Overall it was much easier to shot people down, and I was not dying nearly as much from being one shotted by an invisible sniper, made the game less frustrating. I guess all the big outfits are on miller so that's why it's really hard to play there as a lone wolf. I also hoped it in a random galaxy that was being repaired by a group of engineer. We created a sqaud spent 1hour flying around, killing ennemy vanu flying units/taking objective/taking down ground units before going down, it was really epic. After that a guy stayed with me and helped defend one of the big ground base (the one with fortification). I really felt as though we were defending Minas Tirith against waves of orcs, was really awesome as well. This game can be amazing, however they do need to make the learning curve much easier if they want to make it work in the long run. I still feel that their unlock system is way to slow though, I played something around 10 hours on one character, and I can barely unlock anything, it really doesn't feel rewarding at all on that aspect.

The problem is that obviously a lot of people are confused about what is actually going on, and just rush in and shoot. Some facilities, as a result, are incredibly difficult to capture. The research facility at the top of the snow map for example, is a pain in the ass, because the giant facility just lures in all the idiots who proceed to camp the central forcefields, rather than capture the areas around it. They should create a better in-game tutorial, perhaps just auto-start a short text/audio tutorial when you enter a zone, giving players a quick rundown of how they need to capture the facility. So far mostly playing light/medic. Need to figure out where I'm going to drop most of my certi-points. I used to play infiltrator, but I don't really seem to like it in this version.

Its all good if there ARE ways to play, but if it is impossible to get into without google or forums for somebody who has been gaming their entire life and has played several different game genre's at semicompetitive level it doesnt sound very good for people who maybe only play a couple hours a week and dont have a clue what to do or how to get help. I posted the screenshot before, but there is a big "Get started" button right above the play button in the launcher. I don't know how much more handholding you expect. "Press Left Mousebutton to shoot things" pop-up whenever you hover your mouse cursor over an enemy? + Show Spoiler + ![]() Except for some base capture mechanics (Biodomes...), everything else is straight forward: You shoot things with a red triangle over their head and try not to shoot those with a blue triangle. When you die, you have a list of places to respawn and it shows the locations and a big skull for the place where you got killed so you know how far away you will spawn. I think that thing even has a tutorial screen in-game. At somepoint you stumble over some terminal with a tank symbol on it and hey, you get tanks there, great. It took me about 3 minutes to figure enough out to have fun and the only time i was thinking "How the hell do i do that?" was when i was assaulting a biodome for the first time. At the start you don't even need to know about vehicles and stuff, that comes naturally over time. I didn't visit the forums until shortly before release and i play since a few month (when galaxys still were the only mobile spawns). The only thing i watched before (and mostly after) i started playing was some event livestream from TotalBiscuit where they didn't really explain anything and only showed off the nice landscapes and pretty explosions. If people can't understand how the basics of the game work, it's because they refuse to try for some reason - probably because others told them "It's too complex and poorly explained and stuff", making them think "I won't be able to understand it anyways". It is less complex than games like LoL and there are millions of casuals there. It's also a great game for casuals, sometimes i just log in for half an hour, spawn a reaver and go hunting for Scythe and Mosquitos until i get shot down or fly into some mountain that moved into my flightpath, then i log out again but still feel like i accomplished something. Most of the times i log in, i don't even join a squad, i just look on the map for a place where stuff seems to be happening and go there and shoot things while watching a SC2 or LoL tournament on the other screen. However, i agree on the performance problem. My ancient rig gets 30 FPS when i'm at the warpgate staring at the ground, 20 in a decently sized battle (~50 people on each side) and 10 in some huge battles. It makes shooting stuff harder but then again, your opponents probably have the same performance so they have the same problem shooting you. It never detracted from the fun i had. Reaver dumbfire rockets, lock-on missiles, liberator anti-tank weapon, tank secondary weapons, etc. The only infantry weapons i found useful were: - Lock-on Missile Launcher against Air for the Heavy Infantry (Extremely useful when defending a position). - Shotgun for Light Infantry/Engineer (OP in close combat). Also for everyone: Spend your first 50 Certs on the sunderer AMS upgrade and equip it. It's a mobile cert production facility if you manage to place your sunderer at the best position in a big battle, netting you up to a few hundred XP per minute.

That and medic aoe / healing is very good for assaulting bio domes as you can more easily gain certs by resurrecting others than by trying to shoot people from within the zerg. lets see. You want burster max and skyguard for the lightning, HE barrel for vanguard and the armor piercing top gun for killing infantry while top gunner kills vehicles. Dalton barrel for liberator so you can pick up a gunner and fly around with a decent barrel. Galaxy or sunderer "sidegrade" weapons for top of the line taxi driving. Then you want experience boosts for maximising cert gain.

Reading this guide atm. I especially like the tips on squad formation. So far we've just been winging it with like 6-7 people in one sunderer but clearly there are stronger, more common-sense options.

A single sunderer is ok for small PUGs, at least that way you make sure they are all going in the same direction. I had situations where i placed squad waypoints, said in voice chat and text chat where to go and people still went in the wrong direction but when there was a sunderer nearby, they just hopped in again once the base was captured. You might also end up with a few zerglings that were nearby and entered the sunderer and are useful cannon fodder at the next destination. Once you have a full squad, having some tanks is great. Then if you make it a platoon and get another squad, you can go for a full setup of tanks and aircraft. Squad Waypoints are basically the most important tool for squad leaders. Always keep waypoints updated to where you want your squad to go. People often don't hear you when there is fighting going on or because they listen to music in the background and can't understand you and they don't look at the chat but they still tend to move towards squad waypoints when they feel like those are actually valid and not just remainders from when you set it an hour ago.

In PS2 I'm having a ton of fun as a sniper, being able to use a super long range sniper (hard as hell to hit with) and then switching to a mid-range autosnipe is pretty sweet. I remember this one time I accidently stumbled upon an enemy assault, behind their lines, on top of a huge mountain LOL. Needless to say I had the time of my life. Looking for a good organized outfit to join on Jaeger for TR, coming into a huge fight solo is fun but its so thrilling to roll out with a huge army of tanks and aircraft.

Yeah... this dawned on me when I invited a second friend to come play with me. The first friend that had played with me for PS1 was just as giddy as hell to get into the game as I was. We were already experienced and new how things worked fundamentally so it wasn't much of an issue but for our third friend... the poor chap didn't even know where he was for most of the time @_@. A lot time was spent just following after him, while he was looking for me although we were so close. Then of course when we finally get into battle he gets blasted away miserably.
