I still have too much stuff to play from the last sale though.. like skyrim, fallout, far cry 3, the witcher 2.. i know they are great games but i cant find the excitement to play them. While Mount & Blade is the best find ever i love that game. I can't get over how amazing Mount & Blade Warbands is. Like seriously why are more people not talking about this game. No time to post about it cuz they are too addicted to the game A friend of mine has more than 300 h clocked in Mount and Blade. It's the tits apparently and has been for years. I have it but never got around actually playing. No time unfortunately. I got 100 hours the first week. At 550ish currently. <.<

bought:
bioshock collection tomb raider metro last light pack farcry 3

I didn't buy anything this Summer Sale ): I was thinking of Age of Mythology, but it vanished before I could pounce. Portal 2 and L4D2 for my friend as well was under consideration.
|
Snatched up a couple more games before the sale ended. So in total, got: - Mount and Blade: Warband - Typing of the Dead - Capsized - Strider
Definitely the sale I spent the least amount of money on so far but still happy with what I got. Disappointed Strider never went lower, maybe I missed a flash sale/community choice for it lol.

Didnt buy anything too this time. Got 60+ games and have played less than 10 games.
When I will play through most of my games they I can afford to buy cheap games on the next sale.
Will be hard when mostly im playing Dota....

It's not a big deal anyway. All this stuff will be three times as cheap during next year's summer sale!

It's a good thing you didn't buy, it's apparently a waste of money. source: the AoM/AoT hub known as rtss

I only bought CSGO this summer sales, finally bought it after my friends have been playing it for so long. Been to busy with BF4 during that time
CSGO is a hard game. So hard.

Well yeah, considering rounds only last a couple of minutes and you respawn at the beginning of each new round..

How long before Shovel Knight goes on sale? (yes I know it was released just a few days ago). Saw Day 9 play some of it last Friday and it looked good enough as I'm into the "feel of the classic games" to want to get, but probably not at that price right now
|
How long does it usually take new games to go on sales? Considering Shovel Knight was kickstarted for 10$ over a year ago, I doubt they'll have a sale below that price anytime soon, and most likely not for a few months.
I guess the Steam autumn sale is your best bet. On another note, the game is really fun, and they still have some more content on the way from the stretch goals.

Shovel Knight its AMAZING, Game of the year contender already for me, played it on WiiU, already on my second playtrough and feel like will tray to speed run it or so many times
get it, at $15 its a steal IMO, sure its somewhat short (5 hours on my first, but could be a lot more if you look for everything) but its VERY GOOD, cant wait for challenge & battle modes, so is playing with bosses
get it, NOW

Not a value buy. Or you might just not appreciate it. I personally love it, it's great. It's definitely not 10 hours of gameplay, but you'll have a couple hours of fun if you're looking for some witty entertainment, especially when it was on sale. Highly praised by many. yea but I could get more fun out of playing a free adventure game on miniclip

So here's a recap of the Summer Sales this year for me. First a list of the games I bought this time. XCOM: Complete Edition 9,89€ The Stanley Parable 4,79€ Metro Last Light 6,79€ Faster Than Light 3,99€ Mass Effect 1+2 6,99€ Batman Arkam Origins 6,99€ Dvinity: Dragon Commander 9,99€ The Swapper 2,79€
For a total of 52,22€.
So far I've played about half of those games. I've spent about 3 hours in The Stanley Parable. It's difficult to describe because this is not really a game but more of an art exhibit about gaming or maybe a philosophical debate about decision making in gaming. It was a really fun experience and I'd recommend it if it goes on sale again, not for full price though as you won't spend more than a few hours with it and the only thing you do is walking around and listening to the narrator.
The Swapper is a great game. I've installed it yesterday, started playing it and only stopped playing after I finished it about 4 hours later. It's a puzzle platformer with some interesting game mechanics (making clones of yourself and switching positions with these clones) with a great atmosphere and story and a little bit of philosophy about the thing we call 'soul'. Great experience overall, recommended even for full price, definitely if it goes on sale. I will play it some more to 100% it as I somehow have missed every single secret room in the game and a few of the logs that tell part of the story as well. Best game of the ones I've played so far.
Metro Last Light has been good so far as well. Only played about 2 hours into it but it is as atmospheric and dark and grim as the books. I haven't played enough of it for a final judgment yet though.
Mass Effect 1 was the only disappointment yet. 3 hours into it I'm asking myself if I will play it any further. The story is interesting but the mechanics are rather boring (as fighting seems slow to me, a lot of walking around and not doing anything and in the fights controlling you squad is annoying). Not sure if that gets any better later in the game. But the biggest problem for me is the tedious dialog. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the German version of the game but all the dialog in the game seems disconnected. There are huge pauses between different characters talking and even when one character switches the subject he is talking about there is a pause. It sounds a lot like the voice actors weren't talking to each other but just recorded there own stuff and then it was badly cut together. I'll try switching to the English version and see if it's better there and I'll try to play some more to get further into the game where I can really start customizing my crew etc. Maybe the game gets more fun then.
Edit: oh, I also got Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena and the Escape from Butcher Bay remake on gog.com during their sale. Played through Butcher Bay, loved it. It feels a lot like the first movie Pitch Black (still the best in the franchise), it's grim and dark, a brutal world. Riddick is one of the most interesting characters in Sci-Fi in my opinion and the game represented him very well, also Vin Diesel being the voice actor in the games as well is awesome. The game mechanics were fun even though they got a bit repetitive towards the end and the story was exactly what I expected and wanted from a Riddick game.

I bought it a couple sales ago but I agree, I loved this game. It was nice to have guns as a special thing for some missions, the hand to hand combat was really fun.
