Usually the movie theaters allow people when the movie is available. As long as you have ticket, you can watch the movie on the opening or on the last weekend. Whenever you want. In gaming (and especially for Blizzard games), you are buying a service and somehow it is normal to assume that the service is not available in the first week. It is unthinkable to assume that the service provider will do the necessary to ensure that their service is functional. Thankfully we are dealing with a gaming service... Imagine a financial service to just fall apart for a week, because the provider saves money for infrastructure or is just incompetent. Just for context, I voted with my wallet and already refunded this.

Tha being said. No game company in the last decade has released a game as a service in which the servers worked well at all for the first week. People making excuses for them still is astonishing. This is a multiple billion dollar company and they can't even deal with server capacity when they have been advertising this for over a year. The fact that people still bother with new games as services is why they will continue to do exactly what they have done since the idea was introduced. Over promise, under deliver, and gladly take your money while laughing at their gullibility. Glad I decided nostagia should stay just that.

I'm working in a field where I deal with online services and I can assure you that downtimes and bugs during launch always happen, even in the financial sector. The technology to handle many concurrent users is very complex and very fragile thus your movie ticket analogy is not entirely correct (even though cinema can have technical difficulties they're usually not as complex as huge internet infrastructure). It's really mind boggling to see threads on the Blizz forums with titles like "Partial refund for lost time/progress?". Seriously, WTF is wrong with people? It's a game, not heart surgery...

On a side note, the g key, switching from classic to new graphics seemlesely, is a nice touch. I don't remember the game ever looking that pixelated, but I guess it was.
