I just don't game like I once did... (and when I have time I usually focus SC2 or something super casual/quick like FTL).
That said, I'd like to make one purchase this summer... (even though I still have several "must have" games from last year that have never been installed...)
So, thinking of spending my wallet on Witcher 2 (loved the first) BG(ee) (again enjoyed the origina) Skyrim (maybe I'm the one that's taken an arrow to the knee) or something else I might be overlooking?

I'd highly recommend Witcher 2 Skyrim is pretty solid choice you can burn tons of of hours into that game and for 5$ I can guarantee you'll get your moneys worth if you find the time to play it...
I've realllyyy cut my spending down on this years sale. I have easily 20+ games bought from the last sale that I have never installed once so I wanted to avoid that this year.
Right now I'm debating on
XCOM Tomb Raider Civ5 State of decay
I wanted to get DayZ but it never went on sale, except first day for like 15% which left it still way to pricey for me to justify buying a game at that stage in development...

God this steal sale sucked, I only got like 50+ games for cheap, bastards. I expected way more
/sarcasm

X-Com is worth it. very enjoyable game
|
hmhmhm... think i'm gona buy farcry blood dragon, Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider before it's too late :I
|
I barely bought anything this sale lol, just Mount and Blade: Warband, and Typing of the Dead. I still got so many games in my backlog anyways, and not much spare cash this time around.
With XCOM on sale again though I definitely would recommend it if you are into strategy games.
|
So this ended up being my purchases, I think that that will be enough.
Shadowrun Returns and Dragonfall Planetary Annihilation Batman Arkham Origins Mount & Blade: Warband Adventures of Shuggy Cook, Serve, Delicious! Ultrabundle Shovel Knight (Not technically on sale but completely worth it) The Blackwell Legacy

I cannot recommend Xcom enough, it's a fantastic game. I was in a similar situation than you,but i played it in ironman and honestly it's been a long time since i have been that involved into a game. Ironman means that you cant reload a past save if things are not going your way, it's brutal but extremely rewarding.

xcom is indeed a nice game, they made a very good turn based tactical squad combat game while keeping the rules very simple.

If you don't own Bioshock 1 and 2 look into the triple pack instead of just infinite. When I bought it earlier in the sale it was 7.50 for Infinite and like 10.20 for all 3

Putting in my added support for XCOM. It's pretty difficult, especially if the RNG decides to screw you over, but it's relatively easy to learn despite the fact that it can be initially overwhelming.
Lots of fun, tactical squad combat. Good stuff.

Hmms came away with Borderlands 2 X-Com complete Payday 2 FTL Monaco
All for the price of about 3 cocktails in London
Still thinking about Shadowrun Returns and Baldurs Gate 2, but they both have a fair few negative reviews on Steam so I'll sleep on it.

Just played Metal Gear Rising Revengeance for a bit. Shits fun as hell, its like action porn. They could improve the tutorial though, took forever to realize the importance of parrying certain enemies. Definitely worth it for 15$

I skiped the second part but had some fun with the first. iirc, the last part was getting boring and i just rushed to the end. But that's not the game's fault. Time is rare, so i have to make some cuts :/ Thanks for the tip though.

I'm curious what Arkham game I should get I remember reading that Arkham Orgins isn't as good as the others. If someone could give me advice on what game is the best out of all of them I would appreciate it.

Arkham Asylum is a bit more linear, while Arkham City has a more open world, with more side-quests and stuff where you jump around the city. I don't think either of them is much better than the other, and I have around the same time on both of them, without doing much of the extra stuff. They are pretty similar games overall.

My buddy who has played all of them says that in his opinion Arkham Asylum is the best one. They're all still really good, its just that Asylum has the edge. Which is why its the only Arkham game I bought :o
