Depends on your playstyle, but generally I find only the rifle any mandatory.
If you sit near the flag a lot (as opposed to being a roamer/chaser type sniper) then getting Claymore +10% range and then Safety Third (for another 10% +1 carry) is pretty decent. Safety Third comes in handy for almost every other class too, so it's a decent investment.
Falcon is great.
I haven't found anything else to be particularly worthwhile because +100 hp won't really stop you from being one/two-shotted, for instance, and the +10 energy is only marginally noticeable. You can really just save your exp for other stuff (I've been saving up for Pathfinder stuff) and revisit Sent later I think.
T5 grenades are the worst unlock ever. Should've just saved for the falcon.
I wish they fixed the Nova Blaster though. Half the time I'm certain nothing is coming out when I'm firing. Or if not, atleast give a proper reticle for the SR.
Been wondering if the energy pack is worth anything for sentinel if you don't have the phase rifle? Probably not.

Idk, I've been thinking about getting it just because the gen is down so often that the drop jammer often serves me no purpose at all but it's probably not worth it

It's totally worth it. The benefit of the BXT rifle is you can move around and stay mobile while sniping. Epack just helps that role so much.
The longer I play the more I get the feeling that most pathfinders switch to crossbow. Is it really simply better than the spinfusor? To my knowledge the aoe radius and dmg are bigger and the rate of fire is lower? I got the armor and belt upgrades and bought egocentric, now I'm trying to figure out whether I want to upgrade the spinfusor or buy the crossbow.

The aoe is the same as the spinfusor. Just the damage is higher and the aoe lower. It also feels like the projectile size is smaller (I'm not 100% on this one). The crossbow also has an arc which you have to get used to. The crossbow really shines when you do one stand D and chasing. For capping the spinfusor is generally better because of lower self damage. I know some people still use the spinfusor for chasing because they hit better with it. Comes down to play style really.

Okay thanks, seems like I had some things confused there..
Btw, I'm using impact nitro to gain speed, not the spinfusor.

Yeah, the impact nitron is good for chasing, but for setting up routes, you can squeeze in an extra boost with the spinfusor if you do it right. Also you regen a little faster if you double nitron, disc for the setup since you are left with more health. Using the spinfusor over the bolt can mean 100 more health when hitting the flag on some routes.
For really fast routes you have to use spinfusor as well as all your nitrons. I really liked the bolt launcher when I first bought it... it does 910 dmg for a direct hit I think, and the projectile seems to go faster than spinfusor. I don't see myself switching back, it's just so much better for killing shit imo. I haven't even noticed that it has a smaller AoE O-o

The aoe isnt smaller, the poster above most likely meant to say that the rate of fire is lower.
