get the witcher 2 right now, for 4 dollars you get a disscount on Witcher 3, that alone makes it worth it
you get a 10% off by having both witcher games, that adds up to 6 bucks, not much but its Witcher 2 "free"

Roughly ~445$ for 1 copy of every game listed including multiple serials for bundles(like GTA bundle) and about 15 extra copies of specific games. The save amount was me estimating what it would cost if there was a console version of said games that are PC exclusive. That also includes extra copies of games I bought and gave away to friends, like Payday I bought roughly 8 copies of because it was $1.50.

Heres a total from literally todays edition of Gamestop.com used games, I only used PS3 prices unless it was only on xbox 360/one, I also didn't include any PC exclusives(like Indie Games, etc.) unless they specifically had a PS/Xbox Entry. It came to a total of $610 for literally almost 50% of the titles I was able to purchase =D:
Borderlands 2(non-goty) Call of Duty WAW Call of Juarez:Gunslinger Castle Crashers Red Alert 3 DMC 3 DMC 4 Dynasty Warriors Extreme Legends 8 Farcry 3 Only GTA4+2 DLCS Hotline Miami Injustice: Gods Among us Ultimate Edition Just Cause 2 Last Remnant Metro last Light(just base game no dlc) Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition MX vs ATX Reflex Payday the Heist Payday 2 Portal 2 Sims 3 Sleeping Dogs SNiper Elite V2 Sonic all Stars Racing Transformed Force UNleashed Sith Edition Sup Com 2 Terraria Splinter Cell Black List Brutual legends Jade Empire(base game) Overlord Raising Hell
So in other words, I saved 200 bucks roughly and got ~31+ more titles =D. PC gaming > Console Gaming any day of the week. I was a little surprised at how cheap some of these was, but that is easily dwarfed by some other ones. Star Wars Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith Edition was still $35 dollars for a used copy! A used copy of Dynasty Warriors Extreme Legends 8 was $55!!!
PC game buying can be very cheap, but there are a ton of options for getting cheap console games that people just ignore when making these inflationary comparisons. For instance, both the still expensive games you point to are significantly cheaper new on amazon than used at Gamestop.
Other options that are always ignored in comparisons are renting games (I played Last of Us extremely cheap through Red Box right after it came out), getting used games from places other than Gamestop, waiting for compilations to come out, or getting a temporary subscription to Gamefly (with a promotion for the first month) when you have an especially large amount of free time ahead. I did the last of these moves twice back in the day, each time playing 6-8 recent games for cheaper than I could have possibly gotten from a steam sale.
Services like PS plus can also be pretty good deals. Not saying it ends up being cheaper than PC, but people need to stop comparing the most expensive ways to console game to the cheapest ways to PC game.
Last question for you lovely folk here at TL. I'm thinking about picking up both State of Decay and XCOM Enemy Unknown. I like zombie games, I like survival, State of Decay sounds like it could be pretty fun do to the "semi" survival/build your town up/get resources, yet what are the downsides of the game? I think I read somewhere that your world goes on even if you aren't playing?
XCOM, to be fair I know jack shit about. I've seen a lot of people playing it on streams and I just watched part of a "Let's play" video. Is it really difficult to get into? If it's anything like Final fantasy tactics with the strategy / different classes / turn based battles I'm sure I'd like it.
Sooo.
Pros/Cons of State of Decay? Pros/Cons of XCOM Enemy Unknown? (Also, why the heck does steam minimum recommend 20gigs for this game, is it really that indepth/massive?

