The grind surely is slower now but honestly most of these things are not that game breaking and if someone is really good he'll score high no matter how much things he has unlocked. Full locked out raider sure is pretty pain in the ass to deal with but then again, this is beta and things no doubt will still change. Putting in few euros gives you cheapest boost which also gives you the lifetime VIP membership and that in turn helps you in the grind as well. The weapon grind will be reduced in the future. They are doing the same as they did with the class system. In the beginning all classes where 15k tokens each and then they gradually decreased and tweaked them. I'm guessing the same thing is going on here. Start absurdly high and tweak it down as it is a lot easier to lower the price than to increase it.

I play 90% sentinel (wanna compete and HoF is currently not worth it) and I still find the BXT1 superior. It gives me much more mobility to reposition and jumpshots. EDIT. The PR has a linear damage progression against the exponential progression of the BXT1. If you can hit consistently your DPS is higher with the PR spamming 200-300 damage shots. Edit2. If its not clear enough, you are trading DPS for mobility. If you are good with the grav bike I suppose the PR is better, but I haven't toyed around with it enough yet to confirm this.

but the sentinel so anoying if you don't got the expsive main weapon that cost 170k..... yup, the old sentinel (BTX, blaster and claymores) is still perfectly viable, especially now you can get a regen pack which is generally more useful than the drop jammer. The alt weapons let you play a more aggressive sort of sentinel, but one that to play successfully needs a crazy level of skill. the repeater pistol while good is weaker than most of the other rapid fire guns, and using the phase rifle like a quake railgun is probably the most effective use, but you need to be able to hit reliably or you're going to get smashed. The sentinel nades are also pretty decent.

edit: i see what they did, i actually like this system better TBH. i only like the brute/doombringer so i'm happy that i was able to unlock everything I need with just EXP. have 6k gold coins left (bought the $30 deal) which I will only spend on skins when they come out! looks a lot nicer IMO

The pubs I played TF2 competitively with aren't as active, so I'm very excited about Tribes.

Pretty much in the same situation as you, but I assume as it's a new game the guides just aren't out there yet. You're gonna have to be pro-active and learn a lot of stuff on your own >:D

The best way to learn the game is to play it. Just use anything with an automatic weapon and you'll be set. Anything without an automatic weapon (referred to as chainguns by vets, includes smgs and other rapid fire weapons) is pretty much useless but can be fun from time to time. I dunno, I'm starting to manage pretty reliable 100m spinfusor shots on people going over 100. Best is a planned direct hit at 384m. I know you're playing a lot of comp stuff cori and I suppose when everyone is getting massive constant air it'd be a lot more rapid fire favoured, but I wouldn't underestimate how reliable the explosive weapons can be if you practice your ass off with them. my soldier loadout is spinfusor/thumper, more for fun than serious play, but it's surprisingly effective. Again perhaps not well suited for high level play, but beginners aren't playing comp play and mastering projectile guns is a core skill for good tribes play, even if it isn't used that much in comp atm you still have to be damn good. Besides, it rewards a more cerebral style of play I'm attracted to and that I think a lot of people will come to the game wanting to experience. Being able to predict complex trajectory intersections is damn hard but incredibly rewarding when you pull it off. Rapid fire guns need just as much skill, but it's more just practice than really having to think and calculate on anything but seriously long range shots.

Personally I found the biggest boost in my skill to be brought on by watching first person VODs and replicating what they do. At least for skiing, to learn the projectile speed etc playing is the best option IMO.
