Don't think so. They have to add classes for their business model. Sooner or later there'll be snipers. In fact, there already are two, a medium armor one that isn't in the beta (it's the model used for the diamond sword guy in team select). Claymores add another layer of Base D which is always good and the sentinel is an incredibly high skillcap class. Try hitting people consistently with the pistol sometime. I'm only to the point of hitting about 20% of my shots after playing the class for two weeks.
The less hitscan in the game, the better. Getting shot by some asshole from across the map when you can't do anything about it is bad gameplay. Give the brute claymores and voila, no need for sentinel while making the brute useful. Maybe they won't remove classes due to their retarded business model, but they should nerf hitscan into the ground. Make the sniper use energy with each shot or decrease the damage or something.
Posted this elsewhere as well, but I don't know why they deviated from the sniper rifle mechanic from T1/T2, it was perfect and there was no need to try and reinvent the wheel.
Sigh, I would really want to play this game but I don't have the money to preorder and can't find a spare beta key anywhere. Guess I'll have to hope they send me one or wait for open beta.

I agree about the hitscan, but I don't understand how people use the sniper to illustrate their point. To get a full power shot, you have to charge it, just like you had to have full energy in T1/2 to get a full shot with the laser rifle and from what I've seen, the damage is pretty comparable.
I 100% agree about the assault rifle/smg shit though, it's way too easy in close range compared to other weps. They have to either remove them altogether, nerf them, or change the default classes so that people new to Tribes don't automatically jump on hitscan weapons and ignore all the projectile-based ones that make Tribes what it is.
You should've been spamming VSAF (assuming ascend has vsaf) at the beginning of your route to let the guy know to try his completely worthless 20kmh grab a different time, totally not his fault!
Video made me laugh, llama grabs are really pretty infuriating after you've set up a good cap route.
i have 2.13 duo core, nvidia 9600, 4 gigs or ram only time it slows down is when i'm in one corner of the map and look at the opposite corner. even when there's 10 people around shooting at everyone, no problems at all

on a side note, shrike capping on katabatic is retardedly broken right now until they fix it. ejecting out the shrike sends me flying at 300, + disc jump i can make it all the way back to base without touching the ground >_>

Game in general is broken atm
Public play is fun of course, but any notion of competitive play is totally out of the window atm
Yeah, I lolled the first time I got that stat. I think they should up it to 300 though, I think it kicks in at 200km/h which is pretty average now, it used to be super high.
