Hey guys, I've been rather busy the last week. I'm going to start back up on runs and see if I can manage to put together a winstreak before this tourny is over.
Crate, your SpEn run has me speechless. 9 runes in 38k turns just seems impossibly fast to me. Congratulations on an amazing job.

Well I'd already done the same thing in 48k turns before, and I had better luck with items this time around (except not getting much teleportation), so it wasn't terribly hard.

If we can get one more win before the tournament ends I think we'll lock up 5th place. We have a cushion of about 300 points right now over the 6th place team, so unless they get at least two wins we'll probably stay ahead, but I'd like to make that a bit bigger to be safe.

Im pretty burned out and keep shooting myself in the foot, but am hoping to get another extended game runner to get a good chunk of unique kill points.

Well I can probably win this SEIE I have going since apparently I can cast simulacrum and I'm not even at the end of lair yet (and simulacrum gets you like 2.5 runes and the orb by itself, it's sickeningly good) so unless I screw up we should have this. It'll grab us a Kiku win too, which somehow we do not have yet.

Won the SEIE, if you guys can grab some more runes or a win we have this locked up. Right now we have about a 500 point lead over the 6th place team, which is enough to keep us in 5th if they win once, but things will get dicey if they grab a second win before the tournament ends. On the other hand they might not have time to finish up even if they get some promising characters going, since there are less than 3 days left now.

Quick question:
Worth it for a melee-only char to cure the "badly fitting armour because of weirdly shaped body"-mutation. I have two curemut potions atm. XL 27 and at Zot:1. I am obviously a noob.

Usually not, it costs you at most 7 AC (and that's with crystal plate). Usually it will cost you 5 AC or less. That's not that big a deal at the end of the game

Now I've also got some sweet scales from an orb of fire.
Another noob question. I have found only crappy weapons all game. I am currently rocking a +5/+3 great mace of flaming. I have a +0/+2 Demon Whip of Pain (but no necromancy) and an unbranded +2/+2 Demon Whip and no vorpalize weapon scrolls. Plenty of enchants tho. Wondering if I should enchant the great mace or try one of the demon whips for endgame.
Currently in Zot:3, doing decently. Three runes. I could probaby go clear out Slime looking for a weapon, I have both rMut and rCorr and +5 GDA. Also I left Elf:5 since it seemed pretty crappy. Try to find something better?

It's pretty unlikely you'll accrue enough bad mutations that you'll need both pots anyways, especially if you have rMut for orbs of fire. So you might as well make use of the resources you have available.

Anyone looking for a sick roguelike should play Sil -- really stripped-down Angband fork that is totally different than anything I've played in forever. HP is tied to CON, not to level, and there is a huge depth in gameplay related to skilltrees and a whole bunch of other stuff. It's simply gorgeous.

ok my final game (red DrIE) of the tourney is looking good for extended, with rF+++, rC+++, rN+++, 270 HP, ~30 AC and EV with buffs, and a +9 blessed triple sword ft. maxed fighting and long blades skills. I've cleared Zot and am ready to go Abyss -> Pan -> Hell. I am ready to kill dudes with my angel bros.
Also, boots of running.
update - spamming freezing cloud from a rod of ice got me a rune from hellion island, then killed the 4 pan lords despite mistakes (my buffness gives room for error). Cerebov nearly killed me twice (7 hp at one point - standing in a firestorm) but on the 3rd attempt he sat there while two daevas and I put on the haste beatdown. I'm all set to do hells.

Well that's it, I won a CeHe (which is probably the easiest Nemelex's Choice combo in the history of these tournaments) and I'm going to wrap up my tournament participation with that. I go out on a streak just like I started on a streak, and we have an 800 point cushion over Horrible Failures for 5th place team, which ought to hold up over the last 1 and 3/4 of a day left in the tournament.
Elyvilon is disgustingly overpowered, you can play so tremendously badly and it doesn't matter because you have basically infinite potions of heal wounds at your disposal, not to mention a berserk-level HP boost on-demand and a smite-targeted instant-kill ability. Centaur just makes it even better since you can run away from everything to abuse your healing even more.

ajskfas first time i did well with a caster. deep elf wizard i cleared lair and orc with. dabbled around till d15 i think and then decided to do a bit of snake since i had high poison resist.
first few steps a black mamba and norris show up, he paralyzes me and the mamba kills me.
geez evrything went so well. had haste, could blast anything away with fireball/orb of destruction, evrything nice. meh <.<

13 runed the DrIE. Killed every lord except antaeus (no regen means no fighting him in rounds). Hasted angels own pretty much everything. I couldn't be bothered with Tomb or Slime.
We're a good ways ahead of 6th place, but a good ways behind 4th, so I think TL is a sure 5th.

oh and the biggest point: constriction is bugged in .10. if you get grabbed by anyone, simply hammer '<' or '>', even if you're not on stairs - you'll break constriction without using a turn.

Come up a couple times. But is there a way to swing at a suspected invisible monster without having to move to the location if it isn't there?
I know it would have been handy a few times to be able to just sit there waving my dagger at the air until he walked into it. xD
