Its a periodic reset of the economy with the difficulty turned up again at the start since there are no very rare ultra strong items around for a while. Cheating problems mess it up quickly.. [but even then, you can usually still get a place in the top 200 of your class(es) in HC]. When ladder starts, if you know you'll play ladder chances are you'll only play ladder. So I guess for anyone playing now a question is, how long before ladder starts? But anyway, all characters end up in non ladder mode so if you're interested in playing that at times it's good I know some people do, permanent characters etc. Just hope it's legit^^
there are also normally a bunch of items that you can only craft or drop on ladder, some runewords at least.

Yes. All the Ladder Only content is now available in non-ladder & single player for D2:R, including runewords and the pandemonium event.

then again i believe some people didn't really like the addition of ladder in.. 1.10? which i heard got a lot of people to leave. I don't know if they said anything about ladder here
[Note: may be because of other 1.10 features rather than ladder also its hearsay for me cause I wasn't playing that much at that time]

yeah personally i think i really like ladder too, reset of the economy is great fresh start and try to get places in leaderboards i really like it

has there been any news on the soj requirement for diablo clone on bnet? how do they expect people to spawn diablo clone with the current soj parameters? literally impossible, not just to find that many but to get that many people to sell within the same game

isn't it a global thing and diablo spawns in some games not where the sojs were sold necessarily? thats what i thought but i never did that so far lul

been years, but as I remember it was global, and would trigger it in all servers matching a ending digit or two. Was trackable via bots. so would sell til it triggered then would spam game create til you got matching servers with as many accounts as you had to hold them open then go through sweeping them all

People know there is no way for it to work well at launch, yet people still prepay, companies still promise the moon, and the results are the same as they were over a decade ago. What is sad is that people don't learn, companies still act exactly the same, and the results are the same.

Didn't Blizzard literally say at one point that ladder wouldn't be released immediately since they wanted to make sure everything was working smoothly after launch? It's pretty clear they expected some issues.
On another note, I tried everything I could think of to get D2R running on my Mac short of partitioning it and nothing worked. It's kind of cruel, because I actually have a still-working copy of D2 from a few years ago. I don't suppose that'll be good enough, though?

Damn this game is addicting. Sucks that Blizzard did not add clans or the Guild Halls that were rumored that when D2 first released they wanted to implement.
