If you want safety you could go with Ancient's Pledge which you can 100% get in Act 5 normal but I find I don't really need any extra defence or resists on summoner past normal difficulty. In nightmare your summons become super strong and you just breeze through the game in relative safety on the backline so most you really worry about is random gear with +skills as you're not reliant on anything specific for the build to work. I used to have lvl 86 HC summonmancer who finally died when I went AFK on Baal in Hell difficulty (that's how cocky I was). | ||

First what is the Quality lvl of Bone Wand: http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/normal/wands.shtml Its qlvl: 18, and the affixlvl of +3 tab is 60. In affixlvl chart above you will find itemlvl will have to be 69. I.E monsters of lvl 69 and above to get a Bone Wand of ilvl 69 and have the chance of +3 tab. Not sure how it works now. It will spawn for everyone who is at the same IP and in Hell. This doesnt mean the same game though. Each Server IP im guessing can hold X amount of hosted games. Whenever you make a new game you can be on another IP. There is a site that checks and counts amount of sojs sold per IP. Also an eth bonehew. Stuck a shael and amn in there, and now my necro's merc does 1.1k-4.6k, which is pretty fun. Certainly makes recovering from the odd wipe super easy. Frees up reaper's toll for another character as well. | ||

Found my first SOJ off andy yesterday as well as guillaume's face. I can now solo baal fairly effectively! Gotta hunt for that tal's armor and my Sorc will be finished aside from getting anni and torch... | ||

Been Soj hunting Andy a lot lately, found around 15 unique rings, best was a 19/249 raven. =[ May quit until ladder starts, the mf grinding is getting a bit tedious and my only two friends who played both quit back to POE sadly. | ||

I saw a vid where 100 unid rings from unbug NM Andy yielded 3 SOJs. Not a great sample size but roughly 3% chance for a ring to be SOJ if it’s from NM Andy, which is best for SOJ hunting | ||

NM Andy mlvl 49, For rings: mlvl = ilvl = qlvl. SOJ qlvl 39 rarity 1 Nagel qlvl 10, rarity 15 Manald qlvl 20, rarity 15 These are the unique rings Andy can drop, if we now addup the rarities you get the odds. 1/31 chance to get a SOJ from Andy if you find a unique ring.