Nothing personal I just had some time so I priced it out on amazon. They didn't even have the selection gamestop did. This is also just what ever price came up first as opposed to going to the list of sellers because of the Amazon Prime option. You can save ~40$ by signing up it or using a trial. You're still paying ~520$ for 25 games.
Borderlands 2(non-goty) Call of Duty WAW Red Alert 3 DMC 3 DMC 4 Dynasty Warriors Extreme Legends 8 Farcry 3 Only GTA4+2 DLCS Injustice: Gods Among us Ultimate Edition Just Cause 2 Last Remnant Metro last Light(just base game no dlc) Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition MX vs ATX Reflex Payday 2 Portal 2 Sims 3 Sleeping Dogs SNiper Elite V2 Sonic all Stars Racing Transformed Force UNleashed 1 Sup Com 2 Terraria Splinter Cell Black List Brutual legends Jade Empire Overlord Raising Hell =$567.81, can possibly save about 38.72 on shipping if you use a Amazon Prime Trial/pay $80 for the subscription.
Steam:~77 copies of games(including double licenses) - $450(excluding active internet connection)
Amazon: ~25 single games - $525-567(depending on Amazon Prime offerings + not including psplus/xbox gold for multiplayer features on some games)
Gamestop ~30 games - $610(excluding gas from go to store to store + not including psplus/xbox gold for multiplayer features on some games)
Its not really inflammatory as much as fact......sure if you scrounge EVERY single website you may get a deal even better then the "deals" on amazon/gamestop but once you factor in shipping its still...bad. Really bad. Granted the collection of downloadable games is growing for consoles, it still is incredibly small. Plus the average person won't switch out their HDDs for a larger sized one, only enthusiasts.
Subscriptions services like red box(due to paying rental fees), gamefly, playstation plus/xbox gold really still aren't worth it. For sure any game you receive for "free" under playstation plus requires you to keep your subscription to purchase it. Quoted directly from Sony's website: *Active membership required to access games and other PS Plus features and benefits.* (http://us.playstation.com/playstation-plus/ at the bottom) Also same for xbox gold: "For paid Gold members only; Active Gold membership required to play downloaded Xbox One games. Kinect and/or hard drive required for some games. Some restrictions apply. " (http://support.xbox.com/en-US/my-account/xbox-live-membership/live-faq?icid=furl_livefaq again down at the bottom) So even those "free" games that you're really paying for with part of your subscription fee aren't free. They still require you to pay each month like an MMO.
They are only worthwhile for the games you want to play but don't care about owning. However, I'd still rather buy it on steam lump sum(with some games costing as much as a 1 time rental fee would cost from red box) and play at my leisure and enjoy mods that come out(sometimes years after the game has been released) then rush through it because I only have the license as long as I pay my time "fee".
Again i hope this doesn't come across as a personal attack to you, but in the end it truly is cheapest on steam even including "the cheapest sources of console games" versus GoG/Green Man Gaming/Steam. There is nothing inflammatory about it at all, it just is fact.

Not sure on State of Decay, but XCOM is really good. It's a bit like FFT, they are both tactical turn based games, but the feel can be really diferent. It's not absurdly hard unless you play Ironman and/or hardest difficulty and it's fairly simple to understand the basics. The main diference from something like FFT is that it's more about moving as a squad and covering each other than simply fighting the other side in an open battlefield.

Yes, especially if you enjoy Supreme Commander style RTS but expanded to include multiple planets. UI can get a little hard to use at times though.

Take what I say with a grain of salt but State of Decay so far(im about 1 hour 1/2 into it) seems like your standard Zombie survival experience. Its like a lower quality third person dead island. You have a safe house area that you do quests for to "zombie proof" it and get supplies. But with a more GTA style focused combat and from what ive seen thus far no Multiplayer only single player(even though you'll have the option of bringing A.I.s along). Though the graphics imo are not that great even taking into account it was released like year and a half/2 years ago.

For what it's worth, I've made a profit on nearly every physical copy of a console game I've played since I bought my first system two years ago. If you put a little elbow grease into it and don't care about maintaining a shelf full of games, you can go infinite pretty easily.
That's one of the reasons I've cut back drastically on buying games on PC - even if a game is "just" $5 or $2.50 or whatnot, it's still a permanent investment that will never appreciate in value.

Based on what you've said, you'd probably like both of them. I think the biggest drawback to State of Decay is that it's pretty janky, both technically and design-wise in parts, but as far as zombie survival goes, it'll be great. XCOM isn't all that deep (at least the vanilla version; I've never played Enemy Within), but it's competent enough.

I'd be surprised to see if you really made a profit on most physical games . Is it because you use craigs list/ebay to sell them after you play them or...? Sounds like a lot of work too be honest, way more then I'd like to put in . It seems it just differs whether you don't want to keep the game after you "complete" it or if you want to keep it forever. But the initial pricing on either is still in PC's favor even with no trade ins. And that is really only no trade ins on steam games, if you buy a qualifying game from Green Man Gaming there is a trade-in option.

Let's be honest here: GMG's trade-in program is irrelevant. Almost all games that people are going to want to buy from there are going to be Steam or Origin codes, not copies tied to their DRM client.
And yeah, I get rid of games I don't intend to keep in the near future at wherever I can extract maximum value. It's far cheaper to preorder games (especially with Best Buy offering preorders of $60 new releases for the equivalent of ~$40), sell whatever preorder bonuses they come with, then trade/sell in the game within a week or two of release for $40+. Even if I genuinely want to keep a copy for the collection, it won't be hard to find a cheaper copy down the line; I can wait.
(For an out of the ordinary example, I preordered Wolfenstein: The New Order on 360 during a b2g1 promotion for $33, with a preorder bonus of $26 back. I sold the game on eBay that week for $45 after fees and shipping for a total profit of $38.)
Amnesia: Dark Descent Walking Dead season 1 Skyrim The Stanley Parable Spec ops the line Brothers Counterstrike Global Offensive Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Tropico 4 Baldurs Gate 2 The Swapper
Bought way more than I'd thought but still happy about the purchases except for Spec ops which sucks.
So if it wasn't for steam sales, my steam account would cost more then 3500$. Luv ya steam sales. Anyway, this summer I bought : FEAR State of Decay XCOM DLC Child of Light Metro: Last Night

xcom is very easy to get into, it strangely installs the expansion as a standalone, which doubles the HD space.
