XCOM: Complete Edition 9,89€ The Stanley Parable 4,79€ Metro Last Light 6,79€ Faster Than Light 3,99€ Mass Effect 1+2 6,99€ Batman Arkam Origins 6,99€ Dvinity: Dragon Commander 9,99€ The Swapper 2,79€ For a total of 52,22€. So far I've played about half of those games. I've spent about 3 hours in The Stanley Parable. It's difficult to describe because this is not really a game but more of an art exhibit about gaming or maybe a philosophical debate about decision making in gaming. It was a really fun experience and I'd recommend it if it goes on sale again, not for full price though as you won't spend more than a few hours with it and the only thing you do is walking around and listening to the narrator. The Swapper is a great game. I've installed it yesterday, started playing it and only stopped playing after I finished it about 4 hours later. It's a puzzle platformer with some interesting game mechanics (making clones of yourself and switching positions with these clones) with a great atmosphere and story and a little bit of philosophy about the thing we call 'soul'. Great experience overall, recommended even for full price, definitely if it goes on sale. I will play it some more to 100% it as I somehow have missed every single secret room in the game and a few of the logs that tell part of the story as well. Best game of the ones I've played so far. Metro Last Light has been good so far as well. Only played about 2 hours into it but it is as atmospheric and dark and grim as the books. I haven't played enough of it for a final judgment yet though. Mass Effect 1 was the only disappointment yet. 3 hours into it I'm asking myself if I will play it any further. The story is interesting but the mechanics are rather boring (as fighting seems slow to me, a lot of walking around and not doing anything and in the fights controlling you squad is annoying). Not sure if that gets any better later in the game. But the biggest problem for me is the tedious dialog. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the German version of the game but all the dialog in the game seems disconnected. There are huge pauses between different characters talking and even when one character switches the subject he is talking about there is a pause. It sounds a lot like the voice actors weren't talking to each other but just recorded there own stuff and then it was badly cut together. I'll try switching to the English version and see if it's better there and I'll try to play some more to get further into the game where I can really start customizing my crew etc. Maybe the game gets more fun then. Edit: oh, I also got Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena and the Escape from Butcher Bay remake on gog.com during their sale. Played through Butcher Bay, loved it. It feels a lot like the first movie Pitch Black (still the best in the franchise), it's grim and dark, a brutal world. Riddick is one of the most interesting characters in Sci-Fi in my opinion and the game represented him very well, also Vin Diesel being the voice actor in the games as well is awesome. The game mechanics were fun even though they got a bit repetitive towards the end and the story was exactly what I expected and wanted from a Riddick game. Mass Effect in the english version has great voice acting on both genders (I prefer the female voice actor over the male, but your mileage may vary). Also, Mass effect 1 has a great story, good immersion into the world, and interesting NCPs. Many of your decisions have a lasting impact (up to the final game in the triology) and are meaningful in the game world. Fighting/movement mechanics and the UI are not very good though, and the item/inventory system is a mess (Combat and Items have been vastly improved in the second game) . Basically, you play the game for the story, the characters and the dialog, in this area Mass Effect 1 is probably one of the best games in the last 10 years. concerning the running around, this will still happen in the later game, although once you get off the citadel again, most locations are more straight forward to explore. If you don't like the running, you will probably hate the Mako that comes later in the game (vehicle to explore the planets).

One of the best purchases has been Xcom (had the vanilla previously) and with the expansion + long war mod I've already managed to go over double the initial play time I had with the game, if they keep up the good job with the mod it will last for long time to come. Other good stuff that I enjoyed from the sale was Mortal Kombat (haven't played fighting games in a while, though I do own SF4AE and did play with some friends) which despite feeling clunky at few points and having a proper silly early 90's story was overall quite fun, though I don't know if I'll be playing it that much into future. Then Company of Heroes 2, which I heard had received some flak from comparisons to the first one and imbalances especially since the expansion hit, it was pleasant surprise. Initially I disliked games like it because DoW2 was such a let down, but during recent years I started to enjoy them to some point by playing Elite Mod for DoW2:Retribution, which still had some annoying things like the kill animations screwing up chases and alike but it was definately vastly improved compared to vanilla. I did pick up some smaller games and also the some which I had been avoiding for a long time (Skyrim and Dark Souls), the smaller ones have varied from pretty fun to barely mediocre, it was mostly what I had been expecting though. Right now I don't know if I'm just bad or if my computer can't handle Dark Souls, but it feels super clunky. Even with controller and very careful turning it seems like sometimes the character wants to pull 90 degree or more turn and swing to wall. Oh well, stocked up for a while.

Gameplay-wise, ME1 is the weakest in the series, though it does have a few elements that I liked over the others. The early levels on the Citadel are indeed fairly boring, and the sidequests afterwards are unbelievable repetitive (many levels are literally identical other than some doodads and enemies), but the main quests are more interesting. Even if it's not that enjoyable, I'd still say that it's worth completing the main quests for the sake of getting to 2 and 3, which are hugely better games. The combat is substantially improved in 2 and refined even further in 3. The story also really picks up during the final levels of 1 and the next two games. As for the dialogue, I can't speak for the German version, but I quite liked the English version. It seemed as if the 1st game used different recording equipment or something, because even voice actors who still voice the same characters sound slightly different, Jennifer Hale (femshep) especially. The dialogue early on is kind of stilted and awkward because it's trying to introduce you to all the lore, making a lot of your interaction with characters "like reading an encyclopedia," as someone put it.

ME3 and specially ME2 were corridor shooters if you like those then i guess you can say they were better games but if you like RPG games you will get dissapointed by how barebones are both of them compared to ME1, i was REALLY dissapointed with them, ME3 was better but still ME1 was league aheads Still, thats not to say they are bad games, because they are not and they are among the best games out there, its just that i hated how they striped down ME2 and 3 RPG elements And can someone sell me Broforce ? its 10 bucks right now, worth it ?

I did miss the "hub zones" in ME2 and (to a greater extent) 3. 2 was okay, but each zone only had so much to do in it. The citadel was different in ME1 almost every time around.

I guess some of the combat can be a bit repetivitve ish, since it is a FPS game, but the atmosphere etc just makes it real fun. Probably about 15-20 hours ish for the main story mode, I imagine much more with the second playthrough / side quests. Yet to venture into the DLCs. Yeah about ME1, I just really didn't enjoy the combat / gameplay. Just stopped me from getting into the game at all, but might be a bit of a personal preference thing as well.

And then quickly forget about ME2 and 3 where they butchered the Reapers.

The gameplay is still boring though. I'll probably just rush through the main story and ignore all side missions because the story is great. It's just not very fun to play the game :/ It's similar to Bioshock Infinite in that regard, that was a game were the gameplay (the shooting) was just bad and really boring but the story was so great that it got me through the game.

I won't spoil anything, but the two extremes were always contrasting to have you weigh out the repercussions of morality and perception of "good"/"bad" My problem with ME morality is that Paragon is almost always the smarter choice, and one that a commander would do. This is especially apparent in 3 where + Show Spoiler + Renegade chooses quite frequently to wipe out large swaths of the forces you're supposed to be gathering. Especially in the Quarian/Geth missions. Getting both is just flat out superior for the goal of stopping the reapers, letting one die off completely would always leave you with the inferior force.
