spam clicking molten/volcano inbetween cooldowns.
I still feel 4 sec internal cooldown for volcano is a bit much. But I think blizz is taking the right precautions with over buffing certain abilities.

In theory it should open up a lot of possibilities for hybrid builds that include volcano and/or the other stuff.

Does 2.4 apply to LOD classic?
Or do you have to play the forced-online Resurrection to use it?

It does not. Original D2 LoD will likely never be updated again is what I'm guessing.

No patch is worth having to log in to play. Old LoD is great as it is.

I'm waiting for ladder to play, overall the patch sounds great I like the skill tunings and for example the set items being upgradeable sound super neat to me cause I like to make use of low level rare items and trade, also the extra lvl85 areas sound super neat. There is mostly just one thing that scared me a little is that I've seen A5 merc being able to nearly solo some uber bosses or some of the hardest areas in the game with crazy survivability and damage (with big gear ofc) which makes me a bit worried about game becoming too easy but I just hope to be proven wrong and love more balance with the merc choice in general. Anyway I'm excited for this legit ladder on new patch.

I feel like I want to mess around with throw barb, did anyone play it since 2.4? Pierce should give enough aoe to make it slightly less painful than melee builds, but it's not quite as powerful as the top builds. Gearwise it'll be interesting, forces me to look at a completely new set of items again. Also Wisdom, the new headpiece runeword seems good for that character.

Ladder starts at 3am CEST tonight / 8pm EST today according to forum info (or maybe it's 1 hour earlier).
According to forum info, bots and cheating is now rampant again so I don't know if I should even buy the game lol if there is cheating going on on ladder I'm not gonna play for more than a few days or something it was looking good before but now there is somebody streaming botting on twitch apparently and botters around according to posters. So that sounds terrible tbh : P I don't know what to do now, maybe I should just not even buy the game. Can't even post on blizz forums if you didn't buy game so can't let them know there that it's a big concern. There you go.

Pierce should be easy to come by. I would recommend Phoenix shield + warshrike and razortail.

a reply I got now about cheating on D2R:
"the cheating isnt rampant compared to Lod, its just snowflakes that whine when they see 1 bot and assume 99% of players bot when its like 0.01% (or probably lower)
edit: they have patched all public dupe methods from d2 lod (tried all, even private dupe methods and none worked online) so duping is probably very very limited"
Just gonna be watching it and decide to play or not. I'm thinking play and then I'll be out if I feel like there's a lot of cheating like before will see. Pls ban all cheaters : P
